Mark Yole was spot on last weekend with his best of the weekend being Our Better Bro who took out the first race of the program at Hobart in stylish fashion, first up in the state.

Racing is back at Burnie this Friday night with an 8-race program, highlighted by the Northwest Plate Heats.

The Doug Martin Danbury Park Cup and the Shirley Martin Mother of Pearl are the features at Launceston on Sunday evening.

Mark has his thoughts for his drive across the weekend.

Burnie 13 December

Race 2 - Feelinkindalucky: Okay run last week when leading and not getting much peace. Ideal draw here, especially with the one horse being scratched. I expect him to lead and be hard to beat.

Race 3 - Major Ideal: Form needs to improve.

Race 4 - Gottahaveahobbie: Loves the track and the standing start. If he can lead, he will run a super race. If not, he’ll need to find cover.

Race 5 - Kiavino Stride (Best of the weekend): Going well, the draw is awkward but if he can get up into the race, he should be right in the finish.

Race 6 - Where Ya Bin: Loves the stand but needs to improve on his first run back in the state. Place chance might be best here.

Race 7 - Gobsmacked: Going along honestly, the draw is tricky, but I’ll drive him patiently and if luck comes his way he wouldn’t surprise.

Launceston 15 December

Race 2 - Yareckon Im Sweet: Super win last week over this distance when she was able to lead. The draw makes it hard, but I see her sitting behind the leader so if got a split could be right in this.

Race 3 - Soho Undertaker: Battled on okay in the Guineas last week. Drops in class but the draw hurts him. Hope he can earn a cheque.

Race 4 - Major Lester: He’s becoming the perennial placegetter, gets a great draw, will most likely sit behind the leader and get his chance to make his presence felt.

Race 5 - Keayang Fitzy: I thought it was an outstanding effort last week in the Toreace Flying Mile. He got caught outside the leader and only got beaten 7 metres in a 1:54 mile rate. Needs to step safely here which is questionable to give himself any chance.

Race 7- Our Better Bro: A nice debut in the state last week when he sat behind the leader and raced away from his rivals in the straight. This draw is a bit tricky, but if I can get him into clean air, he will be hard to beat again.

Race 8 - Settebello: Great to see this guy get back in the winners list last start, this race is harder and the one horse (who will start favourite) looks very hard to beat. I’m hoping to sit in the first four and run a nice race.
