Trainers with multiple horses engaged in any given race were questioned as to the intended driving tactics to be adopted.
RACE 1 – BACCHUS MARSH HRC COMMITTEE TROT CUP (1ST HEAT) (2100 MS)
The start time of this event was amended to 6.30pm at the request of SKY Channel, due to the Narrogin thoroughbreds being postponed.
MR TEDDY – inconvenienced approx. 1400m when BUS STOP (Ryan Sanderson) and WICHITA KANSAS (Leilani Justice) locked wheels.
YANKEE GAMBLER – pulled hard outside the leader.
BUS STOP – trainer Alex Ashwood cautioned for presenting the gelding in gear that was not accurately recorded. Hung out at approx. 1400m and locked wheels with WICHITA KANSAS (Leilani Justice). Warning issued. No clear run from approx. 300m to finish.
WICHITA KANSAS – inconvenienced by BUS STOP (Ryan Sanderson) at approx. 1400m and locked wheels with that runner.
PICTURE US ROLLIN – the training partnership Tindale were cautioned for presenting the entire in gear that was not accurately recorded.
LIKEABLE ROGUE – driver Alex Ashwood fined the sum of $100 under AHRR162(1)(h) for not failing to have the gelding in position on the gate when the start was effected. Hung out at various stages of the event.
SOMEJOYFUL NZ - inconvenienced approx. 1400m when BUS STOP (Ryan Sanderson) and WICHITA KANSAS (Leilani Justice) locked wheels.
JILLIBY TYPHOON - inconvenienced approx. 1400m when BUS STOP (Ryan Sanderson) and WICHITA KANSAS (Leilani Justice) locked wheels.
FLYING SPARKS – trainer Denis Grieve cautioned for presenting the gelding in gear that was not accurately recorded.
RACE 2 – LATHER UP STANDING @ WOODLANDS STUD PACE (2ND HEAT) (2100 MS)
HUNGRY HOGARTH – galloped twice in running; stood down pending the completion of one (1) satisfactory trial. Trailed the field thereafter.
SILVER MYSTIQUE – inconvenienced rounding the first turn when HUNGRY HOGARTH galloped. Jostled with WOTDIDUSAAAY (Blake Pace) at approx. 350m. Held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.
DENNY NZ - Held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.
BAKER CREEK NZ – inconvenienced rounding the first turn when HUNGRY HOGARTH galloped. Tired to be beaten 70.1m into ninth placing; warning issued.
WOTDIDUSAAAY – jostled with SILVER MYSTIQUE (Jason Lee) at approx. 250m.
RACE 3 – HOYTS FOODS PACE (1609 MS)
DANCINGONSTARLIGHT – held up and no clear run rounding home turn final occasion.
MIDNIGHT DANCER – the training combination Tindale were queried regarding what appeared to be an improved performance form the mare when referenced against the recent effort at this same track on 31 October 2024. Mr Beau Tindale explained that MIDNIGHT DANCER is a gross mare who has taken improvement from an increased workload in recent times. Mr Tindale expects the mare to further improve with the increased workload and race schedule. Mr Tindale’s comments were noted.
MEGAWATTS – held up and no clear run from approx. 300m to finish.
RACE 4 – HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY JB PACE (1609 MS)
IMAGOLDCLOUD –Driver Lochie Cook was queried regarding what appeared to be a poor performance from the gelding who led and tired sharply from approx. 600m to be beaten 93.8m into tenth and last placing. Mr Cook explained that whilst the overall time of this event was quicker than recent efforts he was somewhat disappointed in the overall effort. Mr Cook suggested that once the gelding was passed by rival runners from approx. 600m, his application thereafter may have been lacking and may go some way to explaining the beaten margin. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities and as such the gelding will now be placed on his last chance to race competitively. Stewards intend to follow-up with connections in the coming days as to the gelding’s recovery.
ETIZ AMODEL – inconvenienced by IMAGOLDCLOUD as that runner gave ground from approx. 600m.
SEA HAWKE - inconvenienced and held up for clear running behind IMAGOLDCLOUD as that runner gave ground from approx. 600m.
RACE 5 – EVOLUTION LODGE TROT (1609 MS)
The start of this event was delayed for several minutes when REIGN EM IN required a sulky-change prior to the allocated start time, due to a flat sulky tyre.
ORCH - driver Peter Wallis was queried regarding his driving tactics through the early and middle stages. Mr Wallis explained that after the initial false start, ORCH raced keenly and should he have been able to restrain the gelding it was his intention to allow REIGN EM IN (Derrick Krafft) to progress to the lead. Mr Wallis’ explanation was noted.
ERNIELOVENBOY – locked wheels with KATUNGA EXPRESS rounding the final turn.
REIGN EM IN – slow to score-up, causing interference to runners on the second row; last chance in mobile barrier draw.
MY DARLING DANCER – driver Ashley Ainsworth was cautioned for a lack of control rounding the final turn, activating removable gear rounding the final turn simultaneous to the mare hanging inwards which resulted in ORCH (Peter Wallis) being crowded for racing room when yielding ground with the latter then racing roughly for several strides.
KATUNGA EXPRESS – locked wheels with ERNIELOVENBOY rounding the final turn.
ASHANTE PRINCE – galloped in the initial score-up; continued exclusion from future mobile barrier draws. Checked and galloped by KATUNGA EXPRESS and ERNIELOVENBOY rounding the final turn when the two aforementioned runners locked wheels.
RACE 6 – OCIRA CONCRETE STRUCTURES TROT (1609 MS)
FLOATING MOUNTAIN – pulled hard in running.
SCAR – galloped approx. 400m; warning issued owing to recent record.
ROMANTIC NINA – pulled hard score-up. Held up and no clear run from approx. 350m to finish.
MY HIGH PEAK – dropped a bell boot shortly after the start. Galloped rounding the final turn; warning issued owing to recent record.
RACE 7 – APCO WE GOT YOU 2YO MAIDEN PACE (1609 MS)
BUSLOAD OF FAITH NZ – trainer Luke Tabone cautioned for presenting the gelding in gear that was not accurately recorded. Pulled hard in the score-up and then pulled hard in running.
AXE AND DEEZ – driver Jordan Leedham was cautioned for allowing his body to protrude outside the rear of the sulky over the final lap.
PLAINS IN HEAVEN – driver Nathan Cahir was cautioned for directing his drive away from the position behind the allocated runner on the first row prior to the start being effected (starting position).
RACE 8 – CORIO PIZZA MARES PACE (1609 MS)
The start time of this event was amended to 10.18pm at the request of SKY Channel.
THE DEMOCRAT - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more race starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.
SHADY DANCER - pre and post-race veterinary examinations in accordance with the HRV Animal Welfare policy having attained 200 or more race starts. No obvious abnormalities detected either examination.
MY BUCKS NIGHT – pulled hard in the score-up.
