Stewards Report

Gawler Friday 4th October 2024

Trainers with multiple runners in any one race provided Stewards with their intentions prior to the event.

RACE 1 – LOWE FARMS FARMGATE FODDER MARES PACE  - 1609MS

The bloomers used on hopples of KEILAH (B Page) became detached in running. Gear inspected and found to be of good quality.

RACE 2 – CLUSE BROS TYREPOWER PACE – 1609MS

DALLAS PATRICK (R Hryhorec) and BITOFDUTCHCOURAGE (E Brechin) which both galloped immediately after the start will be excluded from draw in future mobile start races.

A warning placed on Dallas Patrick which galloped near 1400 Metres.

A post-race veterinary examination of BITOFDUTCHCOURAGE revealed the gelding to be lame in off foreleg and received treatment from the Veterinary Officer. Trainer advised a veterinary clearance required before being eligible to race.

RACE 3 – SA BOTRA TROTTERS MOBILE – 2070MS

Stewards questioned Samantha Pascoe (ALLEYES) and Kevin Weidenbach (STAR OF PATRICK) as to the reason their sulkies momentarily locked up leaving back straight first occasion. It was established that initially Weidenbach had shifted inwards slightly and then elected to move up the track as ALLEYES commenced to make ground quickly to his outside. Stewards issued a fine of $100 against Kevin Weidenbach under R168(1)(a) for driving in a careless manner. ALLEYES was retired from the race as it sustained a flat sulky tyre in the incident.

The reinsperson licence of David Smith (SULTAN SASS) was suspended for seven days after pleading guilty to a charge under R163(1)(a)(iii). The charge being that he had contributed to inference when shifting ground inwards leaving front straight after the start and contacting off front leg of SIR EROS (D Hill) which galloped as a result. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his plea of guilty and previous excellent driving record.

RACE 4 – PODIATRY CARE GAWLER TROTTERS HANDICAP – 2070SS

A false start was called when PIESRIDINGSHOTGUN (K Weidenbach) delayed the start. Stewards issued a fine of $50 against Weidenbach under R162 (1) (d) for disobeying the direction of the starter.

Stewards reprimanded Nicholas Brown (DALTON) under R168(1)(a) for driving into a position where there was restricted room leaving front straight after the start. Brown had been crossed by QUICK QUAKER (Mark Norman) prior to the winning post, however continued to try and retake the position until his drive broke gait. It was noted THE CLIPPER (J Kittel) and PIESRIDINGSHOTGUN (K Weidenbach) were checked in the incident.

Reinsperson Mark Norman (QUICK QUAKER) fined $50 under R162(1)(www) for allowing his drive to shift up the track in  the run to the finish which gave a run to THE CLIPPER (J Kittel).

A post-race veterinary examination of PATRICKS CHARM (S Pascoe) revealed it had bled from the off nostril. Trainer advised filly stood down 14 days under R101B(2) and must complete a satisfactory trial.

RACE 5 – 1800-GOT-JUNK? PACE – 1609MS

A warning placed on CLARENDEN VINTAGE (D Smith) which hung inwards near 300 metres contacted the offside sulky wheel of BEAUTY ABOVE (K Weidenbach)

RACE 6 – TWO WELLS BAKERY TROTTERS HANDICAP – 2070SS

All clear was delayed to allow Ryan Hryhorec (ILLAWONG MARTINI) to view the start. After viewing available vision all clear given.

A warning was placed on ILLAWONG MARTINI which galloped shortly after the start and checked VINAIGRETTE (K Wilson).

MAGIC TRIX (S Pascoe) galloped leaving front straight first occasion checking TROTTENEM OKAY (N Brown) and again galloped in running and was placed on last chance to race truly.

TROTTENEM OKAY galloped in the back straight first occasion and was placed on last chance to race truly.

RACE 7 – 2024 LADBROKES DERBY – 2070MS

TEMBIE (D Afford) was placed in restricted room home turn final occasion when the tiring FLY THE BANNER (S Pascoe) shifted outwards and TONKAWAIKON (M Smith) was tight to his outside. TEMBIE was inclined to lay in thereafter.

RACE 8 – LYNDOCH MOTORS PACE – 2070MS

Reins person Ryan Hryhorec (LOCHINVAR CAMARO) was fined $100 under R162(1)(y). for whilst leading through first half last mile setting a time of 66:7 seconds with prescribed time 64 seconds.

RACE 9 – 2024 DF & E KEMP & SON 2YO SAPLING STAKES  – 1609MS

DEE JAYS MISS (A Chapman) hung outwards after the start and caused interference to OAKHAY (D Girardi) and will be excluded from the draw in future mobile start races.

The reinspersons licence of Darren Billinger (SHIRLEY NOT) was suspended for seven days after pleading guilty of contributing to interference when attempting to cross MACHETE ROULETTE (D Afford) approaching winning post in bell lap.

RACE 10 – ANGLE VALE HARDWARE FODDER & LANDSCAPING PACE – 1609MS

IMA WORKINGCLASSMAN (D Smith) which galloped shortly after the start will be excluded from the draw in future mobile barrier start races.
