Trainer/driver Nathan Turnbull was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 8th position beaten 20.1m after racing outside the leader throughout. CARLO GAMBINO NZ– ($10.00) Trainer Chris Judd was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which finished in 10th and last position beaten 45.2m after racing three (3) back the marker pegs. Mr Judd advised the gelding to be disappointing and was at a loss to explain the performance other than CARLO GAMBINO NZ had not started since 18th May 2024. Driver Justin Reynolds was queried into the tactics adopted upon the mare in particular when leading clear and unchallenged from the 1200m he record the second & third quarters in 29.5 & 27.4 seconds. Mr Reynolds advised PAS DE CHEVAL was racing keenly after obtaining the lead however felt the mare was commencing to relax & racing well within itself when recording the second quarter in 29.5 seconds. Mr Reynolds advised after passing the 800m PAS DE CHEVAL hind leg came into contact with the sulky on two (2) occasions which caused PAS DE CHEVAL to commence racing fiercely despite his efforts to steady the mare at that stage of the event which was the main reason to the third quarter being recorded in 27.4 seconds. After viewing the available replays stewards noted the comments of Mr Reynolds and advised himself and the stable to make the necessary adjustments with the sulky to avoid any reoccurrence going forward.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for HALL MOST AN ANGEL (O Frisby) when improving along the marker line was tightened and directed into the sprint lane when ZACHARY SHANNON (T Bullock) shifted inwards approaching the 1200m. After taking evidence from both drivers and viewing the available replays it was established that HALL MOST AN ANGEL whilst racing three (3) back along the marker line & some distance off RAINBOW TITANwhich was following the leader MISTER BLUECHIP as HALL MOST AN ANGEL was improving at speed ZACHARY SHANNON was directed from a running line position to a marker line position when having sufficient room to do so simultaneously as the leader MISTER BLUECHIP (J Locke) had shifted up the track into a running line position giving all trailing runners a false line to follow combined with the racing manners of HALL MOST AN ANGEL being unable to restrained when improving quickly and therefore being shifted into the sprint lane prior to regaining a position along the marker line a short distance latter.  Stewards could not place blame on any one driver or horse for the incident and took the matter no further.

MISTER BLUECHIP – Pre-race swab.Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having not started in the preceding 12 months. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities. Post-race swab.

In taking this action stewards were mindful of FAKE MINT poor barrier manners.

RAINBOW TITAN – ($9.50) Driver Madi Young was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which finished in 8th position beaten 33.6m after trailing the leader throughout the event. Ms Young advised RAINBOW TITAN had its work load reduced following its most recent start & had missed a start at Dubbo Friday 31st May 2024 with meeting being abandoned which she felt was the main factor to the gelding’s performance.

RACE 6 – TOWN & COUNTRY RURAL SUPPLIES PACE – 2260 metres

TAPAGANOOSH – ($2.40 Fav) Driver Amanda Turnbull was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 7th position beaten 22.2m after leading. Ms Turnbull advised after being urged forward from the start to obtain the lead TAPAGANOOSH failed to settle and pulled hard throughout the event over the long distance which was the main factor to the gelding’s performance. Ms Turnbull added the stable would look to give TAPAGANOOSH a slight let up from racing & attempt to restrict the gelding to the shorter distances going forward if possible.

ROCK STEADY – Held up during the early stages of the home straight prior to obtaining clear running.

HAZZA IS WATCHING – ($2.15 Fav) Driver Amanda Turnbull was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 7th position beaten 13.3m after racing outside the leader throughout the event. Ms Turnbull advised HAZZA IS WATCHING pulled hard during the event combined racing over the longer distance which she felt were the main reasons to the gelding performance. Ms Turnbull advised in her opinion HAZZA IS WATCHING is better served racing over the shorter course distances which connections would attempt to restrict the gelding to going forward.

Mr Bullock advised he did give consideration to direct the gelding to the rear of the field after the start however when he attempted to restrain the gelding it commenced to race roughly and felt if he was to restrain the gelding to any more degree it would break gait so he elected to improve forward when do so SHAUN SHANNON had to endure more work than expected to obtain the position when HYDEEHO NZ (Amanda Turnbull) was pulling hard despite the efforts of its driver to obtained the cover from SHAUN SHANNON, which was the main factor to SHAUN SHANNON yielding ground from the 400m. After viewing the available replays & the comments of Mr Bullock which were confirmed steward felt the tactics adopted were not unreasonable in the circumstances.
