General: On inquiry, Driver A Markham (EASTON QUALITY NZ) accompanied by a Senior Driver was fined $100 under HR168(1)(a) for careless driving in that when shifting inwards to obtain a trailing behind MISTER SAUVAGE (A Shepherd) racing out of the front straight on the first occasion, he contacted that runners off side sulky wheel, causing EASTON QUALITY NZ to break gait with a number of runners following being inconvenienced to varying degrees. When assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr Markham’s unblemished record, relative inexperience as a concession driver, having driven in races for approximately 12 months, and the consequences of his actions, which resulted in a number of runners receiving varying degrees of interference. Further, Mr Markham will receive tutelage from the RWWA Driving Master in relation to this incident.
RACE 4 – FRANKEL STREET LIQUOR PACE (2100MS)
ISLAND TEE REX (D Miller) - Broke gait shortly after the start and will be placed outside the draw for future mobile barrier events.

RACE 6 – RETRAVISION PACE (2100MS)
JORDANO (G Scott) - Driver G Scott was questioned in relation to the tactics he adopted through the early stages in relation to holding the lead when challenged by ELEPHANT ROCK (S Simms) with the gelding tiring over the concluding stages. Mr Scott advised from Barrier 1, he anticipated leading the event, as the gelding has been unable to lead at its most recent starts and he is of the opinion it runs its most competitive races when able to be driven in this fashion as it had won its last race at Busselton on 24th January 2025 when doing so. He further advised after establishing the lead and initially being challenged, he continued to hold the lead as the gelding was travelling comfortably and although the lead time was run in 35.7 seconds, he was able reduce the pace of the race through the middle stages.
ELEPHANT ROCK (S Simms) - After challenging for the lead through the early stages, commenced to over race through the middle stages and failed to settle despite the efforts of its driver.
WAHINE TOA (H Charles) - Out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside the draw for future mobile barrier events.
RACE 7 – CITY AND REGIONAL FUELS 2YO PACE (2100MS)
