STEWARDS REPORT FOR CRANBOURNE

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – DECRON CRANBOURNE 7000 PACE FINAL (1609 MS)
DEFT TOUCH – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish.
IAMAWINGATE – Declared a late withdrawal at 4:00pm by Order of Stewards, due to trainer A Stephens being indisposed as a result of illness. IAMAWINGATE was stood down pending Mr Stephens providing a medical certificate to HRV Stewards.
EYE SEE AMOUR – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish prior to utilising the sprint lane.
SHAZZA LOVE – Out of position at the start. No action was taken against driver C Alford in view of recent changes to designated signal markers prior to the start. Post-race swab sample.
LADY IN LINE – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish prior to utilising the sprint lane.
RACE 2 – LATHER UP STANDING @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (2080 MS)
ROYALANCE – Pre-race blood sample.
RUBY WINGATE – Declared a late withdrawal at 4:00pm by Order of Stewards, due to trainer A Stephens being indisposed as a result of illness. RUBY WINGATE was stood down pending Mr Stephens providing a medical certificate to HRV Stewards.
HEZA DOOZIE – Contacted its own off-side sulky wheel throughout.
BONA KHAN – Driver T Ford was advised to modify the manner in which she applies the whip so that it conforms with the rules.
BURNING TICKETS – Pulled-hard throughout the score-up
BULLETPROOF SNIPER – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding having not competed in the preceding 12 months. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Broke gait during the middle stages of the score up, was out of position at the start, then broke gait on a second occasion as the start was effected and trailed the field thereafter. BULLETPROOF SNIPER will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
DOUGS TRIBE – Broke gait clear of interference on two separate occasions (1600 metres and 400 metres). In view of the colt’s poor recent record, DOUGS TRIBE was stood down for a period of 10 days in addition to the completion of one re-qualifying trial prior to returning to race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
RACE 3 – HYGAIN CRANBOURNE 10000 PACE (1609 MS)
POPCORNFRIDAY – Hampered leaving the 200 metres when HARRYS A ROCKSTAR hung in under pressure.
SOMEJOYFUL NZ – Checked passing the 250 metres when BUSLOAD OF FAITH NZ broke gait.
HAMMER DAN – Post-race swab sample.
HARRYS A ROCKSTAR – Trainer J Davies was issued a formal caution for failing to declare the intended driving tactics with the stable runners in the event. Pulled-hard throughout the score up. Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Hung in whilst under pressure inside the final 200 metres resulting in, POPCORNFRIDAY being hampered.
MACHANE SAID – Broke gait during the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued. Hampered passing the 250 metres when BUSLOAD OF FAITH NZ broke gait.
BUSLOAD OF FAITH NZ – Broke gait clear of interference passing the 250 metres causing SOMEJOYFUL NZ to be checked, whilst MACHANE SAID was hampered. BUSLOAD OF FAITH N was placed on its last chance to race truly.
RACE 4 – ALDEBARAN PARK MAIDEN TROT (2080 MS)
BLITZER I HOPE – Pre-race blood sample.
GOODTIME LUNA – Examined pre-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the mare having not competed in the preceding 12 months. The examination revealed the mare to be experiencing cardiac arrythmia. Consequently, GOODTIME LUNA was declared a late withdrawal at 7:18pm acting on veterinary advice. In accordance with AHRR 101C(2)(a), GOODTIME LUNA was stood down for a period of 14 days, in addition to requiring a veterinary clearance inclusive of the results of an electrocardiogram test (ECG) and the completion of one re-qualifying trial prior to returning to race.
OPRAH DOUBLE YOU – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the trainer, after raising concerns with the condition of the mare after arriving on-course. The examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near-hind leg. Consequently, OPRAH DOUBLE YOU declared a late withdrawal at 7:00pm acting on veterinary advice. Further, OPRAH DOUBLE YOU was stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to racing and/or trialling again.
GUNNY TEE – Broke gait clear of interference passing the 1700 metres, then consequently broke its three legged hopple loop.
MAJESTIC PARTY BOY – Out of position at the start despite the efforts of its driver. MAJESTIC PARTY BOY will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 5 – BLUE HILLS RISE STAWELL PACING CUP (HEAT) (2080 MS)
MASTER REMI – Driver J Herbertson was issued a formal caution for scoring up in the incorrect barrier during the early stages of the score up which obstructed KENDYS BUTTERFLY from progressing into its position at that point.
KENEDYS BUTTERFLY – Hampered during the early stages of the score up when MASTER REMI scored up in the incorrect barrier. Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish prior to utilising the sprint lane. Post-race swab sample.
WOTDIDUSAAAY – Locked wheels with ANOTHER NIEN approaching the 200 metres when that runner hung in and WOTDIDUSAAAY yielded ground.
ANOTHER NIEN – Hung in and locked wheels with WOTDIDUSAAAY approaching the 200 metres when that runner was yielding ground.
RACE 6 – CRANBOURNE FENCING TROT (2080 MS)
BLANCO CANYON – Trainer A Lousada was fined the sum of $50 under AHRR 238 for failing to declare the intended driving tactics with the stable runners in the event. In determining penalty, Stewards noted the poor recent record of Mr Lousada in relation to the rule.
ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD – ($5.00) When questioned regarding the performance, driver J Caldow explained that due to the slow tempo during the middle stages he elected to shift away from the marker peg line and improve forward however the gelding failed to travel genuinely when racing without cover and ultimately when placed under pressure near the 400 metres his runner was unresponsive and gave ground and was slightly disappointed with the gelding’s inability to finish the race off.
SUGA DADDY – Stewards refrained from taking action against driver C Clarke in relation to recording the first half of the last mile in 66.6 seconds, due to the gelding having not established the lead until shortly after leaving the 1600 metres.
DESERT ASSASSIN – Had its near-side sulky wheel contacted by OUR SAFARI SUN leaving the 1700 metres.
OUR SAFARI SUN – Pulled-hard during the score-up. Contacted the near-side sulky wheel of DESERT ASSASSIN leaving the 1700 metres resulting in OUR SAFARI SUN breaking gait. Stewards intend on interviewing drivers M Bellman (OUR SAFARI SUN) and J Quinlan (DESERT ASSASSIN) on 20/11/24 at Maryborough, in relation to the circumstances surrounding the incident.
IMPERIAL WHIZ NZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Weakened inside the final 700 metres to be beaten 63.5 metres. A warning was issued.
ADJURE – Weakened inside the final 600 metres to be beaten 99.8 metres. In view of the overall performance, ADJURE was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.
RACE 7 – MARK GURRY & ASSOCIATES MAIDEN PACE (1609 MS)
REUBE STARBUCK NZ – ($7.50) When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer/driver K Marshall explained that the filly was first-up from a significant spell tonight and had taken good natural improvement from its first preparation. He said that, the filly was inclined to make contact with its own sulky throughout and as such his runner raced somewhat keener than he would have preferred and failed to settle in tonight’s event. He added that, whilst the filly had not trialled leading into tonight the stable were confident of a forward showing and after being successful tonight would look to continue with its immediate preparation. Post-race swab sample.
RAKAROMPA NZ – Raced roughly passing the 400 metres.
GOZO MAJOR – Weakened inside the final 650 metres to be beaten 107.7 metres. In view of the overall performance, GOZO MAJOR was stood down to one re-qualifying trial.
SPEEDY HEALEY – Out of position at the start despite the efforts of its driver, then broke gait shortly after the start. SPEEDY HEALEY will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
