Albion Park, Saturday 7 February
Form Analysis by Darren Clayton
RACE ONE
Group 1 winning FRENCH FRIES (9) will be second up for this assignment after a tidy 3rd when returning from gate 5 and finishing 4m astern of FINAL DEADLINE. Last seen in the Triad victory in August prior to that first up effort, he can follow through from this gate and prevail.
UDDERLY SWEET (2) eased from gate 5 last week to settle rearward at the mile. Strong to the line in the closing stages to be under 3m from the winner XPRESS PARTY, he should strip fitter for that outing where he was six-weeks between runs. An improved gate can see him challenge.
BRAVENTREACHEROUS (1) will derive great benefit from his last where he was fresh up off his December Members Cup win. Just 3m from FINAL DEADLINE, the gate is a huge plus.
MIKIS JOE (8) scored a tough win at Redcliffe last time out when wide for a long way and still taking a 3m margin. With the map to follow the speed, he is a podium player.
SELECTIONS: FRENCH FRIES (9), UDDERLY SWEET (2), BRAVENTREACHEROUS (1), MIKIS JOE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-8-9
RACE TWO
Threatening to win a race throughout January, DISTRICT ATTORNEY (8) was unable to deliver the W, placing in four of his five outings. Not suited when asked to sit parked, he is at his best with a soft trip and mapping for that perfect scenario here, can stalk the speed to claim the verdict.
QUADDIE VC (1) has been racing well in midweek assignments and will look to bring that to Saturday night. Claiming a standing start event last time from a 10m tape and defeating subsequent winner SEND IT, he has the speed to burrow through here and issue a challenge.
TURN IT UP (10) chased home to grab the bronze last start when 7m astern of the winner MULLUM HANK. Five weeks between runs in that appearance, he can be making a play here.
CONGO LINE (2) had been building towards a victory and found conditions to suit last time out when swooping late and taking a narrow margin. Settling handy with tempo, he can chime in.
SELECTIONS: DISTRICT ATTORNEY (8), QUADDIE VC (1), TURN IT UP (10), CONGO LINE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: DISTRICT ATTORNEY (8) to win
RACE THREE
With seven weeks between appearances, FERNCO NEL (10) just missed on reeling them in here last week when finishing just a half-head from victory. That ended a four win streak that had included a history making 1.49.3 mile. Despite the tricky second line gate, the added fitness helps.
HOT ROD HARRY (6) did not have the smoothest passage here two starts back but still was just 3m from the winner FACT FINDER. Descending on them last start to take a 6m margin, the beaten XPRESS PARTY has franked the form with a subsequent victory. The gate stings.
RESILIENT (2) looked in a forlorn position last week as the field swung for home. Angled across heels into open space, he sprouted wings to score a smart win. He can be close up again here.
MY ULTIMATE FLYNN (1) repelled them last start and was fighting to the wire to hold 3rd behind LANAI. Luckless the start prior, he can dictate his position here to chase another podium.
SELECTIONS: FERNCO NEL (10), HOT ROD HARRY (6), RESILIENT (2), MY ULTIMATE FLYNN (1)
SUGGESTED BET: FERNCO NEL (10) to win
RACE FOUR
Off the back of two trials in readiness for his latest campaign, the dual G1 winner GUS (9) makes his return here from the 40m tape. While that is a big mark to overcome, the 3157 of this trip should offset that. Coming of age with successive wins at Christchurch at the end of his last prep, he can return in style.
NOT AS PROMISED (5) was forced to do all the heavy lifting last week at 2138 when sitting parked and grinding the trip. Holding off all bar the winner AJAY VOLSTEAD that darted up the passing lane, he should strip fitter from the second up effort and can throw it down here.
HIDE AND SEEK (8) started off 30m last time at the 13-furlong trip when holding on for the bronze behind AJAY VOLSTEAD. Fresh up there, he is a podium player once again.
ZEALOUS SPUR (6) has been kept fresh since a last start 3rd when starting off 30m over 2138 and finishing 4m astern of the winner. Placed his past three, he is never too far away.
SELECTIONS: GUS (9), NOT AS PROMISED (5), HIDE AND SEEK (8), ZEALOUS SPUR (6)
SUGGESTED BET: GUS (9) to win
RACE FIVE
The FFA returns to the mile this week after they tackled the middle trip here last week where IM THE FALCON (3) showed the early hustle to be first across to the poles from gate 2. Taking the trail on SPEAK THE TRUTH thereafter, he made a late dive to be just a half-neck astern of the winner. Back to the mile and fitter following two runs back, he can capitalise.
JIMARTEE (2) was the one to ease off the inside and lead up the one wide line last week and with a sub 55 close out from the front, was always going to be facing an ask. Sectionally impressive week to week, if he can land somewhere close, he can challenge.
