RACE 1 – GC38 FOAL NOMINATIONS CLOSE 31 AUGUST PACE – 2260 metres

WATTOSBLAZEOFGLORY– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Surrendered the lead to RACING TIME at the 1800 metres. 

THE HANDSOME ONE– Checked and broke at the 950 metres when trailing HALL CASH who yielded ground quickly. 

COUNTRYS DAUGHTER– Checked at the 950 metres when shifting to the inside of THE HANDSOME ONE.

HALL CASH– Approaching the 1000 metres lost ground sharply and as a result driver M Rue retired the filly from the race.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have suffered an atrial fibrillation.  Connections were advised the filly would be stood down for a period of 14 days, it must also requalify on one occasion and furthermore must submit a veterinary certificate with an ECG.

RACING TIME– Worked forward three wide in the early stages until obtaining the lead at the 1800 metres.  Post-race sample collected.

SAVEEON– Pre-race urine sample.  Worked forward three wide from the 1200 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader at the 1000 metres.  At the request of connections the filly will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

 

RACE 2 – HARNESS TRADING RING AUSTRALIA PACE – 1730 metres

FREDDY SINGH– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Post-race sample collected.

BUZZ LIKA BEE– Raced in restricted racing room in the home straight on the final occasion until the final 50 metres. 

 

RACE 3 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND LADYSHIP PACE – 1730 metres

SHANERRA STAR NZ– Surrendered the lead at the 1300 metres to FEELING HALL GOOD.

GLAMOUR FOX– Tired over the final 400 metres to be beaten some distance.  Trainer/driver A Grives was queried on the overall performance of the filly.  Mrs Grives was very disappointed in the overall performance as the mare was down in class in today’s event and had worked well leading into the event.  She further added that the mare appeared moody in the warm up and did not show her normal gate speed as expected and had a tendency to hang in throughout the event.  Mrs Grives stated she would consider the mare’s racing future in her stables in the coming days.

DIXIEDOLITTLE– Inconvenienced at the 200 metres when racing to the inside of OURSWEETPOG who had shifted in under pressure.

OURSWEETPOG– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Hung in under pressure at the 200 metres and as a result has tightened the running of DIXIEDOLITTLE.  A warning was issued.  Post-race sample collected. 

SHE OWNS THE DAY– Became unbalanced and broke stride at the 1550 metres.  A warning was issued.

BETA JEWEL– Worked forward three wide from the 1100 metres until obtaining the position outside of the leader at the 800 metres.

FEELING HALL GOOD– Worked forward three wide in the early stages until obtaining the lead at the 1350 metres.  Whilst leading the event had a tendency to over race. 

 

RACE 4 – BATHURST TOYOTA PACE – 1730 metres

CARLO GAMBINO NZ– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding had not raced for over 12 months.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Surrendered the lead to THE RAINBOW BEACH at the 1400 metres.  Post-race sample collected.

BOMANI– Driver D Hewitt was questioned on his tactics over the final 500 metres in particular  when leaving the 400 metres if there was an opportunity to shift his runner wider.  D Hewitt advised his instructions were to drive the gelding on the marker line, considering these tactics when leaving the 400 metres elected to stay on the marker line and although his momentum was slightly halted at the 250 metres he was able to obtain clear running when the sprint lane became available and believed the gelding raced to the best of his ability.  His comments were noted.

TULHURST TERROR– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding had competed in over 200 race starts.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Pre-race blood sample collected. 

THE RAINBOW BEACH– Raced three wide in the early stages until working forward to the lead at the 1400 metres. 

 

RACE 5 – NATIONAL TROTGUIDE PACE – 1730 metres

LOUIE THE PUNTER NZ– Had a tendency to shift out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.  Driver D Hewitt was cautioned on his whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.  Post-race sample collected.

KEY DEFENDER– Pre-race blood sample collected. 

MISTER HAYWOOD– Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 6 – TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY 2YO PACE – 1730 metres

MISTER QUIRK– Pre-race blood sample collected.  Surrendered the lead to FIREFLY at the 1400 metres.  Driver N Turnbull pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 200 metre has shifted his runner up the track when insufficiently clear of BOLDINO and as a result that runner has contacted his sulky and raced rough.  In assessing penalty Stewards took into consideration Mr Turnbull’s guilty plea and his record in regards to this Rule.  His licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 14 days.  The suspension is to commence midnight Friday 19th August 2022.

ROSTOVA– Worked forward to obtain the lead at the 1400 metres.  Surrendered the lead to FIREFLY at the 1000 metres. 

BOLDINO– Approaching the 200 metres contacted the outside sulky wheel of MISTERQUIRK and as a result was checked and raced roughly. 

FIREFLY– Worked forward to obtain the lead at the 1000 metres.  Post-race sample collected.

 

RACE 7 – MOOREHEAD CRANES PACE – 2260 metres

OLIVIA SHANNON– Approaching the 500 metres had a tendency to hang in momentarily losing ground.  A warning was issued.

PRINCE PARKER– When racing under pressure became unbalanced and broke stride at the 50 metres.  A warning was issued.  Connections advised Stewards that the gelding would be going for a spell and as such was stood down for a period of 28 days.

CARBAGANOOSH– Post-race sample collected.

CHELSEAS GIRL– Driver P Wood momentarily dropped his left foot from the sulky rest at the 350 metres. 

KALYPSO SAM– Pre-race blood sample collected. 

 

RACE 8 – CENTRAL WEST PLUMBING & GASFITTING MAIDEN PACE – 1730 metres

COBBITTY AMBITION– Checked and broke at the 1300 metres when BEERSRBETAONSUNDY  broke stride.

BLAZIN CHIMES– Had a tendency to over race throughout the event.  Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance. 

OUR GOOD FORTUNE– Became unbalanced and broke stride shortly after the start.  The mare will now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.  Inconvenienced at the 1300 metres when shifting to the inside of COBBITY AMBITION.  Approaching the 350 metres when racing in restricted room had a tendency to hang out and contacted the sulky wheel of BLAZIN CHIMES racing roughly for a short distance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have suffered a small laceration to the off side fore pastern. 

OURNORTHERNMETEOR– Raced roughly in the latter stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start.  A warning was issued.  Checked shortly after the start was affected when shifting  around OUR GOOD FORTUNE

BARKWAY MARGARET– Checked at the 1300 metres when shifting wider to avoid COBBITYAMBITION

FROZEN JEWEL– Post-race sample collected.

BEERSRBETAONSUNDY– A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding had not raced for over 12 months.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Approaching the 1300 metres the off side hopple shortener strap became wrapped around the gelding’s hind leg and as a result broke stride.  Due to driver M Munro having safety concerns the gelding was retired from the event at the 1000 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Re-included back into the mobile barrier draw.

TASTE OF DIAMONDS NZ– Pre-race blood sample collected.

SHADY TREE– When racing three wide in the early stages was inconvenienced at the 1300 metres when shifting wider to avoid BEERSRBETAONSUNDY, the gelding continued to work forward until obtaining a position in the running line at the 1200 metres.
