Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 RACE SERVICES PACE (1650 MS)

Nugget Of Truth and Lagom were both held up for clear racing room rounding the final turn and during the early stages of the home straight.

When improving along the sprint lane, Nugget Of Truth commenced to hang out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Shawami Lass NZ was held up and unable to obtain clear running at any stage over the concluding stages.

RACE 2 GOLD CENTRAL VICTORIA TROT FINAL (2150 MS)

Countess Chiron was continued out of the mobile start barrier draw at the request of trainer Ray Cross.

Cmon Carl Lee galloped as the start was affected. Trailing runner Astro was inconvenienced and was directed around that runner shortly after the start. While trailing the field Cmon Carl Lee galloped approaching the 1800m. Cmon Carl Lee was placed out of the draw for future mobile start races and also placed on its last chance to race truly given its recent racing record.

Zesta La Go Go raced roughly during the latter stages of the score up and was out of position at the start and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Morsure Damour was out of position at the start and will continue out of the draw in future mobile start races. This action also taken at the request of trainer Michelle Wight.

Could Dowitharain showed initial gate speed to lead then pulled hard after being briefly challenged by The Girls Gotflair during the early stages. Could Dowitharain commenced to give ground from approximately the 500m and while giving ground hung in under pressure, contacted a marker peg and galloped approaching the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination of Could Dowitharain revealed the gelding was displaying abnormal respiratory sounds and as such was stood down pending a veterinary clearance.

Dances was inconvenienced when trailing Could Dowitharain in the back straight on the final occasion and was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn before improving in the home straight in 5th place.

Astro tired over the latter stages to be beaten 53m. A warning was issued for a poor performance.

Ima Ziabee tired to be beaten 65m and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

Trainer/driver Michelle Wight was questioned regarding the tactics and overall performance of Morsure Damour after racing three wide during the middle and latter stages before tiring to be beaten 77m. Ms Wight explained that the gelding is one-paced and best suited being driven in a forward position. Ms Wight stated that she had intentions of improving forward after the start however was obliged to wait until later in the race as other runners caught wide found positions closer to the markerpegs. She further added that Morsure Damour felt flat and didn’t respond well when attempting to improve resulting in the gelding being caught wide for the remainder of the race. Ms Wight added that the gelding also raced roughly rounding the final turn while giving ground over the latter stages. Ms Wight stated that she considered that the gelding may not have backed up from its most recent start at Bendigo on 12 July 2022 and intends to have Morsure Damour examined by her veterinarian in the following days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Morsure Damour was displaying a slower than normal recovery rate. Considering the performance and veterinary findings stewards intend to follow up with connections in the following days regarding the gelding’s recovery. Morsure Damour was placed on its last chance to race competitively for a poor performance.

RACE 3 – PRYDES EASIFEED TROTTERS HANDICAP (2150 SS)

The start time of 6.08 pm was incorrectly advertised in the racebook.

Namoscar galloped shortly after the start was affected and will continue out of the draw for future standing start races.

Night Whisperer galloped approaching the 1000m clear of interference.

Here Comes Kyvalley NZ, which led throughout, commenced to tire in the back straight on the final occasion to be beaten 147m. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed Here Comes Kyvalley NZ had suffered a Atrial Fibrillation. Under the provisions of Rule 101C(2)(a) the gelding was stood down for a period of 14 days, to a veterinary certificate inclusive of a satisfactory ECG report and until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

Hateitwhenyourrite hung in under pressure rounding the final turn and contacted marker pegs. A warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.

Glengarriff was directed inwards and contacted the final two marker pegs prior to utilising the sprint lane. Driver Jackie Barker was issued with a caution for failing to make sufficient effort to avoid contacting marker pegs.

RACE 4 – HYGAIN 2YO MAIDEN PACE (1650 MS)

Driver Laura Crossland (Chirripo) was fined $100 under Rule 156(3) for her unapproved whip use after she applied the whip on more occasions than permissible within the final 200m.                                          

RACE 5 - SOLAR1 ELECTRICAL PACE (1650 MS)

Spendthrift raced roughly whilst being restrained shortly after the start and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Friends raced roughly for a brief period shortly after the start and a warning was issued.

