Race 1 - LADBROKES PUNTER ASSIST QUALIFYING PACE 2138M
SMOOTH OVERARM NZ – led from the start however yielded ground rapidly from the 400 metres. A post race veterinary examination indicated the gelding was showing signs of respiratory distress. Smooth Overarm NZ will be required to complete a satisfactory trial before racing again and connections will require to provide Stewards an endoscopic examination report and ECG clearance.
HAVEYOUCHECKEDIN – raced three wide for the first 400 metres before working forward. Inclined to pull hard when positioned outside the leader. Lost an offside shin and tendon boot which may have placed the gelding at some disadvantage.
DANIEL BOOM – raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.
FRANCO MACHO NZ – checked from the 400 metres when taken back through the field by the tiring Smooth Overarm NZ.
MAYWYN TROUBADOUR - checked from the 400 metres when taken back through the field by the tiring Smooth Overarm NZ.
LAURIE DEE - inconvenienced from the 400 metres when taken back through the field by the tiring Smooth Overarm NZ.
THE MIGHTY MONDO NZ – failed to run on in the concluding stages and was beaten in excess of 103 metres. The gelding was barred from racing for a poor performance until such time it can trial satisfactorily.
Race 2 – WOLF SIGNS MARES QUALIFYING PACE 1660M
THE VIXEN NZ – failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested
JOANS RISING STAR NZ – raced three wide in the early stages before gaining the position outside the leader.
BETTING JEWEL – failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested
Race 3 - RACING & SPORTS.COM BAND 5 PACE 1660M
COLLECT A DIME – progressed forward three wide in the early stages but was unsuccessful in obtaining the position outside the leader which resulted in the gelding racing three wide for the remainder of the race.
MUCH BETTOR NZ – contacted a marker peg at the 200 metres when racing tight to the inside of Miracle Moose NZ.
Race 4 - 2024 GARRARDS TROTTERS CHRISTMAS CUP 2647M
SON OF A SUN NZ – galloped out and lost considerable ground taking no competitive part in the race. After considering a good recent record in this regard, connections were advised the gelding will continue to be drawn to the extreme outside in future standing starts.
GUS NZ – broke free of interference at the 200 metres and lost all chance. In view of a poor recent record in this regard, Gus NZ was barred from racing until it can trial satisfactorily on two consecutive occasions.
Race 5 – 2024 SOMERSET FARMS CHRISTMAS CUP 2680M
ARODA NZ – tired from the 400 metres after leading from the start and finished in last position beaten in excess of 65 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow race recovery and mild heat stress.
BETTERTHANAROCKET NZ – commenced to yield ground rapidly from the 800 metres and failed to finish the race. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Betterthanarocket NZ was barred from racing until a satisfactory trial is performed.
DUKE OF SCOTLAND NZ – inclined to shift out under pressure in the concluding stages.
Race 6 - THE CREEK MEMBERS CUP 2138M
MIKI MAGIC – failed to gain clear running in the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
Race 7 - THE CREEK MEMBERS CUP CONSOLATION 2138M
MAJIC MOMENT NZ – inclined to shift out under pressure in the concluding stages.
ALTA SENSATION NZ – raced tight between Arkin Wicked and Magic Moment NZ and shifted away from Magic Moment NZ and contacted the near side sulky wheel of Arkin Wicked with its hind leg causing the gelding to gallop.
ARKIN WICKED – locked sulky stays momentarily with Alta Sensation NZ
MADRIGAL NZ – contacted two marker pegs on entrance to the sprint lane.
General
The all clear on this race was delayed to allow Stewards the opportunity to review the patrol footage from the home turn where it appeared Madrigal NZ contacted two marker pegs. After review, Stewards were satisfied that Madrigal NZ had not gained an advantage sufficient to alter the placings and the all clear was subsequently given on the judges numbers.
Narrissa McMullen was fined $200 under AHR rule 163(1)(c)(ii) for carelessly contacting two marker pegs on the final turn into the sprint lane.
Race 8 – CHANGEOVER @ BURWOOD STUD MARES QUALIFYING PACE (B DIV) 1660M
POCKET BOOK NZ - checked by Kelloshiel on the first turn and lost some ground.
AARDIES MONEY NZ – severely checked by Kelloshiel on the first turn and galloped losing considerable ground.
KELLOSHIEL – hung in at the 1400 metres and broke causing severe interference to a number of runners. Kelloshiel was subsequently barred from racing until a satisfactory trial is performed.
HIGHLY RESPECTED - checked by Kelloshiel on the first turn and galloped losing ground.
KISS ON THE BEACH – broke in the early stages of the score up but was in position when the start was affected. Severely checked by Kelloshiel on the first turn and lost considerable ground.
Race 9 – BURWOOD STUD 2YO OPEN PACE 1660M
FRANCS FOR COMING – raced greenly and inclined to run out slightly at the entrance to the home straight.
BASILISK BOB – broke gait at the 300 metres resulting in the gelding losing all chance. After considering Basilisk Bobs previous record in this regard, Stewards barred the gelding from racing for 2 weeks and Basilisk Bob will be required to complete two satisfactory consecutive trials before being eligible to race again.
JUST A COOL DUDE – severely checked and galloped at the 300 metres when trailing the galloping Basilisk Bob.
SEE THE DREAM – inconvenienced at the 300 metres when Basilisk Bob galloped.
VICTREE CHARLIE – inconvenienced on the final turn when Francs For Coming shifted out on entrance to the home straight.
General
The all clear on this event was delayed to allow Darren McCall (Victree Charlie) the opportunity to view the patrol footage of the entrance to the home straight. After perusal of the film, Darren McCall took no further action and the all clear was given on the judges placings.
