MASTER COMBATANT– Surrendered the lead in the early stages of the event passing the 1400 metres.

ERATIGENA– Stewards questioned trainer/driver G Forrest on the overall performance of the mare.  G Forrest stated that he had expected a forward showing and that after the start was affected he looked for a forward position but was held out by APEX for the position outside the leader. He then looked to work the mare forward down the back straight on the first occasion and again APEX kicked up to hold him out. When asked for an effort passing the 400 metres ERATIGENA failed to run on. Mr Forrest further stated that the mare had missed some work leading into the event due to the inclement weather conditions. Stewards noted his comments. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
