Stewards approved Bryse McElhinney as a replacement driver for Doug Hewitt on Mach Assassin (Race 2) and Montgomery Burns (Race 11) for reasons acceptable to the stewards.
Race 1 - RACING & SPORTS.COM BAND 4 PACE (SKY 1) 2138M
SCOTCH EN ICE – Having not started in a race since May 2024 and in accordance with QRIC guidelines, the gelding was examined before and after the race by the veterinarian which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MY ULTIMATE CARTER – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader. Inclined to hang in at stages during the event.
Race 2 - LADBROKES OWN SPRING BAND 5 PACE 2138M
DON ARTHUR – Contacted the barrier arm and broke gait during the mid -stages of the score up.
MACH ASSASSIN – Raced wide over the final 1000 metres.
SAINT VERAN – Overraced and pulled hard during the event. Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.
MYDADSAID – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward initially to the position outside of the leader.
WE ALWAYS HAVE FAITH NZ - Raced wide with cover over the final 1000 metres.
THROWYAARMSAROUNDME NZ - Raced wide with cover over the final 1000 metres.
THE RAINBOW BEACH – Held up for a clear run at a vital stage in the straight.
GLOVER NZ - Raced wide with cover over the final 1000 metres.
RACING TIME – Raced wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.
Race 3 - WOLF SIGNS DIVIDED OPEN PACE 1660M
ALWAYS SMOKIN NZ – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.
JIMARTEE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.
MR MCLAREN NZ – Broke gait in the early stages of the score up. Raced roughly for a short distance when over racing near the 800m.
TIMS A TROOPER - Having not started in a race since February 2024 and in accordance with QRIC guidelines, the gelding was examined before and after the race by the veterinarian which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
Race 4 - CATCH THE FIRE AT SOMERSET FARMS QUALIFYING PACE (B DIV) 1660M
SMOOTH OVERARM NZ – Contacted marker posts approaching the first turn when tightened for room to the inside of Studleigh Mark.
STUDLEIGH MARK – Sustained a near-side flat tyre approaching the first turn. Driver fined careless driving.
IM BOO NZ – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 900m.
ARKIN WICKED – Inconvenienced and had to be steadied near the 400m when Bettor Keppel shifted out.
General: Taleah McMullen (Studleigh Mark) was fined $200 for being careless when shifting in approaching the first turn near the 1400m which resulted in Smooth Overarm (Chloe Butler) contacting a number of marker posts. (AHR 168(1)(a). In this incident the near side sulky tyre of Studleigh Mark was punctured.
Race 5 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND MARES QUALIFYING PACE 1660M
ALLNIGHT DANCER – Shifted in and contacted a marker post near the 1400m. A warning was issued.

RACING PAULA – Driver fined unapproved whip use.
General: Tom Ison (Racing Paula) was fined $400 in accordance with Q.R.I.C. penalty guidelines for applying the whip in an unapproved manner by using it in a continuous manner over the final 100m. (AHR 156(3)).
Race 6 - STU VALENTINE FOR BLOODSTOCK INSURANCE QUALIFYING PACE 1660M
DUKE OF SCOTLAND NZ – Shifted out in the run to the finish.
MOMENTUM SWING – Broke in the score up checking runners on the second row necessitating a false start. The gelding remained in its allocated position for the next attempt to start the race but will be drawn wide in future mobile events.
METALLICA MAN – Was restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide in the early stages. Gave ground badly over the final 600m to be beaten in excess of 120 metres. An examination by the veterinarian subsequent to the race found no abnormalities at time of examination. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory and declared ineligible until it trials satisfactorily.
MYNAMESEVAN – Broke gait in the initial score but was in position for next attempt to start the race. A warning was issued.
Race 7 – LADBROKES SUNSHINE STARS YEARLING SALE CLASSIC FINAL - 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS 1660M
VICTREE CHARLIE – Raced roughly near the 1000m. Broke gait near the 300m. After review of the gelding’s record Victree Charlie was stood down pending two(2) satisfactory trials.
STAY FOOLISH – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward initially to the position outside of the leader. Gave ground over the final 300m finishing in second last position beaten 49.6 metres. Driver confirmed her disappointment with the gelding’s performance and advised the intention would be to send Stay Foolish for a spell. Stewards noted the comments.
HAPPY AS CAN BE - Left a one wide trailing position near the 1100m and worked forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1000m.
LORD JAYDO – Inclined to race ungenerously at stages during the event.
RACE FOR RICHES – Hung out after the start and during the event. A warning was issued.
Race 8 – CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES QUALIFYING PACE (B DIV) 1660M
BLING THE LUCK – Pulled hard when being eased to take a trail in the early stages after leading the one-wide line.
KELLOSHIEL – Caught wide early and was obliged to work hard to obtain the lead near the 1000m.
NIGHT TO REMEMBER – Was caught wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader.
Race 9 – LADBROKES SUNSHINE STARS YEARLING SALE CLASSIC FINAL - 2YO FILLIES 1660M
RUBY RULES – Driver fined contacting marker posts on the home turn.
RESERVE BANK NZ – Raced roughly in the early stages.
General: Trista Dixon (Ruby Rules) was fined $100 for allowing the sulky to shift in and contact marker posts rounding the home turn. (AHR 163(1)(c)).
Race 10 – LADBROKES SUNSHINE STARS YEARLING SALE CLASSIC FINAL - 2YO FILLIES 1660M
GOT THE GLOW – Broke gait approaching the turn out of the back straight near the 1400m. Given the horse's previous record in this regard the filly will be placed on its last chance to race truly.
MISS CRUNCHY – Fractious leaving the pre-race circle.
OUR AUNTY BELMA – Left a one-wide trailing position at the rear of the field near the 1100m and after unsuccessful challenge for the position outside of the leader race wide for the remainder of the event.
ULTIMATE ARK – Broke gait after the start. The filly will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile events until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner.
Race 11 – BURWOOD STUD 3YO OPEN PACE – 1660M
Iron Clad - Driver fined contacting marker posts on the home turn.
General: Grant Dixon (Iron Clad) was fined $100 for allowing the sulky to shift in and contact marker posts rounding the home turn. (AHR 163(1)(c)).
