Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – WORLDS BEST HOOF OIL CRANBOURNE 10000 PACE FINAL (1609 MS)
JUDES DUDE – Driver T Ford was fined the sum of $200 under AHRR 156(2)(a) for applying the whip on multiple occasions that exceeded a wrist only flicking motion between the 200 metres and the 100 metres. Post-race swab sample.
HAMMER DAN – Pre-race blood sample. Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish.
ROCKETS MATE – Held up for clear running during the latter stages of the run to the finish.
PLAINS IN HEAVEN – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish prior to utilising the sprint lane.
EL BOSTON – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
RACE 2 – DECRON PACE (2080 MS)
ISLAND CAESAR – Pulled-hard throughout the score up.
YNOBE DAKOTA – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish prior to utilising the sprint lane.
CAN BE A REUBE NZ – Stewards refrained from action against driver E Tormey in relation to recording the first half of the last mile in 64.4 seconds (0.4 seconds outside of requirement) in view of the deteriorating track conditions due to continued rainfall. Post-race swab sample.
IM WESLEY – Hung out shortly after the start and locked wheels with CITY ROCKSTAR causing IM WESLEY to break stride. IM WESLEY will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
CITY ROCKSTAR – Hampered shortly after the start when locking wheels with IM WESLEY which hung out.
RACE 3 – LATHER UP STANDING @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (1609 MS)
CEE CEE NORMAN – At the first attempt to score up, broke gait during the latter stages causing SCRITTORE to be checked and consequently a false start was declared. At the second attempt to score up, broke gait during the middle stages, was out of position at the start and trailed the field thereafter. CEE CEE NORMAN will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
GROOM – Fractious throughout the score up. GROOM will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. Hung in upon entering the first turn which placed SWEET REVENGE NZ in restricted room and consequently was checked and broke gait. A warning was issued.
FEEL THE BUZZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian in accordance with HRV’s animal welfare policy due to the gelding being 12 years of age and having competed in excess of 200 starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
BLACKMIRRA – Checked approaching the 600 metres when OLIVIA ROSE broke gait.
SCRITTORE – Hampered during the middle stages of the score up when CEE CEE NORMAN broke gait.
SWEET REVENGE NZ – Checked and broke gait upon entering the first turn when GROOM hung in.
OLIVIA ROSE – Broke gait clear of interference passing the 700 metres causing BLACKMIRRA to be checked. In view of the filly’s poor recent record, OLIVIA ROSE was stood down for a period of 10 days, in addition to the completion of one re-qualifying trial prior to returning to race.
RACE 4 – HYGAIN MAIDEN PACE (1609 MS)
Due to substantial rainfall between races 3 & 4, A track inspection and mobile barrier test was conducted and was deemed suitable to continue racing.
MISTER EVOLUTION – Pre-race blood sample.
FIRE MARSHALL – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish prior to utilising the sprint lane.
MUSELET – Weakened inside the final 600 metres to be beaten 62.8 metres. A warning was issued.
RACE 5 – BLUE HILLS RISE PACE (1609 MS)
DEFT TOUCH – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.
ALPHA CIRCUS – Hung in whilst under pressure inside the final 100 metres.
SASSCILIAN – Post-race swab sample.
KARDESLER NZ – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running during the early stages of the run to the finish prior to utilising the sprint lane.
SOUTHPAW SLUGGER – Pre-race blood sample. Pulled-hard throughout the score up. Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Gave ground inside the final 400 metres to be beaten 50 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
RACE 6 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (1609 MS)
WHOSE ME MUM – Slow to begin.
HILLWINSOME – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after trainer K Tippet raised concerns with the condition of the gelding after arriving on-course. Upon examination, the gelding was found to have mucus present and an elevated temperature consistent with the on-set of a virus. Consequently, HILLWINSOME was declared a late withdrawal at 6:22pm acting on veterinary advice. Further, HILLWINSOME will be stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to racing and/or trialling again.
ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD – Post-race swab sample.
