Race 1 – LADBROKES BET TICKER 0 TO 1 WIN TROTTERS HANDICAP 2138M [SS]
LAIN NZ (Jonah Hutchinson)- Trainer G Dixon was reprimanded under AHR rule 273(5)(b) for presenting the gelding with incorrect gear. Galloped out at the start, losing valuable ground; a warning was issued. Broke gait leaving the 250 metres; a further warning was issued.
LOOK FOR TASCOTT (Jack Chapple)– Raced wide rounding the first turn before working forward to lead the one-wide line, then progressed to the lead approaching the 1200 metres.
THE EMULATOR (Dallas Wilkins)– Broke gait under pressure leaving the 150 metres; a warning was issued.
SAYDIE (Mathew Neilson) – Stood flat-footed before galloping out at the start, tailing out and taking no competitive part in the event. Connections were advised that SAYDIE will continue to be drawn right out of the draw in future standing start events.
General:
Grant Dixon, trainer of LAIN NZ was reprimanded under AHR rule 273(5)(b) for presenting the gelding with incorrect gear.
Race 2 – PRYDE'S EASIFEED EASILYTE UP TO NR45 CONDITIONED TROT 2138M [SS]
IM A GYPSY QUEEN (Angus Garrard)– Lost a near-side hind shoe during the event, which may have placed the mare at a disadvantage.
MIDNIGHT SECRET (Darren McCall)– Caught wide shortly after the start before being restrained into a mid-field trailing position near the 1700 metres. Broke gait near the 1450 metres. In view of the gelding’s previous racing record in this regard, MIDNIGHT SECRET was stood down for two (2) weeks and be required to complete two (2) consecutive satisfactory requalifying trials prior to resuming racing.
LIZZIES SON (Don Brown)– Trotted roughly between the 400 metres and 200 metres, losing momentum. Driver fined unapproved whip use (AHRR 156(2)(a)).
TUNBRIDGE (Pete McMullen)– Trotted roughly shortly after the start was effected.
CASCATA (Layne Dwyer)– Commenced a three-wide run without cover from a rearward trailing position leaving the 850 metres.
General:
Don Brown, driver of LIZZIES SON was fined $200 under AHR rule 156(2)(a) for crossing the reins and applying the whip with a free hand in the run to the finish.
Race 3 – LEADING EDGE SECURITY 1 WIN PACE 1660M [MS]
KEEPING IT SIMPLE (Clint Sneddon)– Over-raced and pulled hard during the middle stages while racing in a rearward trailing position.
TWOSIPSALLY (Don Brown) – Fractious prior to the start. Gave ground over the final 400 metres, finishing in excess of 72 metres from the winner in seventh and last placing. An examination by the veterinarian subsequent to the race found no abnormalities at time of examination, other than a slow post-race recovery. Stewards deemed the performance below the required standard and advised connections that TWOSIPSALLY has been placed on its last chance to race competitively.
OUR ULTIMATE MILLY (Jack Chapple)– Having not started in a race since 26 March 2025 and in accordance with QRIC guidelines, the filly was examined before the race by the veterinarian which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Improved three-wide from the rear of the field near the 1100 metres, obtaining the position outside the leader leaving the 900 metres.
Race 4 – SELECTIVE MOTORS ALBION PACE 1660M [MS]
BATMAN BART (Pete McMullen)– Inconvenienced near the 500 metres when MAJOR TRALEE hung outwards while leading.
ROSARITO (Nathan Rothwell)– Obtained an inside run leaving the 500 metres when MAJOR TRALEE NZ hung outwards while leading.
MAJOR TRALEE (Nathan Dawson) – Hung outwards noticeably when leading leaving the 600 metres, despite the efforts of its driver, which afforded the trailing runner an inside run. An examination by the veterinarian subsequent to the race found no abnormalities at time of examination. Connections were advised that MAJOR TRALEE will be required to complete one (1) satisfactory requalifying trial prior to resuming racing.
MULLUM DOC (Matt Crone)– Failed to take part in the preliminary circle. Trainer/driver Matt Crone was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of MULLUM DOC in today’s event compared to its recent starts. Mr Crone explained that several gear changes had been implemented since its previous start and that he anticipated a more forward showing today. He attributed the improved result to these gear changes, which allowed the gelding to settle more effectively, combined with a return to a shorter course distance, which he believes better suits the gelding. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 5 – REDCLIFFE FEATURE MEETING THIS SATURDAY PACE 1660M [MS]
WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (Gary Whitaker) – Inconvenienced leaving the 500 metres and broke gait; After reviewing the incident and considering evidence, Stewards determined that no action would be taken against the gelding on this occasion.
GOTTA DREAM (Brendan Barnes)– Caught wide in the early stages and was subsequently restrained to the rear of the field near the 1300 metres.
CAPTAIN DAN NZ (Matt Elkins)– Raced three-wide during the early stages before working forward to a position outside the leader, then continued to progress and assumed the lead leaving the 950 metres. The gelding was inclined to hang inwards at various stages throughout the event and shifted ground under pressure in the run to the finish, for which a warning was issued.
MARKSMAN (Jordan Topping)– Held up for clear running rounding the home turn before utilizing the sprint lane in the run to the finish.