Driver Glenn Bull (Treacheroustimes) was fined $100 under Rule 162(1)(y) for failing to adhere to the sectional time requirements for the second quarter which was run in 33.9 seconds.

RACE 6 – ALABAR BLOODSTOCK PACE (2150 MS)

Four Star Saint galloped during the early stages of the score up before regaining its position prior to the start and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw.

Rolling Remona hung in over the latter stages of the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was issued against the mare’s mobile barrier manners.

Shaken Sands pulled hard while racing behind the leader during the middle stages.

Roberts Delight pulled hard during the middle stages.

Shaken Sands was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and entered the sprint lane at the top of the home straight. Roberts Delight was also held up for a clear run rounding the final turn. After entering the sprint lane Roberts Delight commenced to improve quickly between Shaken Sands and Four Star Saint which was giving ground after leading resulting in both Shaken Sands and Roberts Delight momentarily locking wheels.

Rolling Remona was held up and unable to obtain a clear run at any stage.

Forever Moments was held up and unable to obtain a clear run at any stage.

Timely Sovereign was held up during the early stages of the home straight.

RACE 7 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY PACE (2150 MS)

Bring The Flave galloped during the early stages of the score up, was out of position at the start and was placed out of the draw for future mobile start races. Bring The Flave trailed the field for the remainder of the race.

Lottie Moon NZ was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn while on the peg line and during the early stages of the home straight.

Heaven In Locksley was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn and then hung in when directed wider on straightening in the home straight before improving over the latter stages into 5th placing.

Rocking Bugatti was held up for a clear run and unable to improve until approximately the 150m.

RACE 8 – AVIVA COMMUNITIES BENDIGO 3YO VICBRED PACE (2150 MS)

Codename Marcus hung in when caught three wide rounding the turn out of the front straight on the first occasion.

Beats True pulled hard racing on the peg line during the middle stages and was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.

Symphony Stride was held up and unable to obtain a clear run at any stage in the home straight.

RACE 9 – SHEAHAN PLUMBING 3YO TROT (2150 MS)

Goodgirlsavenger was examined by the club veterinarian prior to the race due to the filly returning from surgery to its left hock and right fore fetlock. The filly was cleared of any obvious abnormalities and passed fit to race.

Hold That Gold paced and galloped during the early stages of the score up, was out of position at the start and trailed the field thereafter. Hold That Gold will continue to be drawn wide in future mobile start races.

Brother Joseph galloped under pressure at approximately the 150m. Given the recent racing record of the gelding Brother Joseph will be given one last chance to race truly.

RACE 10 – OXLEY FEED MILL MAIDEN PACE (2150 MS)

Son Of Zodiac was unsuccessful in challenging Rafatom for the lead during the early stages. Rafatom then relinquished the lead to Son Of Zodiac after the gelding commenced to over-race despite the efforts of driver Ellen Tormey during the middle stages.

Social Writer galloped clear of interference at approximately the 500m inconveniencing trailing runner Nananellie. Social Writer will be given one last chance to race truly.

Meggs Is Me was held up and unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight over the concluding stages.

Heavens Away was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn before utilising the sprint lane in the home straight.

RACE 11 – YANKEE ROCKSTAR @ LLOWALONG FARMS PACE (2150 MS)

Ringer Russ, which led the one wide position throughout, tired over the latter stages to be beaten 58m and a warning was issued for a poor performance.

Are You With Me pulled hard as the start was affected and worked to the lead rounding the turn out of the front straight on the first occasion. Are You With Me then raced fiercely and raced clear of the field despite the efforts of driver Kevin Weidenbach Jnr to restrain the gelding. Are You With Me commenced to give ground leaving the back straight on the final occasion to be beaten 45.5m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was displaying a slower than normal recovery rate however no significant abnormalities were detected. Are You With Me will be given one last chance to race truly due to its racing manners.

RACE 12 – J & A MAZZETTI PAINTING PACE (2150 MS)

Driver Ellen Tormey (Terroroan) was cautioned for failing to have this gelding in its barrier position at the start prior to restraining to the rear of the field shortly after the start was affected.

Terroroan pulled hard throughout while racing at the rear of the field.

Fragmental was held up for a clear run rounding the final turn before being directed into the sprint lane over the concluding stages.
