PRINCE PARKER– Was slow to begin.

OURSWEETPOG- Was slow to begin.  When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted, driver Mr D Hewitt explained that after being restrained at the start, to race at the rear of the field in the running line, OURSWEETPOG travelled relatively well, however passing the 500 metres, when he attempting to improve, he began to shift to the outside of PRINCE PARKER, however that runner shifted out momentarily and this caused him to steady and maintain his position behind PRINCE PARKER to avoid being forced excessively wide. He said that inside the 400 metres, he again attempted to go forward, however OURSWEETPOG hung in and was unresponsive at this point and it wasn’t until after entering the home straight when he was able to take the filly to the outside of the field that it began to race tractably, responded well and ran to the finish strongly. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SWITCHEM ALL IN– The driver Mr B Field was fined $50 under AR 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position at the start.

RACE 4 – KING OF SWING @ COBBITTY EQUINE PACE – 2260 metres

DARK TERROR– A pre race blood sample was taken. Broke stride free of any external factors inside the final 15 metres and at the winning post had commenced to gallop. Prior to the declaration of all clear evidence was taken from the driver Mr T Bullock and the trainer Mr B Settree and the incident was reviewed via all official video angles. It was determined that at the time, DARK TERROR was in the process of being restrained and did not gain any advantage and given the proximity of the incident to the finish all clear was declared.

MISTER HAYWOOD– Was fractious when the field was called to assemble and was reluctant to take part in the early stages of the score up. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record.

SMILINGMAC– When questioned in relation to the performance, driver Mr J Turnbull said that after beginning relatively well and racing in a prominent position approaching the turn after the start, SMILINGMAC did not travel well after being crossed by RACING TIME and was unable to maintain that runners back during the middle stages despite his efforts. He said that inside the 500 metres when placed under full pressure the gelding became unresponsive and weakened from that point. Connections were advised that a warning for poor performance would be placed on SMILINGMAC’S racing record.

RACING TIME- A post race urine sample was obtained.

RACE 7 – THE TAB APP MAIDEN PACE – 1730 metres

SABELLA SHANNON – Was held up racing in restricted room for some distance approaching the home turn on the final occasion and could not be driven forward.

BLAZIN CHIMES– When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted inside the 500 metres, trainer / driver Mr J O’Shea explained that after racing outside the leader SUSIEQSHANNON entering the back straight on the final occasion he noticed that that runner was not travelling strongly and that he was aware that HIGHVIEW HAMMER, which he felt was his most prominent opposition was racing in the position of three back on the marker pegs behind the leader, which in his opinion was tiring. He said that because of this he elected to go forward sharply at this time to establish a significant break on the field in the hope that HIGHVIEW HAMMER would be held up on the marker pegs behind weakening runners approaching the home turn. He said that BLAZIN CHIMES responded well and was confident that his tactics would be successful rounding the home turn however HIGHVIEW HAMMER which had gained clear running raced passed him with ease inside the 100 metres. His explanation was accepted.

BETTOR THAN MOST– Broke stride and galloped free of any external factors shortly after the start. Trainer / driver Mr S Hewitt was advised that the gelding would now be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.
