Unwanted filly claims Tasbred 3YO fillies final

Three trainers let the chance to have a 6ty° Bandbox winner go past.

Iden Boutique was being pre-trained by Brighton-based trainer Christian Salter, and with his work commitments, she was to be sent elsewhere to continue her racing career.

But after no trainer was keen to take on the filly, the daughter of Stonebridge Regal remained in the care of Salter, who produced her out in magnificent order to claim the $60 000 Group 2 Tasbred three-year-old fillies feature in Launceston on Sunday night.

Confidently driven by Mark Yole, Iden Boutique sat outside the second market elect Mays Place for the duration of the 2200m event.

Yole called upon the favourite turning for home, and the filly responded, racing away to score by 6.9m in a mile rate of 2m 1.2s for the 2200m.

“She has done a good job.

“She has had a few little issues along the way, and nothing has gone to plan, especially this week,” said a relieved Christian Salter post-race.

“She has come a long way in the last six to eight months, to what we thought she was to now winning a Sires’ final,” added the trainer.

Reinsman Mark Yole was equally as excited with the win.

“She deserved that as she has been the standout filly all year.

“I wasn’t scared to sit outside her (Mays Place), we did it in the heat and was too good, and I thought we could pretty much do the same thing again,” said Yole.

Iden Boutique is the only horse to race out of the Art Major mare Iden Boutique.

The filly is raced by prominent Tasmanian golfer, owner and breeder Elliot Booth.

The win was one of four on the card for winning driver Mark Yole. He had success with Kenya and Euroking, who are both trained by his brother Ben.

His other winner was aboard the Shane Boon-trained Im Rock Solid. Yole’s driving quartet followed four winners in the sulky in Hobart on Friday night.
