Race 1 - 2023 CREEK NUTRIEN YEARLING SALE PACE         1660M

Glenledi Boy NZ (Trent Dawson) held up in the early stages of the straight and raced tight against Despondent in the concluding stages.

Despondent (Angus Garrard)held up in the early stages of the straight and raced tight against Glenledi Boy NZ in the concluding stages.

Race 2 – AQWA CONSTRUCTIONS BAND 5 PACE      1660M

Another Statement (Luke Whittaker) held up in the latter stages of the race.

Betterthandiamonds (Pete McMullen) caught wide in the early stages before working forward to obtain the position outside the leader. Back in the barrier draw after two successful consecutive starts.

Call Me Keith NZ (Nathan Dawson) held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

Race 3 - QBRED BREEDERS CLASSIC - 3YO COLTS & GELDINGS (LISTED)          2138M

Class To The Max (Grant Dixon) inconvenienced on entrance to the home straight when Misty Creek moved wider on the track.

General

Julie Weidemann (Misty Creek) was reprimanded under AHR rule 168(1)(a) for carelessly shifting wider on entrance to the home straight when not sufficiently clear of Class To The Max which resulted in that gelding being inconvenienced momentarily.

Race 4 - TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BAND 4 - BAND 2 PACE  2138M

Jack William (Matt Elkins) contacted a marker peg approaching the 300 metres when racing tight to the inside of Rocknroll Icon which hung in.

Infatuation NZ (Leonard Cain) pulled hard in the middle stages of the race when racing in a midfield marker peg position.

Sam Is Perfection  (Brendan Barnes) held up for clear running in the latter stages of the race.

Rocknroll Icon  (Chris Petroff) hung in at the 300 metres before being corrected by its driver. Held up for clear running in the home straight.

Race 5 – QBRED BREEDERS CLASSIC - 3YO FILLIES (LISTED)            2138M

Jeremes Gotta Go (Nathan Dawson) moved out three wide at the 1600 metres and progressed forward however was unable to obtain the position outside the leader as Alwaysbme shifted out from behind the leader at the 1400 metres. Jeremes Gotta Go was subsequently restrained to the rear of the field after being caught wide.

Magical Maya (Trent Dawson) raced three wide with a trail from the 1600 metres and was obliged to race four wide at the 1300 metres when Jeremes Gotta Go began to be restrained when racing directly in advance.

Cat King Cole (Angus Garrard) raced three wide with a trail from the 800 metres but failed to keep the back of Racy Roxy from the 400 metres and finished fairly into seventh position beaten 13 metres. Trainer Darren Weeks stated the filly whilst disappointing, did not handle the adverse track conditions and had rubbed up with some minor hopple chaffing which may have affected its overall performance. Back in the mobile draw after two satisfactory successful starts.

Race 6 - PELICAN WATERS RESORT QUALIFYING PACE      2138M

Falcons (Ricky Thurlow) shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.

Hemsworth NZ (Pete McMullen) inconvenienced in the run to the finish when Falcons shifted out under pressure.

General

Ricky Thurlow (Falcons) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving under AHR rule 168(1)(a) for failing to make sufficient effort to keep Falcons in a straight course in the run to the finish. In assessing the matter of penalty, Stewards took into account some mitigating circumstances.

Race 7 – QBRED BREEDERS CLASSIC - 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS (LISTED)          1660M

The Tax Cullector (Pete McMullen) failed to run on after racing in a favourable one out one back position throughout and finished in last position beaten 52 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections advised the gelding raced flat and has had an extended preparation to this point. Trainer Chantal Turpin said The Tax Cullector would be sent for an immediate spell. On this undertaking Stewards took no further action.

Haveyoucheckedin (Jemma Coney) failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages.

Race 8 - QBRED BREEDERS CLASSIC - 2YO FILLIES (LISTED)            1660M

Lady Digby (Leonard Cain) inconvenienced on entrance to the home straight when The Grogmother shifted in momentarily.

The Grogmother (Nathan Dawson) hung out when leading throughout the race and shifted into the sprint lane momentarily in the home straight before being corrected by its driver. Trainer John Boserio advised the filly will be sent for an immediate spell.

Pretty Good Reason (Mathew Neilson) inconvenienced when taken back through the field by the tiring Oh My Gosh.

General

The all clear on this event was delayed to allow Leonard Cain (Lady Digby placed fourth) to view the Stewards footage of the run to the finish, and in addition to view the judges photo for third. After perusal of both matters, Leonard Cain took no further action and the all clear was given on the judges placings.

Race 9 - PSP TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP          2138M

Tam Oshanter (Brendan Barnes) galloped free of interference at the 1800 metres and a warning was issued.

Watts Up Majestic (Shane Graham) broke on the home turn when challenging for the lead. A warning was issued.

Doug NZ (Pete McMullen) galloped after the start and lost considerable ground. After considering this geldings behaviour in recent starts, Doug NZ was barred from competing in standing start events until such time it can trial satisfactorily.
