STEWARDS REPORT FOR BALLARAT MEETING

Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – ULTIMATE PAINTING CO. PACE (2200 MS)
BEST BACK BRUCE- post race swab samples taken.
JAMIESON- hung out in the back straight.
CARRAMAR OLAM- hung in under pressure in the home straight.
TOP GUN TED- driver Anthony Butt was not listed in the racebook.
RACE 2 – ACCRU FINANCE PACE (2200 MS)
SILVER DOMINO- tired to be beaten 68 metres- warning issued.
THE REGULATOR- tired to be beaten 89 metres- placed on his last chance to race competitively.
A VAPAR STORM- worked forward around the first turn to race outsider the leader before gaining cover from the 1300 metres. Driver Michael Bellman explained that the gelding tended to hang out from the 1200 metres and failed to finish off the quickly run race after working early. A warning was placed on the performance.
MIKI SHEFFIELD- hung in and paced roughly in the score up and failed to occupy his position at the start- placed on his last chance in the mobile barrier draw. Tired to be beaten 88 metres and was placed on his last chance to race competitively.
MON SOLEIL- pre race swab samples taken.
MIDNIGHT DANCER- tired to be beaten 53 metres and underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Driver Jason Lee reported that the mare had travelled well in the run however failed to finish off the race satisfactorily. Trainer B Tindale reported that connections were disappointed in the run and would look for shorter distance races going forward. Stewards will follow up with connections in the days following the race.
SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT 4/11/24. Trainer AJ Tindale reported that the mare had recovered well from teh run and hjas worked satisfactorily this morning and was nominated to race again at Ballarat on Thursday 7/11 in a shorter distance race.
AMERICAN VICTORY- out of position at the start and was placed on his last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 3 SQUIRES LOFT 4YO & OLDER MAIDEN PACE (1710 MS)
ORCH- hung out entering the home straight- warning issued.
QUICK DECISION- driver Brent Murphy was cautioned for his use of the whip outside the confines of the sulky in the back straight. Removable deafeners failed to activate.
LORINO- hung out just after the start. Driver Luke Dunne reported that the nearside pull down dolly vardun blinker had come down at that point without being activated, Tired to be beaten 62 metres with driver Luke Dunne reporting that connections had elected to drive the mare positively tonight after recent placings however the mare had failed to finish off and in his opinion is better when driven conservatively. Given the beaten margin a warning was issued.
PICTURE US ROLLIN- post race swab samples taken.
MIKIS JOE- driver James Herbertson was not listed in the racebook. Held up around the home turn then obtained an inside run as ORCH hung out.
RACE 4 – HARAS DES TROTTEURS 3YO &OLDER MAIDEN TROT (2200 MS)
FONDA RHONDA- broke in the score up, out of position at the start and was placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Held up and unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.
MYSTERIOUS PRINCE- driver Anthony Butt was not listed in the racebook.
REGINALDS REIGN- trotted roughly near the 700 metres, then hung in and trotted roughly near the 400 metres.
RASENGEN- pulled hard and hung out at various stages of the race.
ALDEBARANSPARTACUS- held up around the home turn and early in the home straight.
COLUMBIAS GONZALES- hung in during the score up and out of position at the start- placed on his last chance in the mobile barrier draw. Broke free of interference near the 600 metres, placed on his last chance to race truly.
NEY DEAN- broke free of interference near the 1500 metres- warning issued.
MISTER HIGH HOPES- worked forward to race outside the leader then pulled hard before breaking near the 1300 metres then trailed the field.
MAJESTIC PARTY BOY- out of position at the start then broke as the as the start was effected – will continue out of the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 5 BLACK HILL HOTEL PACE(2200MS)
TREACHEROUS REIGN- trainer Gary Lawlor was cautioned for failing to notify the intended tactics of his multiple runners. Gave ground to be beaten 46 metres and underwent a post race veterinary examination which indicated no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer Gary Lawlor in the days following the race.
SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT 4/11/24. Trainer Gary Lawlor reported that on the day after the race TREACHEROUS REIGN was found to be in season, which he believed had contributed significantly to the beaten margin.
