RACE 1 – S WILSON & ASSOCIATES PACE – 2140 metres

ELEGANTDANCER– Pre-race blood test.  A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse not having competed in the previous 12 months.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. 

WHERESTHEBOY– Contacted the sulky of DANCING WITH MY EX when that runner was progressing to the lead approaching the 1700 metres. 

DANCING WITH MY EX– Worked forward to the lead passing the 1700 metres.  When crossing to the lead had its near side sulky wheel contacted by WHERESTHEBOY.  Driver Peter Green Jnr was fined $100 under rule 170(1)(a) for allowing his right foot to drop from the sulky rest on numerous occasions over the concluding 400 metres.  Post-race swab.

LANI KAI BEACH – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. 

 

RACE 2 – STRONG AND SMART PACE – 2140 metres

MY FRIEND MOLLY– Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 49.6 metres.

TAKE A HIKE NZ– Post-race swab.

MISTER MANAGER– Three wide early before working forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.

BETTOR BE LUCKY– Pre-race blood test.  Checked between the 500 metres and the 250 metres when held up behind horses and unable to secure clear running.

RUM DELIGHT NZ– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. 

 

RACE 3 – TAYTAS FOOD CO PACE – 1740 metres

NOTMUCHUPTOP– Approaching the 1550 metres was checked and broke as a result of ROGERVALERIO LOMBO shifting down the track. 

COLLECTIVE WORKS– Galloped out for which a warning was issued.  Inconvenienced passing the 1550 metres as a result of NOTMUCHUPTOP breaking gait.

PLAY SOUTHERNLAND– Passing the 400 metres commenced to race roughly before contacting and racing inside the line of marker pegs.  In view of the gelding’s record PLAY SOUTHERNLAND was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

ROGERVALERIO LOMBO– Driver Peter Green Jnr was found guilty of a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the 1550 metres he has allowed his gelding to shift down the track when insufficiently clear of NOTMUCHUPTOP causing that runner to be checked and break gait along with numerous other runners in the race being checked to varying degrees.  Driver Peter Green Jnr had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 25 days to commence midnight 10 June 2024.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered Mr Green Jnr’s plea, record in relation to the rule and the circumstances of the incident.

MERRYWOOD TONY– Inconvenienced passing the 1550 metres as a result of NOTMUCHUPTOP breaking gait.

RIPSTONE SNORTER– Pre-race blood test.  Severely checked behind NOTMUCHUPTOP when that runner broke gait. 

BETTER HARLEY– Inconvenienced after the start when COLLECTIVE WORKS galloping out.

MEMPHIS FURY– Approaching the 1500 metres was inconvenienced as a result of NOTMUCHUPTOP breaking gait.

MAURLEN BOY– Inconvenienced passing the 1550 metres as a result of NOTMUCHUPTOP breaking gait.  Post-race swab.

 

RACE 4 – PANANIA DIGGERS RSL SPRINT CLASSIC – 1335 metres

TE QUIRO– Trainer Seaton Grima was questioned in relation to the overall performance of the mare after being able to lead and the failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 16.6 metres.  Mr Grima explained he was extremely disappointed in the mare and he would reassess the mares’ racing future within his stable. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

LYNNSANITY– Pre-race blood test. Approaching the 250 metres placed in restricted room and was checked and broke as a result when RADIANT AMBER shifted up the track slightly.

MITCHELLS RUN– Sulky contacted by LYNNSANITY when that runner was shifted wider on the track approaching the 250 metres. Post-race swab.

HEAVENLY BELLE– Caught wide early before being restrained to a position in the running line passing the 800 metres.

MERRYWOOD PAUL- Approaching the 250 metres placed in restricted room when RADIANT AMBER shifted up the track slightly.

RADIANT AMBER– Inconvenienced approaching the 250 metres when TE QUIRO was giving ground causing RADIANT AMBER to shift up the track slightly. As a result of this movement this carried MERRYWOOD PAUL wider towards LYNNSANITY which was taken wider towards the running of MITCHELLS RUN causing LYNNSANITY to contact the sulky of MITCHELLS RUN and was checked and broke. Given the minimal movement of RADIANT AMBER and no driver was found to be careless no further action was taken. Obtained a run to the inside of TE QUIRO over the concluding stages of the event.

 

RACE 5 – HARLEY CRANES LADYSHIP PACE – 1740 metres

ALL NIGHT LONG NZ– Post-race swab.

