A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Given the poor performance, I Need Agirlfriend was stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

RACE 2 –GREAT OCEAN ROAD REAL ESTATE 2YO MAIDEN TROT (2150 MS)

Start time rescheduled for 6:30pm.

Given the recent racing record, a warning was issued.

NOTHING HITSHARDER – Galloped as the start was effected and the gelding was placed out of the draw for future mobile start races. Trailed the field throughout.

KYVALLEY JOYRIDE NZ – Trainer Brent Lilley was cautioned for the late driver notification of Michael Stanley. Hung out during the latter stages of the score up.

GLENLEA HANOVER – Caught wide during the early stages and pulled hard when being restrained for cover resulting in the mare remaining three wide until the 800m.

MAYWYN JEWEL – Held up for a clear run and unable to obtain a clear run over the latter stages.

RACE 4 – WOODLANDS STUD MARES PACE (1750 MS)

SHAWAMI LASS NZ – Pulled hard and raced fiercely during the early and middle stages before tiring rapidly at the 500m to be beaten 50.8m in 7th placing. Driver Ashley Manton stated that he attempted to cross the runner to his inside, (Favouritehighlight) after the start to race with cover on the peg line behind Spun Silver however did not have the required pace and was left racing outside the leader. Mr Manton then explained that the mare failed to settle and raced fiercely despite his efforts to retrain. He added that while pulling, the deafener hood released prematurely at approximately the 1200m which further contributed to the mare over racing. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare was displaying a slow recovery however no further abnormalities were detected. Given the racing manners and performance, Shawami Lass NZ was placed on its last chance to race truly.

NOTHING SWEETER – Slow to score up and was out of position at the candy pole prior to the start and will be given one last chance in the mobile barrier draw. Held up for a clear run and checked as Shawami Lass NZ gave ground rapidly at the end of the back straight on the final occasion.

TWISTING BY NZ – Slow to begin. Pulled hard while racing on the peg line middle stages. Held up and unable to be fully tested over the latter stages. Driver James Herbertson was questioned regarding the tactics adopted. Mr Herbertson explained that the horse has limited gate speed and was crossed shortly after the start despite his urgings. During the middles stage, he restrained to shift away from the pegline and into the running line then looked to improve three wide in the back straight on the final occasion however Kathys Free hung out forward of him resulting in some inconvenience and Mr Herbertson assessed that Twisting By NZ would be required to race four wide which would have been detrimental to his chances. He then shifted back to the inside and commenced to improve however became held up over the final stages when no clear run was available.

IVANA BYTHESEASIDE – Post race veterinary examination due to the mare being engaged to race at the Kilmore meeting on the following evening with no obvious abnormalities detected.