Race 6 – NUTRIEN EQUINE PACE 2138M [MS]
TACKAS LAST DANCE (Leonard Cain)– Inconvenienced when caught behind the tiring LET ME AT IT leaving the 600 metres.
LET ME AT IT (Matt Crone) – Having not started in a race since 10 April 2025 and in accordance with QRIC guidelines, the gelding was examined before the race by the veterinarian which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Gave ground over the final 600 metres of the event.
BEACH MAGIC (Adam Richardson)– Caught wide in the early stages and was subsequently restrained to the rear of the field near the 1700 metres.
YANKEE C J NZ (Angus Garrard)– Raced three-wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside the leader near the 1700 metres. Subsequently obtained one-out, one-back cover from FAVREAU (Jonah Hutchinson) leaving the 1500 metres.
FAVREAU (Jonah Hutchinson)– Raced four-wide initially rounding the first turn before progressing forward three-wide with cover during the early stages. Continued to work forward and obtained the position outside the leader leaving the 1500 metres. Weakened over the concluding stages of the event.
ARKUNA (Jack Chapple)– Hung inwards leaving the 350 metres, resulting in its sulky wheel contacting several marker pegs and a warning was issued.
PRINCE JOY (Nathan Dawson)– Commenced a three-wide run without cover from a rearward trailing position leaving the 850 metres.
IMANI (Trent Dawson)– Commenced a trailing three-wide run from the rear of the field leaving the 850 metres.
Race 7 – PSP TIP-TOP THURSDAY PACE 1660M [MS]
ASCOT SHOWTIME (Ricky Gordon)– Hung inwards on the first turn, resulting in its sulky wheel contacting and dislodging a marker peg. A warning was issued.
POCKET BOOK NZ (Pete McMullen)– Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight before obtaining clear running in the run to the finish.
CANADIAN LASS NZ (Nathan Dawson)– Caught racing three-wide in the early stages before progressing forward to obtain the position leading the one-wide line leaving the 1200 metres.
ALWAYS LOCKSLEY (Layne Dwyer)– Commenced a three-wide run without cover from the rear of the field leaving the 750 metres.
Race 8 – GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PACE 1660M [MS]
SON OF THE SHARK (Layne Dwyer)– Trainer Ricky Thurlow was questioned regarding the improved performance of SON OF THE SHARK in today’s event. Mr Thurlow explained that a gear change had been implemented since its previous start, specifically the addition of sliding block eyes, and that drawing a favourable gate enabled the gelding to lead, which he anticipated would result in a forward showing. Stewards noted the explanation but advised Mr Thurlow that they expect the gelding to perform to a comparable standard circumstances permitting in future starts.
ANTETOKOUNMPO (Angus Garrard)– Commenced a three-wide run without cover from a mid-field trailing position leaving the 800 metres.
EMPRESS BYELINE (Brendan Barnes)- Examined by the on-course veterinarian prior to the event after displaying signs of colic and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:33 pm on veterinary advice. Despite all efforts to treat the condition, the mare’s health deteriorated, and on humane grounds, was euthanised.
MIKIS JOE (Will Rothwell)– Caught three-wide with cover in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field near the 1200 metres. Commenced a trailing three-wide run from the rear leaving the 800 metres.
IDEAL DESIRE (Graham Dwyer)– Raced three-wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside the leader leaving the 1200 metres. Subsequently obtained one-out, one-back cover from ROCK NIEN (Nathan Dawson) near the 900 metres but gave ground over the final 800 metres.
ROCK NIEN (Nathan Dawson)– Raced three-wide with cover in the early stages before progressing forward through the middle stages to obtain the position outside the leader near the 900 metres.
BEV THE GOAT NZ (Jack Chapple)– Broke gait during the score-up and was out of position at the start. Connections were advised that BEV THE GOAT NZ will be excluded from the barrier draw for future mobile starts until Stewards are satisfied it can perform in the desired manner.
RAKADEAKS NZ (Pete McMullen)– Commenced a trailing three-wide run from a rearward position leaving the 800 metres.
Race 9 - LADBROKES QUICK MULTI PACE 1660M [MS]
ARGENT PEAK (Rickie Alchin)– Trainers representative R Alchin was fined $100 under AHR rule 273(5)(b) for presenting the gelding to race in incorrect gear.
MY ROCKY ROMANCE NZ (Pete McMullen)– Raced wide in the early stages before working forward to obtain a one-out, one-back trailing position near the 1300 metres. The gelding was inclined to hang inwards at various stages throughout the event. Driver P McMullen was questioned regarding the performance and stated he was disappointed, noting the horse had an economical run after settling but failed to finish off as expected. Mr McMullen further advised he could offer no tangible explanation for the performance.
RACING TIME (Will Rothwell)– Raced four-wide rounding the first turn, progressing forward to obtain the position outside the leader leaving the 1350 metres. Overraced and pulled hard during the early and middle stages after obtaining that position, before weakening over the concluding stages.
LULU MAE (Adam Richardson)– Broke gait in the early stages of the score-up, however filled its allotted gate position prior to the candy pole.
MISTER REACTOR (Nathan Dawson)– Displaced its off-side knee boot during the event, which may have placed the horse at a disadvantage.
