Stewards noted the intended tactics from trainers with multiple runners in the one race

Redcliffe – 30 June 2022

  • Race 4– Stewards inquired into the reason for Swift Change (Nathan Dawson) being tightened for racing room as Outer Change (Ricky Gordon) was being eased to a position on the marker posts near the 1000 m. After considering the evidence Ricky Gordon was given the benefit of the doubt as to whether he was fully responsible for the incident.
  • Race 8– Stewards questioned Zac Chappenden regarding the tactics adopted on Lifes Black and its overall performance. Zac Chappenden advised that the instructions given by connections were to go forward on the gelding as it was considered that apart from Sole Ambition there was limited speed on the front line. He advised that when Kanye Crusader unexpectedly held the lead the position he was obliged to work harder than anticipated three wide to obtain the position outside of the leader. Mr Chappenden further advised that he considered it was too late in the race to take a sit when Gottashopearly moved up three-wide near the 900 m. Stewards noted the comments.
  • Stewards further questioned Zac Chappenden regarding his departure from the track prior to the designated time period without Stewards permission. After consideration of the matter Zac Chappenden was fined $100 for the contravention of AHR. 43A(1).
