Supplementary Report:

Trainer S Price reported to Stewards that her gelding HIDE AND SEEK has been working well after failing to back up from the week-to-week continuous runs via the DJ Alexander series. Trainer Price added that with the smaller field and a break since its last performance she expected a more competitive performance.

 

Race 1 – RACING & SPORTS.COM BAND 5 PACE       1660m    Mobile

No Racing Incidents

General: Driver T Callaghan was reminded of his obligations regarding his body position in the sulky [AHR Rule 170(2)].

 

Race 2 – 2025 THE CREEK MEMBERS CUP    2138m    Mobile

RIBEIRO – Placed on its last chance to race truly after breaking gait free of interference near the 300. As a result of this incident several runners were impeded, notably EAGLESPRIDE, which also broke gait.

HOLD ONTO YA BLING – Tended to race on the inside rein, wanting to shift out. Checked near the 300 when RIBEIRO broke gait resulting in the gelding shifting in and markers being struck.      

LUVBITE – Checked near the 300 when RIBEIRO broke gait resulting in the gelding shifting in and markers being struck.

EAGLESPRIDE – Severely Checked near the 300 when RIBEIRO broke gait resulting in the gelding also breaking gait rendering it non-competitive from this point on.         

BETTERTHAN POPSY  – Checked near the 300 when RIBEIRO broke gait           

 

Race 3 – GARRARDS  & HOUND MARES OPEN     1660m  Mobile

General: The start of this race was delayed approximately three(3) minutes due to the need to replace a broken spreader on REELY NAUTI.

General: A false start was declared shortly before the starting point after IMA QUEEN BEE broke gait checking REELY NAUTI.

General: The start of this race was delayed approximately a further three(3) minutes due REELY NAUTI suffering a flat tyre in the incident.

IMA QUEEN BEE – Will be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events due to causing the false start.

SERGIOS ROCKET – Gave ground rapidly from the 700 to be beaten in excess of 260 metres. A subsequent Veterinary Examination found the mare to have suffered an Atrial Fibrillation. Under AHR Rule 101C(2)(a), SERGIOS ROCKET is stood down for 14 days. The horse must undergo complete rest, connections must provide a veterinary clearance including a satisfactory ECG, and finally, SERGIOS ROCKET needs to satisfactorily complete one official trial before resuming racing.

REELY NAUTI – Broke gait in the second attempt at a score-up, losing valuable ground. Due to the false start and subsequent gear issues, no embargo was placed REELY NAUTY.    

 

Race 4 – 2025 SOMERSET FARMS CHRISTMAS CUP    2680m   Mobile

No Racing Incidents

 

Race 5 – NUTRIEN EQUINE QUALIFYING PACE     2138m  Mobile

MY ULTIMATE COSSIE – Over-raced when caught wide in the early stages, continued to do so once positioned at the rear of the field after 600 metres.            

General: Driver D Watson was reminded of his obligations regarding the manner he used his whip in the early stages of the home straight for the run to the finish [AHR Rule 156(3)].

 

Race 6 – LADBROKES RACING EXTRAS IN MULTI MARES QUALIFYING PACE   2138m  Mobile

CANDYKANE – Subjected to a Post-Race Veterinary Examination which, after racing in behind the leader, tired significantly over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 45 metres. On examination no obvious issues were detected. On questioning trainer G Geeson stated that CANDYCANE can prove to be a difficult horse to drive adding that the mare was without its usual driver who she feels understands the racing characteristics well. CANDYCANE was placed on its last chance to race competitively.

General: Driver N Rothwell was reminded of his obligations regarding his body position in the sulky [AHR Rule 170(2)].

 

Race 7 – STU VALENTINE FOR BLOODSTOCK INSURANCE BAND 4 PACE   1660m  Mobile

MOSSDALE TERRY NZ – Led the race comfortably, unexpectantly run over in the final stages, placed fifth. Subjected to a Post-Race Veterinary Examination. On examination no obvious issues were found. On questioning, driver Gaham although believing the gelding was not disgrace in any way acknowledged his disappointment with the performance, indicating that the gelding may be kept away from racing for a period.

MIRACLE MOOSE NZ– Utilsed the sprint lane in the run to the finish.

TARGARYEN NZ – Failed to gain clear running over the concluding stages.                        

 

Race 8 – 2025 GARRARDS TROTTERS CHRISTMAS CUP     2647m  Stand

TAYLAD TO USE NZ – Tended to hang in on the turns. 

GOLDEN SUNSET – On release, the 10m strands contacted the mare’s front legs.        

HIDE AND SEEK – Began well from its 10m handicap, working forward, finding the lead near the 2000.              

 

Race 9 – BURWOOD STUD 3YO PACE      1660m    Mobile

SEASIDE GLORY – Tended to race on the inside rein. Shifted out on the final turn racing tight against RAKASANDY NZ. Issued with a warning for shifting ground.

THE RASCAL NZ – Checked late on the final turn and broke gait.          

RAKASANDY NZ – Raced rough, late on the final turn when tight against SEASIDE GLORY.       

BASILISK BOB – Inconvenienced when RAKASANDY NZ raced rough. 

FERNCO NEL NZ – Raced rough on the final turn, hanging in, contributing to the tightening of THE RASCAL NZ

General:Stewards questioned drivers A Sanderson (SEASIDE GLORY), N Dawson (THE RASCAL NZ), A Garrard (RAKASANDY NZ) and B Barnes (BASILISK BOB) into the reason why THE RASCAL NZ broke gait. At the inquiry it was established that through several contributing factors, which included SEASIDE GLORY shifting out, BASILISK BOB being full of running and inconvenienced when RAKASANDY NZ raced rough, and FERNCO NEL (P McMullen) racing rough and hanging in on straightening, THE RASCAL was checked and broke gait. Stewards, took no action other than to note the drivers evidence, the circumstances contributing to the incident and place a warning on SEASIDE GLORY for shifting ground.
