Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.

RACE 1 – CAPTAIN AHAB DOUBLE WESTBRED IS BEST 3YO WESTBRED PACE (2100MS)

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 2 – BENCHMARK HORSE FEEDS PACE (2100MS)

BARTLETT (D Kulcsar) – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities. Due to the poor performance, the stable representative was advised the gelding will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.

VEEFORVICTORY (L Harper) – Broke gait in the back straight on the final occasion.  The gelding will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until the completion of 1 satisfactory requalifying trial.

RACE 3 – PINJARRA ENGINEERING PACE (2100MS)

CHAMPAGNE STYLE (M Ferguson) – Driver M Ferguson reported the off-side tyre deflated in the run to the finish line.

FIREPLAY (A Markham) – Broke gait in the back straight on the final occasion. The gelding will be stood down from racing for a period of 6 days and until the completion of 1 satisfactory requalifying trial.

General: In relation to SHES A LUCKY PENNY (A Vidovich) being restrained so abruptly shortly after the start was effected from barrier position two, Driver A Vidovich will receive tutelage from the RWWA Driving Master regarding showing more care and refraining from restraining in such a manner in similar circumstances to avoid potentially causing interference to other runners.

RACE 4 – JONES BOYS GWM TANK 500 DIV.1 PACE (1609MS)

General: Concessional Drivers AJ Markham (TA IN ADVANCE) and L Elliott (FOLLOW ROCKNROLL) accompanied by the RWWA Driving Coach were interviewed in relation to TA IN ADVANCE breaking gait leaving the back straight on the first occasion. It was established that FOLLOW ROCKNROLL was improving quickly to the outside of TA IN ADVANCE with the intention of crossing and settling in front of that gelding, subsequently TA IN ADVANCE commenced to hang outwards when being restrained to obtain cover behind FOLLOW ROCKNROLL and contacted the sulky wheel of that gelding, resulting in TA IN ADVANCE breaking gait. After considering all evidence including viewing the available patrol films, Stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of TA IN ADAVNCE had been the major contributing factor in this incident and as such took no further action.

Driver T Sheehy (FRANKIE J HOLDEN NZ) appeared before Stewards in relation to his whip use in the run to the finish line. Mr Sheehy was subsequently reprimanded under HR156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking action. When considering penalty, Stewards were mindful that Mr Sheehy had not breached this rule since August 2024 when receiving a suspension. Subsequently, Stewards placed Mr Sheehy on notice that if he was to reoffend in the near future, Stewards would consider a further suspension of his license to drive in races.

RACE 5 – OAKFORD STOCK FEEDS 4YO+ PACE (2100MS)

MASTER LEIGHTON (D Harper) – Broke gait in the score up. Trainer G Gilbert was advised the gelding will now be placed outside the draw in future mobile barrier events.

RACE 6 – FURPHY FRIDAY DIV.2 PACE (1609MS)

General: Driver AJ Markham (BONSTAR) was reprimanded under HR162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the starting gate prior to the start.

RACE 7 – SKY CHANNEL 2YO WESTBRED PACE (1609MS)

No racing incidents to report
