RACE 1 – GC37 YEARLING PAYMENTS DUE 29 JULY PACE – 2260 metres

GENERAL – Race 1 was delayed due a malfunction with the mobile and subsequently the backup mobile was utilised.

KULANI COURAGE– Trainer Mat Rue was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to advise Justin Reynolds as the driver of the gelding by the prescribed time.  Sulky contacted passing the 300 metres. 

GLAMOUR FOX– Contacted the sulky of KULANI COURAGE passing the 300 metres and as a result was checked and broke. 

THE RAINBOW BEACH– Pre-race blood test.  Worked forward in the early stages before finding the lead passing the 1800 metres.  Post-race swab.

NELSON SHANNON– Broke in the score up and upon review no action was taken due to the speed of the mobile at that stage being the speed of the mobile.  Passing the 300 metres hung in then shifted out momentarily causing KULANI COURAGE to be carried up the track and as a result that gelding’s sulky was contacted by GLAMOUR FOX and GLAMOUR FOX was checked and broke.  Entering the home straight NELSON SHANNON hung in and contacted a marker peg for which a warning was issued.

 

RACE 2 – GC38 FOAL NOMINATIONS DUE 31 AUGUST PACE – 1730 metres

COUNTRYS DAUGHTER– Pre-race blood test.  Slow to begin from the mobile.

STEPH– Post-race swab.

CHELSEAS GIRL– Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find a position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres.

PALE FACE JO– Caught wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field passing the 1350 metres. 

STUDLEIGH SONNY– Improved three wide from the 1350 metres before finding a position outside the leader at the 1050 metres. 

PUNTERS DELIGHT– Improved three wide passing the 850 metres.

 

RACE 3 – VALE BUDDY KING PACE – 1730 metres

HALL CASH– Trainer Andrew Hall was fined the sum of $50 under Rule 210 for failing to advise John O’Shea as the driver of the gelding by the prescribed time.

DANCE WITH SOMBODY– Raced roughly in the early part of the score up and moved wider on the track inconveniencing SIR HAYWOOD. Upon review of the incident no action was taken due to the speed of the mobile.

SIR HAYWOOD– Raced roughly in the score up as a result of being inconvenienced by DANCE WITH SOMBODY and as a result moved up the track checking ZACHARY SHANNON.

ZACHARY SHANNON– Checked in the score up as a result of a chain reaction from DANCEWITH SOMEBODY and SIR HAYWOOD both moving up the track.  Stewards delayed the all clear to determine whether ZACHARY SHANNON had been afforded a fair start at that stage.  After taking evidence from driver Travis Bullock and reviewing the films Stewards believed that ZACHARY SHANNON had been denied a fair start and acting under Rule 141(1)(b) declared ZACHARY SHANNON a non-runner.

ART THOU LEXY– Pre-race blood test.  Worked forward in the early stages of the event before finding the lead passing the 1400 metres.  Post-race swab.

BETTER THAN LEXY– Improved three wide passing the 1400 metres before finding a position outside the leader approaching the 1150 metres. 

THE HANDSOME ONE– Approaching the 200 metres became unbalanced and broke gait.  In view of the gelding’s recent record THE HANDSOME ONE was issued with a warning.

 

RACE 4 – COBBITTY EQUINE WARATAH HEAT – 1730 metres

PIPPO NIEN– Driver Nathan Turnbull was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip in a more than a wrist only flicking motion in the early stages of the home straight.

TULHURST TERROR– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Caught wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to find the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres. 

FREDDY SINGH - Driver Ashlee Grives was cautioned for her whip use over the concluding stages of the event.

ROLL THE SEVEN– Three wide in the early stages with a trail behind TULHURST TERROR before working forward to find the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres. Driver Amanda Turnbull was cautioned for her whip use over the concluding stages of the event. Post-race swab.

MIGHTY ATOM– Pre-race blood test.  Rounding the first turn hung out and raced roughly.  In view of the gelding’s recent record and the overall effect of the incident MIGHTY ATOM was given its last chance to race truly.  Rounding the final turn hung in and contacted marker pegs.

 

RACE 5 – BLING IT ON PACE – 1730 metres

TOM THE CURIOUS– Raced roughly around the first turn.  Over raced at various stages of the event.  Post-race swab.

WINDY HILL WALLY– Hung out after the start and locked wheels with WESTERN BELLE. 

WESTERN BELLE– Hung in after the start and locked wheels with WINDY HILL WALLY.

BEAL STREET– Pre-race blood test.  Had a tendency to over race throughout the event. 

BRACKEN WARRIOR– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having not competed in excess of 12 months.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

 

RACE 6 – MOORHEAD CRANES PACE – 1730 metres

OUR UNCLE LES– Had a tendency to over race throughout the event and passing the 550 metres contacted the sulky of FAR OUT RINGO and raced roughly. 

ALPHA XENA– Fractious in the score up and was out of position at the start.  In view of mare’s recent record a warning was issued against ALPHA XENA.  Commenced to tire passing the 800 metres before being beaten 89.5 metres.  In view of the mare’s recent record ALPHA XENA will be required to perform two requalifying trials and also be stood down for a period of 14 days.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

NIFTY RONALD– Pre-race blood test.

FAR OUT RINGO– Sulky contacted passing the 550 metres as a result of OUR UNCLE LES over racing and getting onto the back of the sulky.  Post-race swab.

WHY NOT SURF– Driver Travis Bullock was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for applying the whip in more than a wrist only flicking motion in the early stages of the home straight.

BILL SHANNON– Worked forward before finding the lead passing the 1200 metres. 

IM MAJOR HARRY– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the horse having competed in excess of 200 race starts.  Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Inconvenienced passing the 550 metres as a result of OUR UNCLE LES over racing and contacting the sulky of FAR OUT RINGO.

 

RACE 7 – BARKERS BUTCHERY MAIDEN PACE – 2260 metres

BOLDINO– Pre-race blood test. 

TORQUE NO FEAR– Out of position at the start and in view of the speed of the mobile no action was taken.

MILLYS BEACH– Out of position at the start and in view of the speed of the mobile no action was taken. Passing the 300 metres hung out and raced roughly before hanging in and as a result the sulky was contacted by CAUGHT OUT who had progressed to the inside of MILLYS BEACH. In view of the gelding’s racing manners Stewards believed it was appropriate that MILLYS BEACH be required to perform one requalifying trial.

CAUGHT OUT– Passing the 300 metres contacted the sulky of MILLYS BEACH and as a result was checked and broke. 

LINCOLN JAY– Out of position at the start and in view of the speed of the mobile no action was taken.

 

RACE 8 – THE TAB APP TWO YEAR OLD PACE – 1730 metres

THE SMIRKING GUN– Broke in the early stages of the score and took no competitive part in the event.  In view of the filly’s recent record THE SMIRKING GUN will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw. 

SPEEDY SPORT– Commenced to tire passing the 450 metres to be beaten 107.9 metres.  In view of the gelding’s recent record and overall performance SPEEDY SPORT will now be required to perform one requalifying trial.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

FIREFLY– Pre-race blood test.  Worked forward before finding the lead passing the 1200 metres.

SAVEEON– Post-race swab.
