STEWARDS REPORT FOR CRANBOURNE

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – MARK GURRY & ASSOCIATES PACE (1609 MS)

General – Drivers James Herbertson (Full Moon), Jordan Leedham (Iamawingate) and Matthew Ablett (Feel The Buzz) were questioned regarding Feel The Buzz being checked and racing roughly entering the home straight.  After reviewing all available footage and taking submissions from each driver it was established that entering the home straight Full Moon hung out placing Feel The Buzz in restricted racing room for a short distance to the inside of Iamawingate.  Feel The Buzz was checked and raced roughly as a result.  Stewards noted the incident.

DALLAS NIKOLAY– (200 + starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  No abnormalities were revealed.

ARKLOW – Utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

RIVER PATROL– (200 + starts, 12+ yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  No abnormalities were revealed.

FULL MOON – Driver James Herbertson replaced Darby McGuigan (unavailable).  Hung out entering the home straight.

FEEL THE BUZZ– (200 + starts, 12+ yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  No abnormalities were revealed.  Checked and raced roughly entering the home straight.

RACE 2 – CRANBOURNE FENCING PACE (2080 MS)

CLARENDON SCOOTER – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

GIRLS VIEW – Driver James Herbertson replaced Darby McGuigan (unavailable).

BETTOR BREEZE ON – Held up for clear running on the final turn.

PERSHING– Driver Glenn Hunter reminded of his obligations in relation to the application of the whip.

RACE 3 – DECRON 2YO TROT (1609 MS)

EL TORNADO – Broke after the start and trailed the field.  The gelding will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

LOW LIE THE FIELDS– Tired to be beaten 55m into 4th placing.  No action taken given the margins established by the placegetters.

BETTOR MAN – Driver David Murphy replaced Brent Murphy (dual engaged).  Inconvenienced after the start by El Tornado.  Broke gait a short distance later, no action taken.

RACE 4 – BLUE HILLS WARRAGUL PACING CUP (5TH HEAT) (2080 MS)

General – James Herbertson (Benbullan) and Scott Ewen (Tara Victory) were questioned regarding Benbullan breaking gait approaching the 400m.  After reviewing all available footage and taking submissions from each driver it was established that Tara Victory briefly lost ground approaching the 400m after being placed four wide.  Benbullan, which was trailing Tara Victory was then placed in restricted racing room after Alfs Girl shifted out into a three wide position resulting in Benbullan being checked and breaking gait.  Stewards noted the incident.

WATTLEBANK FLYER NZ– (200 + starts, 12+ yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  No abnormalities were revealed.

FAIR CHANCE – Utilised sprint lane in the home straight.

BENBULLAN– (Last started Oct 2022) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  No abnormalities were revealed.  Checked and broke approaching the 400m.

SHOOBEES SPIRIT – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

RACE 5 – BETAVET WARRAGUL PACING CUP (6TH HEAT) (1609 MS)

LOTAKEVI – (12+ yrs) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  No abnormalities were revealed.  Broke gait when clear of interference at the 600m and has now been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

ILLAWONG DANNY – Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

KEAYANG SANTIAGO– Broke gait when clear of interference at the 1600m and now placed on last chance to last truly.

MOORAT MAGIC – Driver Alex Ashwood cautioned for failing to be in position at the start.

IM FIELD MAJOR NZ – Driver Jordan Leedham replaced Darby McGuigan (unavailable).

BIGJIMVALENTINE – Tired to be beaten 83m into 10th placing.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.  The gelding has now been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

RACE 6 – LATHER UP STANDING @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (2080 MS)

LENARD ESS – Utilised sprint lane in the home straight.

EDWARDE GRANGE – Driver Alex Ashwood replaced Tayla French (unavailable).  Held up for clear running on the final turn.

LOTHARIO – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the spring lane in the home straight.

SHADOW CELT - Driver James Herbertson replaced Darby McGuigan (unavailable).

RACE 7 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROTTERS HANDICAP (2575 SS)

GIL FAVOR NZ – Tired to be beaten 159m into last placing.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.  The gelding has now been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

FLING IT RAINBOW – Gave ground from the 300m to be beaten 39m into 5th placing.  Locked wheels with Copacabana on the final turn.

OUR SAFARI SUN– Inconvenienced by the tiring Gil Favor NZ passing the 700m.

ALDEBARAN BOYD – Driver Abby Sanderson replaced Eva Justice (unavailable).

COPACABANA– Locked wheels with Fling It Rainbow on the final turn.
