Water Lou.
The countdown is on and we’re just 8 days away from the grand finale, the inaugural W Night on Friday September boasting the best of the west, but before we get there, we have the much-anticipated barrier draws for the 2YO and 3YO Westbred Classics next Monday, September 2 at Pinjarra.
Set for 5.15pm, the bar will be open, light meals will be available, and the all-important barrier draw will be conducted by Racing WA Officials Cameron Brown and Nathan Scott, with the effervescent Tim Gossage hosting.
All are welcome and implored to stick around after the last on Monday to watch the draw.
3YO star filly Water Lou, who finished in sixth place in last year's 2YO Westbred Classic will be looking to continue her winning streak, with the impressive youngster winning 11 of her last 12, with her only non-winning run back in late June seeing her pulled out of the event due to a fibrillation.
Last year's 2YO Westbred Classic winner in Xceptional Arma gets her chance again this year to defend her title.
Ryan Bell has everything crossed that the barrier draw goes their way on Monday, with Waverider looking to add another feature to his resume this season after claiming the 3YO Pearl Classic in late May.
Coming out of Mondays run well, Bell couldn’t be more impressed with how this preparation is going this season but is realistic in his chances that the barrier draw will definitely make a difference.
$215,000 of stakes will be on offer for the 2YO Westbred Classics, and $100,000 for the 3YO Classics, with a Westbred Breeders bonus also payable to breeders of horses placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with 1st taking a $5000 bonus, $3000 for 2nd and $2000 on offer for the breeder of the 3rd place getter in all four classics on the night.
