Cameron Hart and Jarrod Alchin combined to win the Lachlan Valley Cup at Cowra's Carnival of Cups with Pas Guarantee.

THE first leg of the revamped Carnival of Cups series has been completed and there are still lucrative bonuses on offer.

The Jarrod Alchin-trained Pas Guarantee took out the $60,000 TAB Lachlan Valley Cup at Cowra’s Carnival of Cups in track record time on November 12 and is in contention for the $300,000 Carnival of Cups Bonus.

However, there are still bonuses available for the remainder of the Carnival of Cups circuit.

With four more meetings to go, a horse that wins four of the Cup features will earn a $200,000 bonus or if a horse wins three of those features there is a $100,000 bonus on offer.

And it is for this reason that Alchin is aiming other stable runners towards the Carnival of Cups series.

“We did consider sending Pas Guarantee over to Western Australia for their feature races but with the Carnival of Cups bonus on offer, he has the potential to earn more money so will do all of his racing in New South Wales and chase the Carnival of Cups series,” the Menangle Park horseman said.

“There is some great money on offer and I will definitely aim Firestorm Red at Young as well after he ran such a great race to finish fourth to Pas Guarantee at Cowra the other week.

“I am also considering aiming Missed The Truth at the series . . . he has been in top form and I think he will suit that type of racing.

“He will have a hit-out at Menangle on Monday and I will make my final decision after that.”

The next leg of the Carnival of Cups series heads to Young on December 1 with the $60,000 Cherry City Cup the main feature.

Next stop is the $60,000 Tamworth City Cup on January 26 then the $60,000 Murray Cup at Albury on February 16 and the final leg is the $60,000 Merino Cup at Goulburn on April 28.

All these features are for horses with an NR up to 120 and held over the long journey at those respective tracks.
