Trainer Luke McCarthy advised Not To Be Denied when successful at its previous start was first up from a spell but was disappointed with the mare failing to run on in tonights race. He said the mare may have not backed up from its race win on 8 June and it would be his intention to space the race starts of Not To Be Denied further apart. Stewards noted the explanation.

General

Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred on the first turn in which Betting Star and Shes In Line NZ competed for a one wide position from the 1400 metres. After taking evidence from drivers Adam Richardson and Taleah McMullen, Stewards could not be satisfied that a breach of the rules occurred and deemed this incident as two drivers equally contesting for the one wide position.
