Trainers with multiple runners in any one race were questioned in relation to their intended tactics.

RACE 1 – SOS OFFICE PRODUCTS 3YO WESTBRED PACE (1832MS)

Shortly after the start was effected the Starter communicated to Stewards that the mobile failed to accelerate as the start was effected resulting in multiple runners on the front row making contact with the barrier arm inconveniencing a number of runners on the second row and due to him being unable to declare a false start,  the abandoned race siren and lights were activated when runners were making the turn out of the front straight on the first occasion with all drivers restraining shortly after.  Following this all runners were examined by the on-course veterinarian and passed fit to start.

IDONTWANABEAPIRATE (C Peterson) – Held up making the turn into the front straight on the final occasion and inconvenienced shortly after entering the front straight on the final occasion.

DAISY JONES (C Wallrodt) – Gave ground from the 400m and hung inwards under pressure making the turn and entering the front straight on the final occasion racing inside a number of marker pegs and raced roughly over the concluding stages.   Driver C Wallrodt explained that although the filly had raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the front straight on the final occasion, it was hanging inwards under pressure and placed him at some disadvantage.   Taking into consideration the race was abandoned at the first attempt, the filly was issued with a warning in relation to its racing manner.

General: Driver L Elliott (NINETY MILE BEACH) was fined $200 under HR156(2)(a) for using his whip in more than a flicking motion.

RACE 2 – HARRY CAPARARO MEMORIAL SPRINT PRELUDE 1 PACE (1832MS)

General: In relation to crossing in advance of ALTACHAERA (A Cortopassi) to obtain a position in the one wide line with cover leaving the front straight on the first occasion,  Driver W Andrews (AMELIA ROCKS) was reminded of his obligations to ensure he is fully clear prior to shifting ground in similar circumstances in future

RACE 3 – HARRY CAPARARO MEMORIAL SPRINT PRELUDE 2 PACE (1832MS)

RACE 4 – COMMUNITY TAB PACE (2265MS)

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 5 – ALBANY PONY TROTS PACE (2265MS)

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 6 – ALKOOMI WINES 4YO+ PACE (2265MS)

General:  Driver K Madden (MACHLANI) accompanied by RWWA Driving Coach, Mr A Cortopassi appeared before Stewards in relation to MACHLANI breaking gait entering the back straight on the final occasion.   It was established when initially in a position trailing KOLISI (L Wallrodt) on the peg line, KOLISI shifted up the track shifting GYPSY DRAGON (A Markham) wider.   Shortly after MACHLANI then shifted to the outside of GYPSY DRAGON to improve its position as KOLISI continued to shift up the track with MACHLANI becoming momentarily unbalanced and driver K Madden electing to correct the gelding further with it breaking gait.   Stewards were of the opinion Driver L Wallrodt had an advantage over GYPSY DRAGON when attempting to shift that runner wider and that Driver Markham had moved with the shift of KOLISI and further that MACHLANI had commenced to establish a position to the outside of GYPSY DRAGON after KOLISI had commenced to ease out.   Further Stewards were of the opinion that no driver had driven in a careless manner and took no further action against any further driver or MACHANI for breaking gait in the circumstances.   Driver K Madden will receive additional tutoring from the RWWA Driving Coach in relation to this incident.  

RACE 7 – ALBANY RETRAVISION PACE (1832MS)

No racing incidents to report.

RACE 8 – ALKOOMI WINES 4YO+ WESTBRED PACE (2265MS)

TOP SHELF JAMIESON (C Wallrodt) – Gave ground from the 600m. A warning was placed on the mare in relation to its performance.