BOLERO– Pre-race blood test.

HAWKE EYE– Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start and as a result will be continued out of the draw in mobile starts.

 

RACE 6 – CLUB RIVERS TROTTERS CUP – 2540 metres

LOVE WHO– Fractious and delayed the start for which a warning was issued.  Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 87 metres.  The gelding was issued its last chance to race truly.

TARENTAISE– Fractious delayed the start for which a warning was issued.  Checked and broke passing the 2000 metres as a result of WEWILLSEEHOWWEGO breaking gait.  Broke free of interference passing the 700 metres for which a warning was issued.

WYNBERG WATCH NZ– Reared and raced roughly shortly after the start.  In view of the gelding’s recent record, will now be excluded from the draw in standing starts.  Approaching the 2300 metres broke for which a warning was issued.

DOWN UNDER EARL– Surrendered the lead passing the 1800 metres before working forward to the lead passing the 1600 metres.  Post-race swab.

WEWILLSEEHOWWEGO– Broke gait on two occasions, firstly passing the 2000 metres and again passing the 700 metres. In view of the gelding’s recent record WEWILLSEEHOWWEGO will be required to perform one requalifying trial.

VALLEY STAR NZ– Worked forward to the lead passing the 1800 metres before surrendering the lead passing the 1600 metres.

KING OF LOVE NZ– Pre-race blood test.

THEBESTBOURBON– Checked and broke passing the 2000 metres as a result of WEWILLSEEHOWWEGO breaking gait.

AFFAIRE DE COVER– Paced and broke gait shortly after the start and will be continued out of the draw in standing starts.  Passing the 1200 metres was checked and broke as a result of the pace of the race easing.

 

RACE 7 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 2140 metres

MICHAEL CAINE NZ– Pre-race blood test.  Checked between the 600 metres and the 450 metres as a result of being held up behind tiring horses. 

YOUTAKEMYBREATHAWAYNZ – Checked between the 600 metres and the 350 metres when held up behind the tiring TOMMY WATERHOUSE NZ.

YANKEE IDEAL– Caught wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field passing the 1400 metres. 

TOMMY WATERHOUSE NZ– Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared fit to start.  Driver Josh Gallagher was questioned in relation to his driving tactics and the overall performance of the gelding after leading the gelding commenced to tire passing the 600 metres before being beaten 75.1 metres.  Mr Gallagher explained that it was the instructions from trainer Mr Pizzuto to attempt to lead as he felt the horse had been racing well he also added that he was extremely disappointed in the overall performance of TOMMY WATERHOUSE NZ.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  In view of the gelding’s record TOMMY WATERHOUSE NZ was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

RACING TIME– Caught wide early before working forward to a position outside the leader passing the 1800 metres.

TURBO TOMMY– Post-race swab.

 

RACE 8 – CLUB CONDELL PARK M H TREUER MEMORIAL (GROUP 3) – 2540 metres

LAST TANGO IN HEAVEN NZ– Trainer Seaton Grima was fined the sum of $100 under rule 210 for failing to notify Will Rixon as the driver by the prescribed time.  Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 165.1 metres.  In view of the overall performance the gelding will now be required to perform one requalifying trial.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY– Pre-race blood test.  Post-race swab.

PAS GUARANTEE– Passing the 300 metres had its off side sulky wheel contacted and flattened when giving ground and JAY OK was improving to the outside of that runner.

DON LOU– Pre-race blood test.  Commenced to improve three wide passing the 2000 metres before working forward to the lead passing the 1850 metres.  Driver Seaton Grima was fined the sum of $100 under rule 170(1)(a) for allowing his right foot to drop from the sulky rest on numerous occasions over the concluding stages and also approaching the line his left foot slipped from the sulky rest.  Post-race swab.

LOYALIST NZ– Trainer Joe Conolly was questioned in relation to the overall performance of the gelding after failing to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 43.2 metres into 8th position.  Mr Conolly explained that he felt the gelding was disappointing and he would report any advert findings in the coming days.

JAY OK– Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.  When improving to the outside of PAS GUARANTEE passing the 300 metres contacted and flattened the sulky wheel of that runner.

MACH DA VINCI NZ– Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 66.1 metres.  In view of the performance of the horse it was issued with its last chance to race truly.  A post-race veterinary examination reported the horse had a slow recovery rate.
