RACE 1 – GLEN MIA (ACT) PTY LTD PACE – 1770 metres

THATS THE ATTITUDE– Became unbalanced before breaking stride approaching the 1400 metres.  A warning was issued.  Worked forward three wide in the middle stages from the 1400 metres before obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres. 

NOTMUCHUPTOP– Pre-race blood sample was taken.  Stewards questioned driver H Ross on the overall performance of the gelding in tonight’s event.  H Ross stated that he had intended on obtaining a forward position however was unable to do so and elected to restrain the gelding to the tail of the field.  When placed under pressure leaving the 600 metres the gelding failed to respond.  H Ross further stated he was slightly disappointed in NOTMUCHUPTOP’S overall performance.  Stewards noted his comments.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

EM POWERED– At the request of connections a pre-race warm up was approved. 

FORANEYE– At the request of connections a pre-race warm up was approved.  Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight on the final occasion.

BLACK ART NZ– Post-race swab sample was taken.

 

RACE 2 – TAB.COM.AU 2LTW PACE – 1770 metres

LAST TIME JOE– Declared a late scratching at 4.53pm due to a vehicle breakdown on route to the track.

TASTE IT– Became unbalanced before breaking stride in the score up on the first occasion causing a false start to be declared.  A warning was issued.  Had a tendency to over race in the early stages of the event.  Checked and broke passing the 1200 metres when DONARTHUR shifted down the track resulting in the mare being retired from the event.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

ALTA CLASSIC– Post-race swab sample was taken.

MY COURTELL– Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1400 metres.

NOWHERENEAR CRAZY– Raced four wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1400 metres.

ASH BEE– Pre-race blood sample was taken. 

DON ARTHUR– Worked forward in the middle stages of the event from the 1400 metres before obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.  Driver N Turnbull was found guilty of a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when working forward to the position outside the leader approaching the 1200 metres he has shown insufficient effort to prevent his runner from shifting down the track when not fully clear of TASTE IT who was racing to the inside resulting in that runner being placed in restricted racing room and being checked and broke. As a result that runner was retired from the event.  When considering penalty Stewards took into consideration Mr Turnbull’s driving record in relation to this Rule, his not guilty plea and the racing manners of the gelding.  Mr Turnbull’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 14 days to commence at midnight on 22 June 2022.

 

RACE 3 – OSKAR MEMORIALS PACE – 1770 metres

PROCEEDS OF CRIME– Hung in under pressure passing the 200 metres and contacted a marker peg.

EXCELENTE – Pre-race blood sample was taken.  Post-race swab sample was taken.

LITTLE ARCHIE– Caught racing three wide in the early stages of the event before obtaining a position in the running line passing the 1550 metres. 

 

RACE 4 – AV STONE MARBLE & GRANITE PACE – 1770 metres

ENDLESS– Pre-race blood sample was taken. 

CHASE THE FEELING– Raced roughly before breaking stride approaching the 250 metres.  Due to the gelding’s record in relation to its tractability CHASE THE FEELING was stood down for a period of 14 days and the completion of two requalifying trials.

ALBERIO– Post-race swab sample was taken.

HAWK EYE– Despite the efforts of driver D Morris was out of position when the start was affected.  A warning was issued.

SATIN BANYULA– Worked forward three wide in the middle stages of the event from the 1400 metres before obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.

 

RACE 5 – EXQUISITE JEWELLERS KIPPAX MAIDEN PACE – 1770 metres

SAPPHIRE ROCK– Driver J Locke received a reprimand under rule 163(1)(b)(i) for shifting his runner from a marker peg position to a running line position passing the 1500 metres when not fully clear of PETE MITCHELL racing to his outside momentarily forcing that runner wider on the track.

PETE MITCHELL– Momentarily forced wider passing the 1500 metres when SAPPHIRE ROCK shifted up the track.

PABLOS ART– Post-race swab sample was taken.

INTHEBLINKOFANEYE– Worked forward three wide in the early stages of the event before obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1550 metres.

CHOCOLATE DELIGHT– Pre-race blood sample was taken.

 

RACE 6 – J W O’SULLIVAN & SONS PACE – 2170 metres

HERE COMES BOBY– Became unbalanced before breaking stride passing the 500 metres.  A warning was issued.

SKREEMR NZ– Pre-race blood sample was taken. 

DASHING CHEDDAR– Had a tendency to over race during the early and middle stages of the event.

NIGHT TO REMEMBER– Post-race swab sample was taken.

THE TALK– Worked three wide in the early stages of the event before obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 2000 metres.

 

RACE 7 – ACT TYREPOWER BELCONNEN TROTTERS MOBILE – 1770 metres

MASTER COMBATANT– Pre-race blood sample was taken. 

LOVE WHO– Contacted the sulky wheel of JUNGLE EYES when that runner hung in approaching the 750 metres resulting in the gelding being checked and broke. 

ONAWINGANDAPRAYER– Worked forward three wide in the early stages of the event before obtaining a position in the running line passing the 1550 metres. 

JUNGLE EYES– Caught racing three wide in the early and middle stages of the event.  Approaching the 750 metres hung in and despite the efforts of driver J Locke contacted the sulky wheel of LOVE WHO racing to its inside resulting in JUNGLE EYES being checked and broke.  The gelding was given its last chance to race truly.

JUNGLE SPIDER– Became unbalanced before breaking stride shortly after the start was affected.  A warning was issued.  Held up for clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

CRITICAL ADVANTAGE– Post-race swab sample was taken.

CROOKWELL EYES– Leaving the 600 metres contacted a marker peg and became unbalanced before breaking stride.  The gelding was stood down for one requalifying trial.
