STEWARDS REPORT FOR BENDIGO

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted. 

 

RACE 1 – STONEMANS VILLAGE IGA & LIQUOR STRATHDALE PACE (2150 MS)

General – Race start time amended to 5.58pm.

IM A DENNY TOO NZ – Hung in and contacted the sulky of Cee Oh Dee on the first turn, warning issued.  Shifted in at the 1800m, locking wheels with Ace Montana.  Inconvenienced at the 900m by Cee Oh Dee.

FEEL THE REIGN – (200+ starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

CEE OH DEE– Sulky contacted and sustained a flat tyre on the first turn.  Driver Lauren White cautioned for shifting ground at the 900m, inconveniencing Im A Denny Too NZ.  Dropped knee boot in running.

ACE MONTANA– Inconvenienced and locked wheels with Im A Denny Too NZ at the 1800m.

ASMILEANDAWINX– Inconvenienced at the 1800m when Im A Denny Too NZ and Ace Montana locked wheels.  Held up for clear running on the final turn.

FEEL THE REIGN- Inconvenienced and raced roughly at the 1800m when Im A Denny Too NZ and Ace Montana locked wheels

RACE 2 –SPRING H20 STAWELL PACING CUP (2ND HEAT)(2150 MS)

MICHEN ROY – Hung out during the score up.  Hung out various stages, warning issued.

VALIENTE– Driver Ryan Sanderson replaced James Herbertson (delayed arrival).

SIMILAN BEACH – (Last start May 2023) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.

RACE 3 – SMARTLOANS BENDIGO PACE (1650 MS)

FAKE CULLECTION – Pulled hard in the score up.  Raced roughly at the 1100m.  Broke twice in running.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality and the mare has now been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

LORIMERMAJOR – Driver Alex Ashwood replaced Rebecca Bartley (indisposed).

BUDD SIDEWINDER – (200+ starts) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither check revealed any abnormalities.  Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

APEICEOFLOU NZ– Inconvenienced at the 900m by Fake Cullection.

NAI HARN BAY – Driver Liam Older cautioned for allowing his whip to project outside of the sulky in the home straight.

EASTBRO JESSE- Inconvenienced at the 900m by Fake Cullection.

RACE 4 – HARAS DES TROTTEURS TROT (2150 MS)

NELLIE JOY – Held up for clear running on the final turn and in the home straight.

TIKTOK - Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations which revealed no abnormality.  Slow to score up and will now be placed right outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY– Out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.  Broke gait when clear of interference at the 800m.

RACE 5 – STRATH HILL BUTCHER 3YO MAIDEN PACE (1650 MS)

ATLAS WISH – Gave ground from the 300m to be beaten 49m into last placing.

TAP TO PAY– Raced roughly in the score up.  Out of position at the start and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

LOULOU BOY– Hung out at the 900m.

RACE 6 – SOUTHERN CROSS OFFICE EQUIPMENT (SCOE) PACE (1650 MS)

ROCCO AMERICANO – Gave ground from the 300m to be beaten 34m into last placing.

MY ULTIMATE BILLY– Inconvenienced by Rocco Americano approaching the home turn.

BUBBA SCRUB– Held up for clear running on the final turn.

RACE 7 – BENDIGO SKI BOAT CENTRE PACE (1650 MS)

SALSBOY – Utilised sprint lane in home straight.

EMER – Late scratching at 10.54am with Stewards Permission.

POLLY PEACHUM – Driver Tony Vlaeminck cautioned for loose reining in the home straight.

RACE 8 – KING OF THE NORTH @ LLOWALONG FARMS MAIDEN TROT (1650 MS)

GREAT HORIZON – Broke gait when clear of interference approaching the first turn.

OPRAH DOUBLE YOU – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations which revealed no abnormality. Out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.  Hung in on the final turn and in the home straight.

JILLIBY TOPGUN– Out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 9 – ALABAR BLOODSTOCK 2YO MAIDEN PACE (1650 MS)

OLLIES MEDAL – Hung out on the first turn.

CARRY ON CORNISH– Broke in the score up and out of position at the start.  The filly trailed the field and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

SHOTINTHEDARK– Driver Darby McGuigan pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 165(1)(b) with the particulars being that on the first turn he directed his gelding towards the inside running line when not one metre clear of the extended front legs of Another Collect which was checked and lost its rightful racing position.  Stewards considered HRV Minimum Penalty Guidelines and Mr.McGuigan had his licence to drive in races suspended for 10 days.
