RWWA STEWARDS’ SUMMARY REPORT
MEETING HELD AT BUNBURY ON TUESDAY 9 DECEMBER 2025
Weather: Fine Track: Good
Stewards:C Brown (MT), S Jerrard (SR), M Thomas (SR), R Frazer (MT)
Veterinary Surgeon:Dr P Repton
Starters:W Best (Starter/Gear), K Reeves (Driver/Brands)
Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.
Due to Drivers A De Campo (indisposed) and D Harper (unwell) being unavailable, the following Driver changes were approved:
Race 1 – THE BETTOR SIDE – A Markham
Race 2 – IT AINTEASY – D Miller
Race 4 – MIKI WINDERMERE – A Markham
Race 5 – RAJAH ROCKS – A Markham
Race 8 – THUNDER WARRIOR – A Vidovich
RACE 1 – TABTOUCH PACE (2100MS)
ELITE FLEET (L Elliot) - In relation to the unplaced performance, Trainer J Prentice advised after the gelding failed to settle through the middle stages when racing outside the leader and coupled with it having not started in a race for a month, this would have tolled on its finishing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 2 – SKY RACING PACE (2100MS)
IT AINTEASY (D Miller) - Became fractious in the parade ring and after completing a preliminary underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Broke gait making the turn into the front straight on the final occasion and will be stood down from racing for 6 days and until the completion of 1 satisfactory re-qualifying trial.
ELIZABETH AITCH (C Paterson) - Placed back in the mobile draw.
HOKULANI (M Young) - Broke gait after the start was effected and will be placed outside the draw for future mobile barrier events.
DAWSON SHARD (B Johnson) - Commenced to hang inwards during the score up and made contact with the sulky of SOMETHING CERTAIN (T Lynn) and broke gait. Taking into consideration the geldings starting record, will now be placed right outside the draw for future mobile barrier events. Inconvenienced by a galloping runner racing in the front straight on the first occasion. Checked by a galloping runner making the turn into the front straight on the final occasion.
WAHINE TOA (H Charles) - Inconvenienced by a galloping runner making the turn into the front straight on the final occasion.
RACE 3 – TROTS WA PACE (2100MS)
SONIC SEELSTER (A Markham) - Following the event, Driver A Markham advised the near side hopple shortening pin failed to release.
RACE 4 – CAPTAIN AHAB SON OF CHAMPION SIRE CAPTAINTREACHEROUS PACE (2100MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 5 – FRANKEL STREET LIQUOR PACE (2100MS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 6 – HON DON PUNCH MLA PACE (2100MS)
HEZ SPECIAL (T Lynn) - Hung outwards in the latter stages of the score up and galloped out as the start was effected and will be placed outside the draw for future mobile barrier events.
GEARSINAWHIRL (M Miller) - Hung inwards in the latter stages of the score up and galloped out as the start was effected and will be placed outside the draw for future mobile barrier events.
General: Driver D Miller (BROOKVALEGIRL) was reprimanded under the provision of HR156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking motion.
RACE 7 – NEXUS PACE (2100MS)
General: Driver A Suvaljko (IDEAL WHITBY) was shown a section of the patrol vision when racing out of the front straight on the first occasion where when initially attempting to obtain a position on the peg line, he then shifted outwards abruptly to obtain a position in the one wide line. Although there was no interference to any other runner, Driver Suvaljko was advised to exercise more care when making such manoeuvres in future.
General: In relation to SWANBOURNE SPUNK (K Madden) and GO HOME JO (A Markham) locking wheels for a short distance racing in the back straight on the final occasion, Driver Madden advised SWANBOURNE SPUNK had a tendency to hang inwards as GO HOME JO was attempting to improve, making it difficult to shift with that runner. Although Stewards accepted the evidence of Driver Madden, after viewing available angles of the patrol vision, Driver Markham was advised to ensure when attempting to improve and ease runners wider, he does it in a manner that allows the Driver positioned to his outside time to respond.
RACE 8 – BREATHE FINANCIAL SERVICES PACE (2100MS)
DARE TO LIE (S Suvaljko) - Raced roughly at various stages throughout and a warning was issued against the filly's racing manner.
RUBY’S ROMANCE (T Lynn) - Commenced to give ground from the 400m to be beaten 88m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slow to recover. A warning was issued in relation to its performance.
BOOM IT UP (M Young) - Raced in restricted room for a short distance racing into the front straight on the final occasion.
LEEROY ROX (E Suvaljko) - Hung inwards making the turn into the front straight in the final occasion.
