The 2024 Team Teal campaign across New South Wales achieved record results raising $87,000 towards the WomenCan initiative.

These funds go towards crucial ovarian and gynaecological cancer research and education programs through the Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG).

Harness Racing NSW Chief Executive Peter Buckman said he was proud of the efforts of participants and organisations that contributed to this record fundraising effort.

“We raised more than $68,000 across NSW last year and aimed to reach that target this campaign, so to exceed that is a fantastic result for all that contributed to the final tally,” said Buckman.

“I thank our participants that rallied behind such an important initiative.

“Every day in Australia 18 women are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer.

“If we can make a difference and support the lives of those affected through this campaign, hopefully that number decreases with more awareness of gynaecological cancer.”

From February 1 to March 15, reinswomen wore teal driving pants to raise awareness of the cause, as well as Team Teal ambassadors in teal silks placed in each major region of the state.

This year’s Team Teal ambassadors in NSW were KerryAnn Morris (trainer/driver), Hannah Rixon (driver), Jemma Coney (driver), Grace Panella (trainer-driver), Taylah Osmond (driver), Ellen Jones (trainer/driver), Amanda Turnbull (trainer/driver) and Olivia Frisby (driver).

During the 44 days of the campaign, HRNSW pledged to donate $200 to WomenCan for every female trained and/or driven in the state as well as an additional $200 for every ambassador win.

Adding to this, Tabcorp also donated $200 for every female-driven winner and Club Menangle also pledged $200 for every female trained and/or driven winner at their track during the campaign.

The Tamworth HRC also pledged $100 for every female trained and/or driven winner at their track and so did the Newcastle HRC with additional funds raised at their Frocks at the Trots night.
