Rue bounces towards 1000

Mat Rue.

The countdown continues for reinsman Mat Rue as he heads towards 1000 winners. 

The 32-year-old driver will head to Bathurst tonight with 996 wins to his credit. 

Rue only has two drives at the meeting so will not reach the milestone tonight. 

His drives includes recent Bathurst winner Hall Cash in race one for trainer Andrew Hall. 

Rue’s other assignment is with maiden pacer Soldtoyousir who is yet to win a race in 47 starts. 

The mare had her first start with trainer Aaron Williams at Young last week and finished fourth. 

Aside from driving, Rue has had a strong start to the season as a trainer netting 23 wins so far. 

His personal best season to date was in the extended 2019/21 season where he trained 38 winners.
