Stable inspections were carried out during the week at the premises of trainers with horses engaged in tonight's race meeting.
Race 1 - 2024 LADBROKES QUEENSLAND DERBY CONSOLATION 2680M
Shards Matrix NZ (Grant Dixon) hung in after the start, and raced roughly and galloped free of interference approaching the 2400 metres. The gelding continued to hang in at various stages of the race. Connections were advised the gelding would be placed on its last chance to race truly and that they are to take the necessary corrective measures.
Kick The Switch Brendan Barnes) galloped free of interference at the 2400 metres and lost valuable ground. After considering a good record in this regard connections were advised the gelding would be placed on its last chance to race truly.
Novanta Rising (Bernie Hewitt) inconvenienced at the 700 metres when Brodski Zulu which was racing to its outside hung in and locked sulky wheels.
Checknoutthetalent (Pete McMullen) hung in on the final turn and contacted a marker peg.
Bronski Zulu (Luke McCarthy)hung in at the 700 metres and locked sulky wheels momentarily with Novanta Rising which was racing to its inside.
Air Express (Trista Dixon) checked at the 700 metres when trailing Bronski Zulu which hung in and locked wheels resulting in the gelding racing four wide from that point. Back in the mobile draw after two successful consecutive starts.
General
Nathan Dawson (Royal Cruiser) was fined $200 under AHR rule 156 (2) (a) for engaging the elbow and shoulder when applying the whip in the concluding stages.
Ricky Alchin (Force Full) was reprimanded under AHR rule 168 (1) (a) for shifting out carelessly at the 300 metres which caused minor inconvenience to Bronski Zulu.
Race 2 – 2024 LADBROKES THE BLACKS A FAKE QUEENSLAND CHAMPIONSHIP CONSOLATION 2680M
Van Basten (Ricky Alchin) momentarily impeded at the 1000 metres when Classie Washington NZ shifted out. Severely checked on the final turn when locking sulky wheels with Send It.
Send It (Shane Graham) hung in and locked sulky wheels with Van Basten on entrance to the home straight causing the gelding to be severely checked and was ultimately retired from the race.
Loyalist NZ (Cameron Hart) failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
General
The all clear on this race was delayed to allow Cameron Hart (Loyalist NZ) the opportunity to view the Stewards patrol footage of the final turn. After perusal of the film Mr hart elected to take no further action and the all clear was given on the judge's placings.
Seaton Grima (Don Lou) was fined $100 under AHR rule 273(6)(b) for presenting Don Lou to race in gear not notified.
Angus Garrard (Classie Washington NZ) was reprimanded under AHR rule 162 (1) (www) for shifting wider approaching the 900 metres which impeded the forward progression of Van Basten causing that gelding to shift four wide momentarily before being shifted back down to take a trail.
Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred on entrance to the home straight in which Send It and Van Basten locked sulky wheels causing both runners to lose considerable ground. After reviewing the matter it was established Send It was inclined to hang in on the final turn and Don Hugo which was racing to the inside of Van Basten shifted out marginally which contributed to both horses on the outside locking wheels. Stewards deemed this a racing incident and no further action was taken.
Race 3 - 2024 IH CAPITAL 4YO CHAMPIONSHIP (G3) 2138M
Aardies Flash NZ (Chantelle Turpin) contacted a marker peg on entrance to the sprint lane.
Duke Of Scotland NZ (Nathan Dawson) broke free of interference leaving the 1800 metres and lost considerable ground. After considering a good record in this regard, connections were advised the gelding would be placed on its last chance to race truly.
Frankie Ferocious (Cameron Hart) failed to run on as anticipated and finished in 10th position beaten 25 metres. Stewards directed a veterinary examination be carried out which revealed no significant findings other than connections reporting there was some respiratory noise during the race. Trainer Jason Grimson advised he would be presenting the gelding for further veterinary examination which would include a endoscopic examination post exercise. Stewards advised connections to make contact with them should any abnormalities be detected which would be reported accordingly.
Rocknroll Hammer NZ (Luke McCarthy) hung in during the score up and was slightly out of position when the start was effected and a warning was issued. Galloped free of interference approaching the 1700 metres. After considering the horse's previous record in this regard, connections were advised Rocknroll Hammer NZ will be placed on its last chance to race truly.
Captains Knock (Brad Hewitt) inconvenienced approaching the 1700 metres when Rocknroll Hammer NZ broke gait.
General
Narissa McMullen (Always Smokin NZ) was fined $300 under AHR rule 156 (2) (a) for engaging the elbow and shoulder when applying the whip in the concluding stages.
Chantal Turpin (Aardies Flash NZ) was fined $100 under AHR rule 163 (1)(c)(ii) for carelessly contacting a marker peg on entrance to the sprint lane.
Race 4 - 2024 LADBROKES QUEENSLAND OAKS (G1) 2138M
Ever Art (Will Rixon) the near side lugging pole became detached from the bridle during the race which may have placed the filly at some disadvantage.
General
David Miles (Look Like Diamonds) was fined $600 under AHR rule 156 (2) (a) for engaging the elbow and shoulder when applying the whip in the concluding stages. In assessing the matter of penalty Stewards took into account a recent breach under this rule by Mr Miles.
