RACE 2 – HEALTH FOOD SYMETRY PACE – 1730metres
MACS A DUDE – Stewards questioned Driver J. Turnbull in regards to the driving tactics adopted on the gelding in particular the reasons for not taking the sprint lane shortly after entering the home straight. J. Turnbull stated that approaching the home turn he was of the opinion that IDEAL DENNY which was trailing the leader HEZ ON THE BUZZER NZ would utilise the sprint lane which would then allow him the opportunity to improve to the outside of HEZ ON THE BUZZER NZ and to the inside of THE HANDSOME ONE. J. Turnbull added that when shifting wider he was unable to improve to the outside of HEZ ON THE BUZZER NZ as that runner shifted wider and at the same time FIFTY THREE STARS improved to that runners outside and as a result he was unable to shift wider. J. Turnbull added that due to the shift of HEZ ON THE BUZZER NZ wider on the track IDEAL DENNY wasn’t required to utilise the sprint lane however due to committing wider on the track prior to this occurring he was unable to shift back to that positon. Stewards noted the comments.

General:
Stewards considered an objection by Driver T. Day who drove 3rd placegetter EVELYNS DRAGON against 2nd placegetter ULTIMATE EMPIRE for alleged interference near the 150 meters. After taking evidence from both drivers and reviewing the films it was established that near the 150 meters ULTIMATE EMPIRE shifted in under pressure and inconvenienced EVELYNS DRAGON before both runners then had an uninterrupted run to the finish with a 2m margin between both runners at the end of the race. As Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied had the incident not taken placed that EVELYNS DRAGON would have finished in advance of ULTIMATE EMPIRE the objection was dismissed and all-clear given on the judges numbers.
