STEWARDS REPORT FOR COBRAM

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 XERRI EVANS ACCOUNTANTS, ADVISORS & AUDITORS COBRAM 2YO PACE (1670 MS)

Brent Lilley, trainer of Joyful & David Aiken, trainer of Houston Street were both fined the sum of $100 under AHR Rule 273(6)(b) for presenting their runners in gear which had not been correctly declared.

Alex Ashwood, trainer of Paris Princess was fined the sum of $50 under AHR Rule 273(6)(b) for presenting the filly in gear which had not been correctly declared.

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 2 PETER ENALS COBRAM CARAVANS PACE (2170 MS)

Bettor Sport was declared a late scratching at 8:59am acting on veterinary advice.

Amber Alert (John Newberry) raced roughly passing the 1900m.

Abbie Lincoln (Nathan Jack) was held up around the final turn prior to obtaining clear running along the sprint lane.

RACE 3 – NORTH VIC LIVESTOCK TROT (2170 MS)

Starlight Red (Laura Crossland) & Starlight Storm (Cody Crossland) both pulled hard during the score up.

Aristotle (Damian Wilson) broke gait clear of interference passing the 2000m inconveniencing Starlight Storm.

Starlight Storm pulled hard during the middle stages of the event.

Firengrace (Stacey Towers) broke gait approaching the 300m.

Savvy Kyvalley (Anthony Butt) was held up during the early stages around the final turn prior to obtaining clear running.

RACE 4 – PETSTOCK COBRAM PACE (2170 MS)

Murano underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having started in excess of 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities

Artimos (Mikayla Towers) & Tara Leeann (Mark Buckingham) were both held up around the final turn prior to obtaining clear running along the sprint lane.        

RACE 5 - BENSTUD PACE (2170 MS)

Cameron Maggs, driver of Renway Reactor was issued a caution for tightening the racing room of Roarforroscoe (Juanita Breen) when crossing entering the first turn.

Nathan Jack, driver of Nineteenth Man was issued a caution for easing the pace approaching the 1900m which inconvenienced Roarforroscoe.

Renway Reactor yielded ground rapidly approaching the 400m to finish in 7th and last position beaten 52.8m inconveniencing What A Pleasure (Harry O’Neill). A warning was issued against the racing competitiveness of Renway Reactor.

RACE 6 – BAROOGA SPORTS CLUB PACE (1670 MS)

Good Feelings underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having started in excess of 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities

Nevada Yankee (Nathan Jack) was held up around the final turn prior to obtaining clear running along the sprint lane.

Conor Crook, driver of Good Feelings was issued a caution for allowing his upper body to protrude outside the confines of the sulky.

RACE 7 – COBRAM HOTEL PACE (1670 MS)

Denstown (James Herbertson) was held up around the final turn prior to obtaining clear running along the sprint lane.

RACE 8 – PAT BARRET TYRE POWER COBRAM PACE (1670 MS)

Days End underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations under the HRV horse welfare policy due to the gelding having started in excess of 200 races. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

Heston Zoolander underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Mel Thackeray (Hancocks Hero) Juanita Breen (Therockgod) & Jordan Leedham (Heaven In Locksley) were all issued cautions for being out of position during the score up when the start was effected.

Heston Zoolander raced roughly approaching the 1500m & 1300m of the event. A warning was issued against the gelding’s racing manners.

Hancocks Hero & Another Colony (Mark Buckingham) were both inconvenienced approaching the 200m as Heston Zoolander gave ground.

Jackson Painting, driver of Heston Zoolander ($9.50) which finished in 9th position beaten 29.8m after racing outside the leader from the 1300m was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding. Mr Painting advised the gelding to be disappointing which he contributed to the gelding failing to pace fluently which he explained the stable would undertake corrective shoeing measures prior to the gelding starting again. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Stewards took evidence from David Kennedy, trainer of Heston Zoolander and Driver Jackson Painting in regards to being in possession of a modified bit which was designed for the gelding to wear. This inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.

RACE 9 – RACV RESORT COBRAM 3YO MAIDEN PACE (1670 MS)

Classic Mix Up (Jackson Painting) failed to circle in the pre-race formation. A warning was issued against the filly’ starting manners.

Victortheinflictor (Stacey Towers) raced roughly approaching the 400m.

Leigh Sutton, driver of Venetian was issued a caution for shifting ground approaching the 200m which inconvenienced Sonic Express (Josh Aiken).

Interpretation (Alex Ashwood) raced roughly passing the 200m.

Venetian (Leigh Sutton) hung outwards under pressure approaching 150m when being corrected simultaneously Treacherous Lass (Nathan Jack) hung inwards marginally resulting in both runners locking wheels.

The All Clear was delayed at the request of Leigh Sutton, driver of Venetian 3rd past the post to view the available replays over the concluding stages if he had grounds for a protest. After viewing the replays Mr Sutton declined to take the matter any further and the All Clear was declared on the judge’s placing.

Jackson Painting, driver of Classic Mix Up ($1.75 fav) which finished in 5th position beaten 9.2m after leading was queried into the overall performance of the filly. Mr Painting advised the filly over raced throughout the event which was the main contributing factor to the filly’s performance.

Cherokee Jac (Noel Tyndall) failed to gain clear running for the entire length of the home straight.

RACE 10 – CENTRAL MURRAY CREDIT UNION PACE (1670 MS)

Michael Towers, trainer of Golden Reason & Rosemarie Weidenbach, trainer of Rolling Remona were both issued cautions for presenting their runners in gear which had not been correctly declared.

The All Clear was delayed at the request of Blake Jones, driver of Our Modern Minnie 2nd past the post to view the available replays over the concluding stages along with the & photo finish. After viewing the replays & photo finish Mr Jones declined to take the matter any further and the All Clear was declared on the judge’s placing.

Kevin Jnr Weidenbach, driver of Rolling Remona was issued a caution for his lack of control in allowing the mare to shift outwards under pressure over the latter stages of the event locking wheels with Our Modern Minnie (Blake Jones) on the finish line.
