STEWARDS REPORT FOR COBRAM

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – COBRAM HOTEL 2YO & 3YO MAIDEN TROT (1670 MS)

The start of this race was rescheduled to start at 1.20pm.

CRESCO CASHFLOW – Tired to be beaten 86m. Given the fast mile rate recorded, some leniency was shown, and the filly was issued with a warning.

MAROON BELLS - Tired to be beaten 87m. Given the fast mile rate recorded, some leniency was shown, and the filly was issued with a warning.

SPEEDY COMET – Out of position at the start and will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races.

RACE 2 –CMCU 3YO MAIDEN PACE  (1670 MS)

REASON TO SCREAM – Raced greenly during the score up before fulfilling its position at the start.

KALKADOON DREAMING – Hung in under pressure on entering the home straight on the final occasion.

RED SHORES – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the gelding not racing for more than 12 months with no obvious abnormalities detected.

 

RACE 3 – VHRC 2YO MAIDEN PACE (1670 MS)

SOHO PLAYGIRL – Raced roughly and galloped shortly after the start when challenging for the lead and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

ZEE HOUTEN – Trainer cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the filly correctly notified.

TOBYS SHOUT – Trainer David Moran was cautioned for his late driver notification of Mark Lee.

YANKEE CAPTAIN - Caught wide throughout. Hung in while racing three wide during the middle and latter stages.

IMPOSTER BOY – Trainer Shane Sanderson was cautioned for failing to have the gear worn by the colt correctly notified.

JETTER SON – Held up for a clear run during the early stages of the home straight before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.

OKANUI BEACH – Pulled hard middle stages.

ANDELS WATCHING – Held up for a clear run rounding the final turn until entering the home straight.

RACE 4 – VHRC PACE (1670 MS)

LENNY LINCOLN NZ – Inconvenienced when contacted from behind by Our Cheeky Devil at various stages throughout.

CHEROKEE JAC – Hung in under pressure when giving ground rounding the final turn.

OUR CHEEKY DEVIL – Driver Jeremy Quinlan was cautioned for careless driving after making contact with the back of Lenny Lincoln NZ while trailing that runner during the middle and latter stages. Inconvenienced momentarily rounding the final turn as Cherokee Jac gave ground rounding the home turn.

RACE 5 – VHRC PACE (1670 MS)

MIKI PINS NZ – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the gelding not racing for more than 12 months with no obvious abnormalities detected.

RACE 6 – VHRC TROTTERS HANDICAP (2170 SS)

TETRA – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the mare racing on more than 200 previous occasions with no obvious abnormalities detected.

TARENTAISE – Fractious before the start requiring assistance from the clerk of the course which resulted in a delay to the start. Galloped out and was placed out of the draw for future standing start races. Hung in under pressure rounding the final turn and gave ground.

LIZZIES SON – Shied as the barrier strand contacted the outside fence on release and galloped away. Given the circumstances not action was taken against the barrier manners of the gelding. Trailed the field throughout.

KAMARAN – The all clear was delayed to ascertain whether the gelding was denied a fair start. Upon review of the available replays and after questioning driver Gary Pekin it was established that the 20m barrier tape was slightly delayed in release and Kamaran was contacted by the tape resulting in the gelding galloping and losing it chance of a fair start. Under the circumstances Kamaran was declared a Non Runner with all money wagered on the gelding to be refunded. All clear was then given on the judges numbers.

 

RACE 7 – VHRC PACE (1670 MS)

JOEYS HANGOVER – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions with no obvious abnormalities detected. Raced roughly under pressure rounding the final turn.

ROCKSTAR LEO – Driver Steven Lindberg was cautioned for an apparent lack of control after failing to maintain a straight course when driving out in the home straight.

BERYLS GRIN – Pulled hard while being restrained during the early stages.

FRIENDS – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the geldings age and was cleared of any obvious abnormalities.

MISTER REBEL – Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the gelding racing on more than 200 previous occasions with no apparent abnormalities detected.

 

RACE 8 – VHRC PACE (2170 MS)

LORIMERMAJOR – Driver Rebecca Bartley was cautioned for allowing he left foot to drop from the sulky foot rest rounding the final turn. Ms Bartley was reminded of her obligation to ensure her sulky position is correctly set to avoid any reoccurrence.

VICTORTHEINFLICTOR – Out of position at the start and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

FEEL THE REIGN- Pre and post race veterinary examinations due to the rig racing on more than 200 previous occasions with no obvious abnormalities detected.