KEAYANG WASABI worked forward to the lead near the 1700 metres, then surrendered the lead to SWEET DEAL with a lap to travel. Held up until nearing the 150 metres. Stewards queried driver Lochie Cook who explained that the gelding was racing first up since December 2023 and had trialled once, finishing fourth in his trial in the lead up to todays race and as such after working early he felt it was in the geldings best interests to hand up the lead to a favoured runner at this stage of his preparation.
SWEET IDEAL- raced keenly and contacted her offside sulky wheel into the first turn, then shifted out as a consequence. Worked forward to the lead with a lap to travel then hung in near the 200 metres.
RACE 6 – BALLARAT TOYOTA PACE (1710 MS)
BOND GIRL- hung in during the score up and out of position at the start- placed on her last chance in the mobile barrier draw. Tired to be beaten 88 metres and underwent a post race veterinary examination which indicated no apparent abnormalities. Given the beaten margin the mare was placed on her last chance to race competitively. Driver Darby McGuigan reported that the mare had hung in throughout.
ETIZ AMODEL- Chris Alford did not appear in the racebook.
THE DEMOCRAT- underwent pre and post race veterinary examinations due to his number of lifetime starts- no abnormalities apparent. Driver Ashley Ainsworth was cautioned for jostling in the home straight.
FLAMING LUCKY- held up around the home turn and early in the ehome straight. Driver Jason Ainsworth was cautioned for jostling in the home straight.
DI ANGELO- held up around the home turn and raced ungenerously near the 300 metres when restrained.
RIVER PATROL NZ- underwent pre and post race veterinary examinations due to his age and number of lifetime starts- no abnormalities apparent.
RACE 7 – ACCRU FINANCE 2YO 0-2 LTW PACE (1710 MS)
STARTIN TO GOGH- hung out after the start- warning issued.
HUXHAM CHUBB- held up around the home turn and early in the home straight.
BEST EVER BLING- hung in severely in the score up and was significantly out of position at the start- placed out of the mobile barrier draw. Momentarily inconvenienced near the 1100 metres.
WILLECO- hung in at various stages.
DOUGS TRIBE- post race swab samples taken. Driver James Herbertson was fined $200 pursuant to AHRR 156(2)(a) for using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.
SOHO EMPIRE STATE- pulled hard then shifted out near the 1150 metres to the position vacated as STARTIN TO GOGH improved forwards three wide.
RACE 8 –BALLARATTROTTINGCLUB.COM.AU TROT (2200 MS)
The amended start time for this race was 10.21 p.m.
Darby McGuigan was approved as a late driver replacement on RILEYS PEGASUS due to listed driver Ryan Duffy being indisposed. Mr Duffy requires a medical clearance before again driving.
TOUGHER- worked forward to the lead then broke near the 1900 metres and shifted up the track.
BAARLINEE broke near the 950 metres- Inquiry adjourned.
RILEYS PEGASUS- On 31/10/24 Stewards conducted an Inquiry into the reasons for BAARLINEE breaking near the 950 metres. After hearing evidence from drivers Ashley Ainsworth(BAARLINEE) and Darby McGuigan(RILEYS PEGASUS Mr Mcguigan pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AHRR 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, the particulars being that after winning post with a lap to travel Mr McGuigan permitted his drive to shift down to the pegline when not fully clear of the extended fron legs of BAARLINEE, causing that runner to be checked and break gait. In determining penalty Stewaards took into consideration Mr McGuigans immediate admission of the offence and guilty plea, his good driving record with 900 drives since previously being suspended in 2021, HRV Minimum penalty guidelines and the level of carelessness and extent of the interference which were deemed to be of a lower level. A seven day suspension was imposed, to begin from midnight 31/10, at which time Mr McGuigan was stood down for his failure to attend the Stewards room. Mr McGuigan also pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AHRR 238 for failing to comply with a requirement of the Stewards in leaving the course without attending the Stewards room , a fine of $200 was imposed.
KEAYANG SADIE- driver Jason Lee was fined $100 pursuant to AHRR 162(1)(h) for failing to have the mare in position at the start.
MIELICKI- inconvenienced near the 900 metres and raced three wide.
KOUFAX- broke in the score up, was out of position at the start and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw. Inconvenienced near the 800 metres.
CHAMPAGNE CHARLEY- broke in the score up, was out of position at the start and will continue out of the mobile barrier draw. Inconvenienced near the 800 metres. Held up around the home turn.
