SWEET ADDITION NZ– When questioned in relation to the performance trainer/driver Ms A Turnbull explained, that despite racing in a prominent position in the early and middle stages, the filly failed to travel at any stage and when placed under pressure approaching the 400 metres was unresponsive and ran to the finish in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Ms Turnbull said that SWEET ADDITION NZ would leave her stable.

REBOUNDER– Pre-race blood sample. Had to be checked for some distance approaching and passing the 400 metres when racing behind ROCKNROLL RAIDER when that runner weakened, then raced in restricted room rounding the home turn and when being shifted wider at the entrance to the home straight to obtain clear running forced MAGIC MATTEO to be hampered and shifted wider on the track. Subsequently trainer/driver J O’Shea was reprimanded under AR 163(1)(a)(iii) for shifting ground when insufficiently clear.
TAMANISHA TERROR– Hampered and had to be shifted out abruptly approaching the home turn to avoid ROCKNROLL RAIDER.
TULHURST TERROR– Passed required pre-race veterinary examination.
ROCKNROLL RAIDER– When questioned in relation to the performance driver A Turnbull explained, that despite leading with ease during the middle stages, ROCKNROLL RAIDER was unresponsive when placed under pressure approaching the 400 metres and weakened noticeably from that point despite her efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding displayed a slow recovery rate. Ms Turnbull said that ROCKNROLL RAIDER would be spelled.
OUR CHIQUITITA– Pre-race blood sample. Hung in at various stages during the race, then when being corrected at the entrance to the home straight on the final occasion, shifted out abruptly and impeded REBOUNDER momentarily. RACE 3 – BCIT SOLUTIONS PACE – 2260 metres
ARTFUL PRINCE– When questioned in relation to the performance trainer/driver W Judd explained, that whilst being prominent in the early stages the gelding resented the challenges issued to it rounding the turn passing the winning post on the first occasion and after eventually being crossed by ROAD TO RECOVERY,ARTFUL PRINCE over raced and was reluctant to settle. He said that this continued during the middle stages and when placed under pressure passing the 600 metres the gelding was unable to respond and weakened from that point. Mr Judd attributed this to the pressure sustained in the early stages and the spacing of ARTFUL PRINCE’S race starts, which resulted in it being unable to properly compete at the distance of tonight’s event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Mr Judd was advised that a warning for poor performance would be placed on the racing record of ARTFUL PRINCE.
TULHURST TIMMY– Trainer/driver Mr N Hurst was fined $100 under AR 163(1)(c)(i), for allowing the gelding to contact marker pegs rounding the home turn in the final occasion.

Mr Callaghan said that he understood that BAIL DENIED would be transferred out of the stable of Jason Grimson.
XCITE ME NZ– When questioned in relation to the performance driver C Fitzpatrick explained, that XCITE ME NZ pulled very hard in the early stages and he was unable to restrain it in a manner that prevented it contacting the sulky of SAPPHIRESNDIAMONDS approaching the 1700 metres. He said that this resulted in XCITE ME NZ breaking stride, galloping uncontrollably and when being restrained XCITE ME NZ again took charge, ran to the outside of the track and could not be driven in a manner that allowed it to be competitive.
