Cranbourne, Sunday 12 January

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: KIMCANDO (9) is resuming since August but she demolished her rivals in fast time at a Shepparton trial victory last week and should prove hard to beat based on that performance. ROYAL CADENCE (3) trailed the leader and finished off best to win easily over Presidentialchange (won since) at Maryborough last outing so she must be considered as a winning chance from her good draw. BLAZIN HEAVEN (11) led throughout at a Globe Derby victory three starts ago and did well after sustaining a flat tyre at Melton last outing so she warrants respect. BEST BACK BRUCE (8) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and has the speed to figure in the finish.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: KIMCANDO (9), ROYAL CADENCE (3), BLAZIN HEAVEN (11), BEST BACK BRUCE (8)

RATINGS: 9/ 3,11/ 8/ 2,4,5

SUGGESTED BET: KIMCANDO (9) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: SHAQ (4) produced a big performance after enduring a torrid trip when he scored at Bendigo on November 20. He hasn’t been placed in five starts since but he will appreciate a decent drop back in class for this assignment and he should prove very hard to beat. DEUCE COUPE (3) finished off strongly to break through for a deserved victory at Cranbourne last outing. He was runner up in four of his five starts prior and he looms as one of the leading chances again. OUR FIRE AND DELIGHT (7) drops back in class for this event and is capable of improving on her numerical form. She scored in fast time at Warragul on October 28 and will be aided to competing in a small field of seven runners. MAJORS CREEK (2) possesses early speed and attempted to lead all of the way when third at Shepparton on Tuesday. She is drawn to lead again and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 4,5

SELECTIONS: SHAQ (4), DEUCE COUPE (3), OUR FIRE AND DELIGHT (7), MAJORS CREEK (2)

RATINGS: 4/ 3,7/ 2/ 6/ 1,5

SUGGESTED BET: SHAQ (4) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: KYVALLEY ANTHONY (5) is racing consistently and deserves to break through for a win. He finished fourth behind Fremarkstilly (won again since) at Geelong and followed with a third behind the in-form mare Tictok at Melton. SPIRITED LASS (7) has gait issues but has the ability to figure in the finish if she delivers a fool proof display. She led and appeared to be the winner but broke stride in the straight at Cranbourne then galloped away at her latest unplaced performance. ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD (4) was successful after leading out then taking cover at Cranbourne two starts ago and is likely to adopt similar tactics here. He is a speedy type and will be suited to competing over the sprint distance. BLANCO CANYON (6) is usually competitive against this class and is worth a ticket each way.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely early leader), 5

SELECTIONS: KYVALLEY ANTHONY (5), SPIRITED LASS (7), ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD (4), BLANCO CANYON (6)

RATINGS: 5/ 7/ 4/ 6/ 1/ 2,3

SUGGESTED BET: KYVALLEY ANTHONY (5) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: MACHANE SAID (2) was shuffled back on the markers but showed terrific acceleration along the sprint lane to score at Melton then followed with a fast finishing third behind the handy mare Mona Mia. He is racing in peak form and should prove hard to beat again. EL BOSTON (3) finished quickly when a big second in a sizzling mile rate of 1.52.2 at Bendigo last week. He is a short course specialist and possesses early speed so he must be considered as a winning chance. MASTER REMI (6) has been placed in three of his past four starts against similar opposition and should be competitive again. He did well after commencing from the outside of the front line at his latest third behind Rudy Gee. PESCI (4) finished eighth at his last effort back in April and that was his first run since December 2023 so he lacks solid racing. He has ability however and was placed in a Maryborough trial performance last week so he is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 1

SELECTIONS: MACHANE SAID (2), EL BOSTON (3), MASTER REMI (6), PESCI (4)

RATINGS: 2,3/ 6/ 4/ 1/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: MACHANE SAID (2) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: TWISTING BY (4) produced a big finishing burst to gun down Rakajed at Cranbourne two starts ago then had no luck and came from last at his latest creditable second. He is racing in fine form and should make his presence felt. HITTHEROADJACK (6) has been safely held in all of his three starts since resuming but he will appreciate a significant drop back in class and should run a sharper race. BUSLOAD OF FAITH (3) overcame a tough trip and clearly outstayed his rivals when a big winner at Maryborough last week. This is a field of more depth but he is likely to give another forward showing. IM WESLEY (1) and HARRYS A ROCKSTAR (2) are both worth thought in multiple combinations from their good draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 1,6

SELECTIONS: TWISTING BY (4), HITTHEROADJACK (6), BUSLOAD OF FAITH (3), HARRYS A ROCKSTAR (2)

RATINGS: 4/ 3,6/ 2/ 1/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: TWISTING BY (4) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: ROBLEN RANGER (3) began quickly to lead, copped plenty of pressure mid-race and battled on well for second at Maryborough last outing. He is a good chance of finding the lead again and is capable of going one better. NETRA (6) will appreciate a drop back in class on his latest eighth behind Machane Said at Melton. She appears to be well placed against this line up and looms as one of the leading chances. HESAA LISTER (2) is racing consistently and is nearing a win against this class. He commenced from the inside of the second line and was shuffled back on the markers so he didn’t have much luck at his latest fourth. BULLETPROOF KID (4) is a lightly raced 5yo pacer, which should strip fitter from his first up performance and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 4

SELECTIONS: ROBLEN RANGER (3), NETRA (6), HESAA LISTER (2), BULLETPROOF KID (4)

RATINGS: 3/ 2,6/ 4/ 5/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: ROBLEN RANGER (3) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: FAR AS POSSIBLE (3) is out of the former handy South Australian mare Bold Mover, which won 15 races and she has shown some promise at her two starts to date. She settled three back on the markers and held her ground over the latter stages when third behind Hard Rock Angel at Terang last outing. GUNNY TEE (4) did well after being left stranded without cover when third at Kilmore on December 26. He is an experienced maiden but he should be competitive against this line up. BRIGITTE ROYALE (6) began quickly from the outside of the front line but couldn’t get across to the markers and ended up being in the one out and one back trail at her latest fifth. It is not a fast front line here and she might be able to find the lead so she could show up. STARTLING (1) has ability but is still learning. She is ideally drawn and is capable of improving on her numerical form if she delivers a fool proof display.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: FAR AS POSSIBLE (3), GUNNY TEE (4), BRIGITTE ROYALE (6), STARTLING (1)

RATINGS: 3/ 4,6/ 1,2/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: FAR AS POSSIBLE (3) each way
