STEWARDS REPORT FOR BENDIGO

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted

RACE 1 – FORTY WINKS BENDIGO TROT (2150 MS)

LIZZIES SON – Held up for clear running on the final turn.  Inconvenienced in home straight by Prettyboy Harry which broke gait.

BLACK AND GOLD– Checked and locked wheels with Prettyboy Harry in the home straight. 

MAJESTIC TOOTH– (Raced yesterday 2/7) Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with HRV Animal Welfare Policy.  Neither examination revealed any abnormality.  Driver Kerryn Manning replaced Tayla French.  Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

KYVALLEY PICASSO NZ – Utilised the sprint lane in the home straight.

HIGHPOINT– Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

PRETTYBOY HARRY – Driver Brent Thomson cautioned for half carting entering at the 800m.  Broke under pressure in the home straight, locking wheels and checked.  Relegated one place, back to last in accordance with AHR 155(1) after crossing the finish line in the incorrect gait.

IM BOBBY – Driver Eddie Tappe cautioned for half carting approaching the 700m.

EVERYBODYLOVESME– Driver Jack Laugher failed to appear as the driver in the racebook.

RAKERO BLAZE NZ– Broke in the score up and out of position at the start.  The mare trailed the field and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 2 –GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE(1650 MS)

RAKAJED NZ – Driver Taylor Youl was queried regarding her decision to move from the position behind the leader to the position outside the lead with a lap remaining.  Ms.Youl stated after being unable to hold the lead, she was confident that Rakajed NZ would be strong enough to sit outside the eventual winner American Legacy NZ given the early work done be that gelding to find the front.  Ms.Youl added that her gelding races best when able to build momentum and was mindful that racing behind the leader wasn’t ideal.  Stewards noted that Ms.Youl’s explanation.

THE SPORTZ STAR- Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

MONGIANA– Held up for clear running in the final 100m.

OZZIE BATTLER– Hung out in the score up.

MY ULTIMATE SKEETA– Raced roughly at the 600m and again at the 400m.  Driver Abby Sanderson stated the gelding was hitting his knee and a gear alteration would be made prior to the next race start.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormality.  Stewards noted the comments. 

RACE 3 – GOLD CENTRAL VICTORIA PACE (1650 MS)

CLEM MCARDLE– Driver Jordan Chibnall cautioned for shifting ground in the home straight, inconveniencing Kimcando.

KIMCANDO– Inconvenienced by Clem McArdle in the home straight.

YANKEE GAMBLER– Pulled hard in the score up.

RACE 4 – WOODLANDS STUD 2YO PACE (2150 MS)

SOHO MARGARITA – Driver Chris Alford failed to appear as the driver in the racebook.

SOHO AMERICANO– Trainer Michael Stanley cautioned for failing to have the brands adequately clipped.

CROCODILE SOCKS– Raced roughly on the final turn.

RACE 5 – SIMONDS HOMES BENDIGO PACE (2150 MS)

BETTER SAINT – Hung out on the first turn.  Pulled hard behind the leader middle stages before contacting marker pegs at the 900m after Soho Empire State shied Better Saint then pulled hard for some distance from that stage.  A warning was issued against the racing manners of the gelding.

SOHO EMPIRE STATE– ($1.30fav) Driver Michael Stanley was queried regarding the overall performance of the gelding. Mr.Stanley stated the gelding never travelled comfortably in the lead, given this was the first time leading in a race.  Mr.Stanley added that as the bell rang with a lap remaining, Soho Empire State shied and placed Ozzie Corka wider on the track.  Stewards noted the comments of Mr.Stanley and a warning was placed against the racing manners of the gelding.

ANGEL OF ANGER– Inconvenienced when Soho Empire State shied at the winning post with a lap remaining.

OZZIE CORKA– Hung in middle stages when racing outside the lead.  Inconvenienced at the 900m when Soho Empire State shied and was then placed wider on the track for the remainder.  Hung in and broke gait at the 300m and has been stood down from racing until the completion of one satisfactory trial.

TESTIFIED– Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

KITSUNE– Checked and raced roughly on the first turn.

YA BOTTOM DOLLAR– Driver Rodney Petroff pleaded guilty to a charge under AHR Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference with the particulars of the charge being that on the first turn he allowed his gelding to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of Kitsune resulting in contact being made to the hind leg of that runner which was checked and raced roughly.  When assessing penalty, Stewards considered Mr.Petroff’s guilty plea, his driving record relevant to this rule and the degree of interference.  Mr.Petroff had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight 5 July 2024.

LA FRANK– Out of position at the start and will continue to be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

RACE 6 – HARAS DES TROTTEURS TROT (1650 MS)

HARD ROCK ANGEL – Hung in and contacted marker pegs on the final turn.

KYVALLEY MISTY– Broke gait when clear of interference at the 500m.

ALDEBARAN MARCUS– Held up for clear running on the final turn.

AETOS DYNAMIS– Pulled hard early stages.

RACE 7 – ALDEBARAN PARK TROT (1650 MS)

WILL PATRICK – Tired to be beaten 76m into 7th placing, warning issued.

AZALEA MAE– Began badly and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

MANDA KYVALLEY– Trainer Brent Lilley cautioned for failing to advise Stewards of the driving tactics to be adopted on the stable runners.  Driver Tristan Larsen cautioned for failing to be in position at the start.  Broke gait when clear of interference at the 600m and placed on last chance to race truly.

JOHNNY SIX KIDS– Broke in the score up and out of position at the start.  The gelding will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.

 

RACE 8 – PRYDES EASIFEED 3YO MAIDEN PACE (2150 MS)

AIM TO PLEASE – Pulled hard middle stages.

MAJORS CREEK– Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane.

ONE LAST BELLE– Broke after the start and will now be placed outside of the draw in future mobile start events.
