STEWARDS REPORT FOR BENDIGO

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

 

RACE 1 HYGAIN BREEDERS CROWN(3YO TROTTING COLTS &GELDINGS (HEAT) (2150 MS)

WALLIS- tired to be beaten 124 metres- stood down from racing pending the completion  of a satisfactory trial.  SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT 8/11/24- Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the use of an unapproved set of three leg hopples by trainer Bill Milner on Wallis. Mr Milner was found guilty of a charge pursuant to AHRR 273(1) " A person shall not use or permit the use of any gear or equipment that is not listed on the HRA Approved Gear List except with the permission of the Chairman Of Stewards" The particulars of the charge were that Mr MIlner had fitted Wallis with a set of half hopples which had been modified with to include a cross hopple on one hind leg. In determining penalty Stewards took into considertation Mr Milners long period in the Industry, his exceptional offence history during that time, published Industry notices regarding horse gear and the principles of specific and general deterrence. A fine of $400 was imposed, of which $200 was suspended for two years conditional on no further offences during that time.

 

BILLY ZIPPIN- raced keenly near the 900 metres.

MISTER BLINDSIDE- pre and post race swab samples taken.

ALDEBARAN MARCUS- tired to be beaten 82 metres and was placed on his last chance to race competitively.

VALTINO- broke simultaneously to the start being effected- placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

DISTANT SUN- hung in during the score up, then hung in and contacted marker pegs near the 250 metres.

REGINALDS REIGN- trotted very roughly in the score up and was significantly out of position at the start- placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Tired to be beaten 139 metres and was stood down from racing pending the completion of a satisfactory trial.

THUNDA STRUCK- inconvenienced near the 900 metres.

LOCKSLEY CAVALIER- broke shortly after the start and then trailed the field – placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 2 WOODLANDS STUD PACE(1650 MS)

General- Stewards inquired into the reasons for TOOBY GOLD being checked and  FRED NED  then also being  contacted by  the sulky of TOOBY GOLD and pacing roughly near the 300 metres. After hearing evidence from drivers Ryan Sanderson(TOOBY GOLD), Ellen Tormey(FRED NED) and from Rod Petroff(FRANCESCO) and reviewing the race vision Mr Petroff was charged pursuant to AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) for directing his horse outwards when not clear of TOOBY GOILD, resulting in Mr Sanderson checking his horse away from FRANCESCO and out onto FRED NED, which was contacted, checked and paced roughly. Mr Petroff reserved his plea, however after giving due consideration to all of the evidence Mr Petroff was found guilty. In determining penalty Stewards took into consideration Mr Petroffs’ plea, recent offence  history in regards to interference related matters, The extent of carelessness and degree of interference and HRV Minimum Penalty Guidelines. A ten day suspension was imposed to commence at midnight on 15/11/24.

FRANCESCO- held up around the home turn.

POLLY PEACHUM- broke immediately after the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO- pre race swab samples taken. Held up around the home turn before using the sprint lane.

FRED NED- checked and paced roughly as a consequence near the 300 metres.

SHAWAMI LASS- gave ground after leading.

NAI HARN BAY- driver Liam Older was fined $100 pursuant to AHRR 162(1)(h) for failing to have his drive in position at the start. Mr Older was also fined $200  pursuant to AHRR 156(2)(a) for using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking action in the home straight. Post race swab samples were taken.

TOOBY GOLD- checked when taken outwards near the 300 metres.

 

RACE 3 – BETAVET BREEDERS CROWN(2YO TROTTING COLTS &GELDINGS)(1ST HEAT) 2150 MS

ALRIGHTY- pulled hard through the middle stages of the race.

ENCHAUFFOUR- post race swab samples taken.

OLD DOMINION- broke free of interference near the 1700 metres- given the geldings recent race manners the gelding was stood down from racing pending the completion of a satisfactory trial.

COMMODUS- hung in racing into the first turn.

BETTOR MAN- out od position at the start and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw.

RAINBOW JESTER- pre race swab samples taken. Out of position at the start and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 4 – BETAVET BREEDERS CROWN(2YO TROTTING COLTS &GELDINGS)(2ND  HEAT) 2150 MS

SAM NIEN- broke in the latter part of the score up causing KYVALLEY JAGGER to be out of position and a false start was called- placed out of the mobile barrier draw.

SPEEDY COMET- slowly out at the start.

REY BAILANDO- pre and post race swab samples taken.

ALDEBARAN DENBAY- tired to be beaten 83 metres- warning issued. In taking this approach Stewards were mindful of the prior false start.

A partial lighting failure occurred during the running  of this race, however with the twilight conditions and partial track lighting operating  no runners were adversely affected.

Race start times for Races  5 to 8 were  initially put back to attempt to rectify the generator failure, however the fault was unable to be remedied and Races 5 to 8 were then postponed and the race meeting concluded.
