Race 1 – LADBROKES OWN SPRING CUP UP TO 70NR FINAL            1660M

TEDDY TURPIN– raced roughly after the start and a warning was issued.

AMAMI– raced wide in the early stages before working forward and gaining the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.

BETTOR KEPPEL– held up in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

General

Breandan Barnes (Amami) was questioned regarding his left foot appearing to slide down from the foot rest in the concluding stages of the race. Mr Barnes advised his foot slipped in the early stages of the home straight and he then returned his foot immediately to the foot rest. Mr Barnes was given the benefit of the doubt and was cautioned accordingly. He was advised to attach his sulky in a way that keeps his feet in position on the foot rest at all times.

Race 2 – SELECTIVE MOTORS ALBION BAND 5 PACE           2138M

SAINT VERAN – held up in the early stages of the home straight.

SAINT CRUSADER- held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

COPPERFIELD NZ– failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.

General

The start of this race was delayed 4 ½ minutes due to a sulky change on Kickatinalongpony. The start was further delayed when the replacement sulky required air in the sulky tyres. As a result, this race was rescheduled to SKY2.

Race 3 – A ROCKNROLL DANCE AT SOMERSET FARMS UP TO NR70 CONSOLATION 1660M

KASH US BACK – caught wide in the early stages of the race before being restrained to a rearward trailing position.

PROMISING– failed to run on in the concluding stages as expected and finished in 8th position beaten in excess of 26 metres. Driver Brendan Barnes stated the gelding possess limited potential and has to have the race run to suit. He said the quick tempo and outside second row draw were contributing factors in the gelding not performing well.

Race 4 – RACING & SPORTS.COM QUALIFYING PACE          1660M

ROCKNPENNY– hung in after the start and contacted a number of pegs. A warning was issued.

ESCOBAR – held up in the concluding stages.

JACCKA WALLY NZ – failed to gain clear running in the latter stages of the race.

Race 5 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND MARES OPEN PACE            2138M

MERGE RIGHT – shifted in after the start and contacted a marker peg.

JUNGLE BABY – raced roughly at the 500 metres when Myra Dawn moved wider from a position to the inside. Raced roughly again at the 300 metres when Myra Dawn shifted to a four wide position when racing to the inside. Back in the mobile draw after two successful consecutive starts.

IDEAL IN DREAMS– held up for clear running in the concluding stages.

General

Mitch Turnbull pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving under AHR rule 168(1)(a) for the manner in which he moved Myra Dawn wider on the track from the 500 metres which caused inconvenience to Jungle Baby which was racing to its outside. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Mitch Turnbull’s’ good driving record under this rule and his guilty plea.

Doug Hewitt was cautioned for the manner in which he engaged with Mitch Turnbull at the completion of the race.

Race 6 – WOLF SIGNS DIVIDED OPEN PACE  1660M

No racing incidents.

Race 7 – PACE WITH MATES BAND 4 PACE   2138M

ROYAL SPEECH– broke gait free of interference at the 1900 metres and again when racing at the rear of the field leaving the 1200 metres. Stewards directed the Veterinary Officer conduct an inspection of the gelding which revealed mild soreness in the nearside foreleg which required no stand down period. Royal Speech will be barred from racing pending the completion of one satisfactory trial.

OLD LUKE– pulled hard during the score up. Checked on the first turn after the start when Royal Speech galloped.

LAST TIME JOE– checked on the first turn when Royal Speech galloped.

Race 8 – CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES QUALIFYING PACE   1660M

PERFECT DANCE– caught racing three wide in the early stages and was restrained to a rearward trailing position.

Race 9 – PRYDE’S EASIFEED EASIOIL TROTTERS MOBILE PACE            1660M

CALL ME TROUBLE NZ – broke after the start was affected and will be excluded from the draw in future mobile starts.

FUNNY FACE– inconvenienced at the start when Call Me Trouble NZ galloped in advance. Inclined to hang in at various stages.

   

Race 10 – ULTIMATE TOOLS 2YO PACE         1660M

OUR AUNTY BELLA – raced greenly after the start.

UDDERLY SWEET– raced roughly after the start.
