In view of the recent record of the gelding NOWHERENEAR CRAZY will be required to perform one re qualifying trial. Stewards questioned driver Mick Sullivan into the tactics adopted in tonight’s event of particular concern to the stewards was the decision of Mr Sullivan remaining racing in a three wide position for the entire event. Mr Sullivan stated that he thought he would have been able to progress forward to find the position outside the leader as he believed EM POWERED would have been happy to take cover. Although the pace of the race was quite solid in the early stages of the event Mr Sullivan believed that if he kept working forward he would be able to find the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres however this did not eventuate. When considering evidence, Stewards believed that Mr Sullivan had erred in his judgement and had an opportunity to restrain one length passing the 1200 metres to a position in the running line when it was apparent that the position outside the leader was not available to give his horse some respite considering it had already done a considerable amount of work, however believed that Mr Sullivan’s drive was not culpable to the degree to warrant any further action to be taken and his comments were noted.

DON ARTHUR– Post race swab.

EM POWERED- Raced roughly entering the back straight on the final occasion before becoming unbalanced and breaking gait passing the 450 metres. The gelding again broke gait passing the 150 metres. In view of the recent record of the gelding EM POWERED will be required to perform one re – qualifying trial. Connections advised that EM POWERED would now be spelled and as a result was stood down for a period of 28 days.