TIMS A TROOPER (7) is the Mr Consistency of the open class ranks, finishing in the top three at his past six in succession. 3m away last week, he will be thereabouts again here.
HECTOR (1) was making some good metres last start along the passing lane when under 4m from SPEAK THE TRUTH. Mapping to be one spot closer, he is a podium hope.
SELECTIONS: IM THE FALCON (3), JIMARTEE (2), TIMS A TROOPER (7), HECTOR (1)
SUGGESTED BET: IM THE FALCON (3) to win
RACE SIX
After two heat rounds comprising of four heats in total, ALDEBARANSTILINSKI (14) will chase a clean sweep of the series. Sent forward and proving too strong in the opening round, he came with one run in round two and pulled clear late for a smart 7m margin. Hitting this ready to peak, he is the one to beat.
SASSY GALLEON (10) was trying to launch a closing raid in the opening heat when grabbing the silver behind ALDEBARANSTILINSKI. Out of the pack and reeling them in before posting a 12m margin in round 2, she is a mare on the up and if she can avoid traffic in the capacity field, she has the talent to challenge.
IMPACT STRIDE (9) has been just behind the placings through both heat rounds, weaving a passage in the second heat behind ALDEBARANSTILINSKI. With a cleaner passage he has claims.
FENOMENAL (8) worked forward with a good beginning in the second heat round to find the pocket trail and was best of the chasers behind SASSY GALLEON. He can get forward early again here to feature.
SELECTIONS: ALDEBARANSTILINSKI (14), SASSY GALLEON (10), IMPACT STRIDE (9), FENOMENAL (8)
SUGGESTED BET: ALDEBARANSTILINSKI (14) to win
RACE SEVEN
After knocking on the door since arriving in Qld, the conditions prevailed for OUR MIKI DIVA (9) last time out and she strolled through for a narrow victory. Gunned down three back when 4m from the winner, she can trail through early here and be in position to launch the closing raid.
PLATIMUM JEWEL (2) put the writing on the wall with a smart 2nd behind SEGIOS ROCKET here two starts back in this same grade. Tackling all comers last start in a NR75 contest, she produced a starchy effort to grind out a 1.53.2 PB. With her best gate since October, she will challenge.
REASON TO SHINE (5) has been placed at her past five in succession, runner-up at her past three on the bounce. Best of the chasers behind SHES A WARRAWEE last time, she has claims.
SWEET ADDDITION (6) has proven costly in recent weeks. Going under as the fav in three of her past four attempts. Down the line last start behind PLATINUM JEWEL, the gate hurts.
SELECTIONS: OUR MIKI DIVA (9), PLATIMUM JEWEL (2), REASON TO SHINE (5), SWEET ADDDITION (6)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR MIKI DIVA (9) to win
RACE EIGHT
Stepping out for her Qld debut, 4YO mare SHES CRUNCHY (6) arrived in Qld late last year as the winner on four of her five appearances. Impressing in a recent trial hit out when sent to the line hard held after a strong last 800, she can look to defy the wide gate for a first up victory.
DAISY DIANA (7) will appreciate a return to her own sex after recent starts against all comers. Hitting the line strongly at the mile last time when just a neck from the winner, the start prior she chased the smart FINAL DEADLINE. Despite the gate which is the result of her quirks, she looms large.
SEASIDE GLORY (9) lost some vital momentum last start when buried on the inside when 7m from the winner RESILIENT. Runner-up behind the in-form POST PAINTER two back, she has claims.
MAJORITA JUJON (5) was not suited when forced to sit parked last week. Despite the tough trip, she was in for the fight and was under 2m from the winner OUR MIKI DIVA. Another tricky gate stings her hopes.
SELECTIONS: SHES CRUNCHY (6), DAISY DIANA (7), SEASIDE GLORY (9), MAJORITA JUJON (5)
SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE
A tough mares event to close the night where a wide gate make the task harder for SOAP OPERA (6) to prevail. Sitting parked last week as IMA QUEEN BEE saw them off. Showing how setting the tempo worked in her favour when scoring three starts back, she can look to defy the gate with the W.
AURORA JOY (2) was a winner three starts back when finishing over the top in posting a narrow margin. Locked away in both subsequent appearances, she maps to get in behind the speed and off a genuine tempo will be looking to make the closing shot a winning one.
IMA QUEEN BEE (5) has finished top two in four of her past five, the latest when producing a dictating victory in a new PB. Beaten a blister two starts back, she is a huge threat.
SELECTIONS: SOAP OPERA (6), AURORA JOY (2), IMA QUEEN BEE (5)
SUGGESTED BET: SOAP OPERA (6) to win
