RACE 1 – THE TAB APP WARATAH HEAT – 1730 metres
GABBYS SPORTSTAR– Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.
ULTIMATE TROUBLE– Pre-race blood sample. When questioned in relation to the performance, driver J Turnbull explained that despite his efforts after the start he was unable to establish the lead and obliged to race without cover during the early and middle stages. He said that the mare travelled relatively well until being placed under pressure approaching the 500 metres and from that point responded moderately but was unable to improve. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr N Turnbull said that the mare’s recovery would be monitored prior to making a decision on a future racing program, with the intention to have it placed in lower grade races.
REBOUNDER– When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in the early stages, trainer/driver Mr J O’Shea explained that he had attempted to establish the lead if possible without exerting too much pressure, however when unable to achieve this he was trapped wide in the early stages and obliged to restrain to the rear of the field after being unable to obtain a position in the running line.
MORESCO– Post-race swab sample.
RACE 2 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETTY PLATT PACE – 1730 metres
ZEN MASTER– Pre-race blood sample.
TULHURST TERROR– Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.

RACE 3 – DUDLEY HOTEL PACE – 1730 metres
IDEAL DENNY– When questioned in relation to the performance, driver H Ross explained that he had been instructed to lead if possible, however after being driven with vigour after the start he was unable to achieve this and was obliged to race without cover during the middle stages. He said that whilst in this position IDEAL DENNY had a tendency to over race, then when placed under pressure approaching the 400 metres could not respond and weakened from that point. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
ROAD TO RECOVERY– Post-race swab sample.
WINDY HILL LUCY– Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 4 – BREED YOUR MARE AT SUCCESS STUD PACE – 2260 metres
DORRISTOPAYTHEBILL– Pre-race blood sample.

HALL STITCHED UP– Hung in after the start and was eased passing the winning post on the first occasion when racing tight on the inside of MAJOR ENVY NZ, which shifted in marginally when not quite clear. Over raced during the middle stages.
MAJOR ENVY NZ– Hung in for some distance after the start. Post-race swab sample.
ALWAYSBMYPONY– Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn, then in the early part of the straight when being shifted out in an effort to obtain clear running, contacted the sulky of MAJORY ENVY NZ, became unbalanced, broke stride and galloped for a short distance and was restrained in the run to the finish. Subsequently I Ross the driver of ALWAYSBMYPONY was reprimanded under AR 168(1)(a) for attempting to establish a run where there was insufficient room to do so.

GRACE SHANNON– Raced greenly in the early stages then shifted in abruptly approaching the turn after the start despite the efforts of its driver which caused BRONX which was racing on its inside to be checked very severely, blundering and breaking stride. Connections were advised that prior to racing again GRACE SHANNON must perform tractably in an official qualifying trial.
BRONX– A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained minor abrasions to both its fetlock joints and displayed a slow recovery rate.
JOHEMIAN– Following required satisfactory performance connections were advised, that the gelding would be eligible to take it place in the mobile barrier draw. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
