Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.

RACE 1 – SPRY'S MEAT MARKET 2YO WESTBRED MAIDEN PACE (2050MS)

ATHREESHOTEAGLE (M Miller) – Broke gait entering the back straight on the first occasion.  The gelding will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.

GIRL OF BRIGHTNESS (S McDonald) – Inconvenienced by a galloping runner entering the back straight on the first occasion.

BOOM IT UP (T Wheeler) – Broke gait entering the back straight on the first occasion. Broke gait racing into the front straight to receive the bell. Will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.

RACE 2 – ED & BRENDAN RILEY 3YO WESTBRED MAIDEN PACE (2050MS)

CORANTO (L Wallrodt) – Slow to begin. A warning was placed against the filly’s starting manner.

BOUNCE BACK BUDDY (J Suvaljko) – Broke gait leaving the front straight on the first occasion when FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE hung inwards and contacted its offside hindleg.

FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE (J Rigoli) – Hung inwards leaving the front straight on the first occasion and contacted the offside leg of BOUNCE BACK BUDDY. A warning was placed against the filly’s racing manners.

General: An inquiry was held into the reason for BOUNCE BACK BUDDY (J Suvaljko) breaking gait leaving the front straight on the first occasion. Evidence was taken from Drivers J Rigoli (FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE) and J Suvaljko. Mr Rigoli stated that he was not driving his horse along at this stage and that it began to lay inwards on the first turn and despite his efforts continued to shift inwards and contacted the hindleg of BOUNCE BACK BUDDY. After reviewing the vision, Stewards accepted that FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE was hanging inwards with Driver J Rigoli attempting to correct its inward movement.  A warning was subsequently placed against FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE racing manners.

RACE 3 – GRIFFO'S SOFT SERVE ICECREAM COALFIELDS BONUS SERIES PACE (2050MS)

Stewards delayed the declaration of all clear to review the start to determine if any runners were interfered with prior to the start after NEVERTELLMETHEODDS broke gait.  In viewing the patrol film, the Stewards determined that the gelding broke gait as the start was effected and all clear was subsequently issued on the judge’s numbers.

NEVERTELLMETHEODDS (L Elliott) – Galloped out. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.  

SATAN PRINCESS (C Peterson) – Hung inwards and contacted several marker pegs at various stages of the event.

MY GRAND ANGUS (K Harper) – Inconvenienced entering the back straight on the first occasion by a galloping runner.

RACE 4 – BRIAN STUDSOR - EX COMMITTEEMAN PACE (2050MS)

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 5 – PAK-IT COMPUTERS PACE (2050MS)

OUR MUSICAL MOTION (L Wallrodt) – Contacted a marker peg leaving the front straight on the first occasion. Inconvenienced behind a galloping runner in the back straight on the final occasion.

MAJOR CLASS NZ (M Miller) – Broke gait in the back straight on the final occasion. The gelding will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until such time as the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.

LENI ROSE (B Edman) – Inconvenienced behind a galloping runner in the back straight on the final occasion.

RACE 6 – TABTOUCH KING COAL CUP CONDITIONED PACE (2670SS)

IMAHERO (M Miller) – Galloped out.  A warning was issued.

JUST A HAPPY MAN (E Suvaljko) – Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival on course after the gelding had a floating mishap and was declared fit to start.

PRIDDAH (A Markham) – Galloped out. Will continue to be placed outside the standing start draw.

MIKIPELO (K Harper) – Galloped out. Will be placed outside the draw in future standing start events.

ISAIDBOO (J Suvaljko) – Inconvenienced behind a tiring runner in the back straight on the final occasion.  

General: An inquiry was conducted into the reason for IM THE BEST NZ (T Wheeler) racing in a three wide position in the early stages. Evidence was taken from Drivers T Wheeler and C Peterson (MONTEGO). It was established that MONTEGO, which was positioned behind the leader, was then shifted to the moving line prior to IM THE BEST NZ covering its sulky wheel.  After considering the statements of both drivers and reviewing the vision, Stewards were satisfied that no driver was at fault and no further action was taken.

RACE 7 – SIGNFX PACE (2050MS)

SOUNDS LIKE FUN (B Hayes) – Inconvenienced and raced roughly in the back straight on the final occasion behind a tiring runner.

TIMES TICKIN (S Suvaljko) – Gave ground from the 500m to be beaten 73 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Driver S Suvaljko reported that the gelding was contacting its own sulky and over-raced throughout which was detrimental to its performance.

ALEXANDRA THEGREAT (A Shepherd) – Broke gait in the score-up and was out of position at the start. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.

THE BATMOBILE NZ ( E Suvaljko) – Raced roughly entering the back straight on the first occasion when over-racing and continued to over-race thereafter.

General: Driver C Playle (PACIFIC EAGLE) was reprimanded under the provisions of HR156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking motion.  

RACE 8 – RACING WA CAREERS IN RACING 4YO+ WESTBRED MAIDEN PACE (2050MS)

ZIGGY VERMEER (C Playle) – Galloped out. Will be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events. Contacted a marker peg entering the front straight on the second occasion.