Race 5 – 2024 LADBROKES QUEENSLAND DERBY (G1) 2680M
Iron Clad (Grant Dixon) failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
Dele Row (Chantal Turpin) shifted out marginally at the 600 metres when the driver pulled the deafeners and as a result sustained an off side flat tyre from the trailing The Janitor NZ which may have placed the gelding at some disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
Kingman NZ (Luke McCarthy) galloped free of interference approaching the 1700 metres and lost considerable ground. After considering the colt’s good record in this regard, connections were advised Kingman would be placed on its last chance to race truly.
The Janitor NZ (Pete McMullen) shifted out three wide approaching the 1700 metres to avoid interference from the galloping Kingman NZ. Caught three wide thereafter and was restrained to the rear of the field with one lap remaining. Failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
Attachment (Narissa McMullen)was severely checked at the 1700 metres when Kingman NZ galloped.
General
Mark Pitt (Bay Of Biscay) was fined $400 under AHR rule 156 (2) (a) for engaging the elbow and shoulder when applying the whip in the concluding stages.
Race 6 - LADBROKES PROTOSTAR - 2YO SLOT RACE (LISTED CLASSIC) 1660M
No racing incidents.

Greg Sugars (Cigano) was fined $400 under AHR rule 156 (2) (a) for engaging the elbow and shoulder when applying the whip in the concluding stages.
Race 7 – 2024 LADBROKES THE BLACKS A FAKE QUEENSLAND CHAMPIONSHIP (GRAND CIRCUIT) (G1) 2680M
Turn It Up (Shane Graham) inconvenienced in the run to the finish when Simply Sam NZ shifted out under pressure.
Jimartee (Ricky Thurlow) inconvenienced in the run to the finish when Simply Sam NZ shifted out under pressure.
Blacksadance inconvenienced in the run to the finish when Simply Sam NZ shifted out under pressure.
Simply Sam NZ (Robert Morris) shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish and a warning was issued.
Nerano NZ (Leonard Cain) momentarily tightened for racing room at the 2400 metres.
District Attorney (Jack Callaghan)tightened for racing room at the 500 metres when Turn It Up shifted out slightly at the same time as Simply Sam NZ shifted in.
Hi Manameisjeff NZ (Will Rixon) which led the race after working forward from the start tired badly in the concluding stages to finish in last position beaten in excess of 100 metres. A a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off side foreleg. Stewards adopted the vet’s recommendation that Hi Manameisjeff NZ not be permitted to race until a veterinary clearance is provided.
General
The all clear on this race was delayed to allow driver Ricky Thurlow the opportunity to view the official footage of the run to the finish. After perusal of the film Mr Thurlow elected to take no further action and the all clear was given on the judges numbers.
Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred approaching the first turn after the start in which Nerano NZ was placed in restricted room between Leap To Fame and Hi Manameisjeff NZ. After taking evidence from drivers Grant Dixon and Leonard Cain it was established that Leap To Fame improved wider on the track shortly after the start when Nerano NZ which was racing to the outside of that horse and was placed in tight racing to the inside of Hi Manameisjeff. Grant Dixon subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving under AHR rule 168 (1) (a) for causing a tightening to Nerano NZ and a fine of $500 was imposed.
Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred in the run to the finish in which Turn It Up shifted out carrying Blacksadance into the path of Jimartee resulting in both runners being inconvenienced. After review it was established Turn It Up had commenced to make a run to the outside of Simply Sam and had to shift wider when that horse shifted out under pressure in advance of it. A warning was placed on the racing behaviour of Simply Sam NZ and connections were advised to take corrective measures.
Trainer Jason Grimson was fined $100 under AHR rule 273 (6) (b) for presenting Hector NZ to race in gear not notified.
Race 8 - 2024 PRYDE'S EASIFEED QUEENSLAND TROTTERS CUP (G1) 2138M
Van Sank (Adam Sanderson) checked on the final turn when Gus NZ galloped and tightened for racing room contacting marker pegs.
Top Of The Moment NZ (Chantal Turpin) broke gait free of interference at the 300 metres and in view of a good record a warning only was issued.
Gus NZ (Pete McMullen) broke gait free of interference at the 300 metres and lost considerable ground. After considering a good record in this regard a warning only was issued. Stewards granted the connections request that Gus NZ be placed out of the draw in future mobile racing
Constantinople (Luke McCarthy) broke gait free of interference at the 1800 metres and lost considerable ground. After considering previous offences in this regard, connections were advised the gelding would be stood down from racing until the completion of two satisfactory consecutive trials.
Funny Face NZ (Narissa McMullen) broke gait free of interference at the 300 metres. In view of a good record a warning only was issued.
Defensive Guy (Angus Garrard) checked on the final turn and contacted marker pegs when Gus NZ galloped.
Race 9 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND MARES OPEN PACE 1660M
Its Ebonynivory (Ricky Thurlow) raced wide in the early stages and was restrained to the rear of the field.
Not To Be Denied (Luke McCarthy) failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
General
Seaton Grima was suspended for 14 days under AHR rule 156 (2) (a) for engaging the elbow and shoulder when applying the whip and rein in the concluding stages.

Cosmic Flyer (Narissa McMullen) was inclined to race keenly.
Reset The Bar NZ (Brad Hewitt) jibbed in the early stages of the score up but was in position when the start was effected. A warning was issued.
Beachride (Luke McCarthy) pulled hard throughout the race.
