RACE 1 – CHARLTON CARAVAN PARK PACE (1609 MS)

The start time of this event was amended to 2.10pm.

SEA HAWKE – held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.

CELESTIAL DAYBREAK – pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts and 12 or more years of age. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.

RACE 2 – BECOME A CHARLTON MEMBER 2025 PACE (1609 MS)

PRINCESS ALEXANDRA – late scratching at 1.47pm due to float breakdown.

Stewards queried drivers Ryan Sanderson (OUR ULTIMATE BONNY) and Brent Murphy (PRIORITY BETTING) regarding an incident rounding the first turn where it appeared several runners were inconvenienced to varying degrees. After evidence from both drivers, Steward’s observations and viewing several angles of the official race replays, Stewards determined that after showing early speed Mr. Sanderson directed OUR ULTIMATE BONNY down the track to gain the position behind the leader and as OUR ULTIMATE BONNY progressed downward, FLEXI BET (Luke Dunne) and FLAMING LUCKY (Jason Ainsworth) both restrained their drives ahead of OUR ULTIMATE BONNY. With Mr. Murphy driving PRIORITY BETTING forward to hold the position behind FLAMING LUCKY, both runners were inconvenienced to varying degrees as the speed ahead slackened. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that either party were blameworthy in the circumstances and noted the racing incident as such.

RACE 3 – VALE BILL FITZPATRICK PACE (1609 MS)

THE DEMOCRAT - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination. Inconvenienced by RUBY WINGATE (Ryan Duffy) over the concluding stages when that runner hung outward under pressure. Driver Ashley Ainsworth fined the sum of $200 under AHRR156(2)(a) for applying the whip to his drive with more than a wrist-only flicking motion in an action which engaged the shoulder and elbow and displayed an overt amount of force over the final 200m. Clear record noted. Trainer Ashley Ainsworth cautioned for not advising dual-runner tactics by the prescribed time.

BEAU BRONSKI – pulled hard when leading the event.

HAND WRITER – pulled hard through middle stages.

MARKLEIGH CAZ - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more lifetime starts. CELESTIAL ZODIAC – paced roughly in the score-up rendering the gelding out of position at the candy pole.

CALF PEN NZ – driver Ryan Sanderson fined the sum of $100 under AHRR168(1)(a) for carelessly allowing the gelding to contact the final marker peg prior to the entrance of the sprint lane, with CALF PEN NZ then galloping as a result. Stewards held up the all-clear to obtain evidence from Mr Sanderson and review several angles of the official race replays to determine whether Mr Sanderson had complied with his obligations under AHRR154(1) and 155(1) in retraining his drive whilst in a gallop and further, whether CALF PEN NZ gained or maintained ground whilst doing so. Stewards were of the view that Mr Sanderson had fulfilled his obligations and that no advantage was gained by CALF PEN NZ and gave the all-clear on the judge’s numbers of 1 – 11 – 8 – 4.

DIAMONDS AND ROSES – hung out sharply approx. 900m; warning issued. Tired to be beaten 76.4m; warning issued for beaten margin.
