STEWARDS REPORT FOR BENDIGO

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – THE EDGE EQUINE MARES PACE (2150 MS)

MADAM REACTOR – Hung in when placed under pressure entering the home straight, tightening POLLY PEACHUM and placing that runner over marker pegs. A warning was placed against the mare.

POLLY PEACHUM – Started to give ground leaving the 400m mark to be beaten 43.5m. Hung in when placed under pressure entering the home straight, tightened by MADAM REACTOR who was hanging in under pressure and placing the mare over marker pegs.

MAHINDI NZ – Raced three wide in the early stages while working forward to obtain a position.

SILVER MYSTIQUE – Out of position when the start was intitiated, a last chance draw was placed against the mare. No clear run over the concluding stages.

RACE 2 – DUAL CODE HALLOWEEN MEETING PACE (2150 MS)

TOPHUT JOHNY – Shifted out shortly after the start, Tightening ONE OFF NZ. A warning was placed against the gelding. Started to give ground leaving the 600m mark to be beaten 47.2m. Driver Chris Alford could offer no explanation to the below market performance of TOPHUT JOHNY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. The stable will monitor the gelding’s recovery and report to the stewards if any issues arise within the next 48 hours.

ONE OFF NZ – Tightened shortly after the start and locked wheels with BRONSKI MOMENT when TOPHUT JOHNY shifted out. Held up for clear running entering the home straight.

BRONSKI MOMENT – Tightened shortly after the start and locked wheels with ONE OFF NZ when REINDER hung in shortly after the start.

REINDER – Hung in shortly after the start tightening BRONSKI MOMENT. Started to give ground leaving the 450m mark to be beaten 46.1m.

PAYUP ORLEAVE – Surrendered the lead to TOPHUT JOHNY approaching the 1600m mark. Inconvenienced leaving the 600m mark when TOPHUT JOHNY started to give ground. Held up for clear running entering the home straight.

BUDD SIDEWINDER – Due to having competed in more than 200 lifetime races and in accordance with HRV policy was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SHAQ – Checked shortly after the start when numerous runners were tightened. Raced three wide in the early stages while working forward to obtain a position. Pulled hard in the middle stages of the race.

YANKEE GAMBLER – Checked shortly after the start when numerous runners were tightened.

RACE 3 – ROTHACKER STOCKFEEDS MARES TROT (1650 MS)

ALWAYS SKYE HIGH – Began pacing in the early stages of the score-up and was out of position when the start was initiated. Consequently, ALWAYS SKYE HIGH will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile starts. Shortly after the start, the horse was retired from the race. As a result, ALWAYS SKYE HIGH will be required to complete one satisfactory stewards trial before returning to racing.

BOUTIKA – Raced three wide in the early stages while working forward to obtain a position.

STRAIGHT TO THETOP – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 400m mark.

SUNNYCOAST SECRET – Broke gait in the early stages of the score up when free of interference, out of position when the start was initiated. As a result, SUNNYCOAST SECRET will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile races. Hung in when placed under pressure entering the home straight contacting marker pegs.

RACE 4 – YORKSHIRE PARK STANDARDBREDS MARES PACE (1650 MS)

HARLEY BLUE – Hung in for a short distance after the start. Pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the race. Hung in when placed under pressure entering the home straight contacting marker pegs, before using the sprint lane.

JILLIBY TIDALWAVE – Pulled hard in the middle stages of the race.

SHAWAMI LASS NZ – Pulled hard in the early stages of the race. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

DOT BALL – Held up for majority of the home straight and not fully tested over the concluding stages.

IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO – Raced three wide late cover from the 800m mark.

MY DARLING DANCER – Due to having not competed in races for more than twelve (12) months was examined by the veterinarian before and after the race which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

MARTHA LAVINIA – Raced three wide late without cover from the 800m mark.

FINAL BOW – Held up for clear running entering the home straight before using the sprint lane.

RACE 5 – BENDIGO POWDER COATING PACE (2150 MS)

VALIENTE – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the race. – Held up for clear running entering the home straight before using the sprint lane.

CLEAR LEFT NZ – Started to give ground leaving the 400m mark to be beaten 26.6m. Driver Tasmyn Potter could offer no explanation to the below market performance of CLEAR LEFT NZ. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. The stable will monitor the gelding’s recovery and report to the stewards if any issues arise within the next 48 hours.

MONGIANA – Raced three wide in the early stages, before working forward to race outside the leader approaching the 1400m mark.

MY ULTIMATE SKEETA – Started to give ground leaving the 400m mark to be beaten 49.3m.

RACE 6 – RESULTS FINANCIAL SERVICES FILLIES & MARES PACE (1650 MS)

POPS JOY – Broke gait when free of interference approaching the 1350m mark. A last chance to race truly was placed against the filly.

RACE 7 – NIGEL MILNE HARNESS RACING (INSANITY LODGE) FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN TROT (2150 MS)

OBSIDIAN SURPRISE – Started to tire approaching the 800m mark to be beaten 102.4m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. OBSIDIAN SURPRISE will be required to complete one satisfactory stewards’ trial before returning to racing.

TOLIMA – Started to give ground leaving the 700m mark to be beaten 86.1m. A last chance to race competitively was placed against the mare.

REINE DE LA LUNE – Was inclined to hang in at various stages throughout the race, making contact with marker pegs. Started to give ground leaving the 600m mark to be beaten 79.8m. A last chance to race competitively was placed against the mare.

SOUTHWIND CHLOE – Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages of the race.

DREAMS OF LOVE – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the race.
