Swan Hill, Friday 1 November

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: NO EMOTION (3) attempted to lead throughout when third at Swan Hill then followed with a third behind Markleigh Caz (won again since) at Charlton. He is ideally drawn and should be prominent for a long way. CHALKNCHEDDAR (9) took on harder opposition when a creditable fourth behind Bettes Blue Violet at Ballarat last outing. He has performed consistently at his five starts back from a break and he looms as one of the leading chances. RIVERGUM COUNTESS (10) has been racing well at Mildura and might be better suited on the more spacious Swan Hill circuit. She pushed around the field to race without cover when she scored from a similar draw at Mildura on September 27. FRIENDS (1) was heavily supported at Kilmore last week when having his first start for trainer Tony Xihira but he locked wheels and struck bother. He possesses early speed and is a possible improver.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 1,7

SELECTIONS: NO EMOTION (3), CHALKNCHEDDAR (9), RIVERGUM COUNTESS (10), FRIENDS (1)

RATINGS: 3/ 9,10/ 1/ 5,6

SUGGESTED BET: NO EMOTION (3) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: OZZIE DAYBREAK (8) has worked back to her best form and is ready to break through for a win. She left a trailing position to move up without cover when she battled on bravely for second at Mildura last week. HESASTAR (4) worked home nicely for fourth behind Daysie Brown at Mildura last week and is worth a ticket each way. SUNSHINE WARRIOR (3) has been in winning form at Mildura recently and should be competitive again. NANNA HELEN (2) will appreciate her best draw for some time and has claims along with the fast beginner MACHSTIQUE (5).

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 1,3,6

SELECTIONS: OZZIE DAYBREAK (8), HESASTAR (4), SUNSHINE WARRIOR (3), MACHSTIQUE (5)

RATINGS: 8/ 3,4/ 2,5/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: OZZIE DAYBREAK (8) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: DALLAS MIKI (1) ran a much sharper race for third behind Jilliby Typhoon last week, where he finished off well from the second half of the field. He is much better drawn for this assignment and he should continually be getting fitter with each run this preparation so he is worth an investment. DIRECT COMMAND (2) will also be reaching his peak after having two starts since a break. He ran into a distant second behind Maginot Line at Wagga last outing and is likely to find this assignment to be easier. SPRING DELIGHT (3) is a fast beginner and gains a nice draw with the aid of a concession claim. He was successful after moving forward to race without cover at Mildura three starts ago. OUR MASTER PLAY (8) has performed well at Swan Hill previously and is a value hope from the trailing draw. BUDD SIDEWINDER (5) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,6,7

SELECTIONS: DALLAS MIKI (1), DIRECT COMMAND (2), SPRING DELIGHT (3), OUR MASTER PLAY (8)

RATINGS: 1,2/ 3/ 5,8/ 6,7/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: DALLAS MIKI (1) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: LINDY GRACE (4) should be ready to strike winning form after having two starts since a spell. She finished well for second behind The Sky Is The Limit (won again since) when she was resuming and she has the early speed to be prominent throughout. SWEET MAORI MISS (5) is also a fast beginner and was able to lead throughout at a Shepparton victory on September 17. She has made errors at her past two attempts but will take beating if she is on her best behaviour. TUBS NOW SLIM (6) can also make errors occasionally but he has the ability to feature prominently if he puts it altogether. He finished second behind The Sky Is The Limit at Maryborough last week. KYVALLEY PAINT (3) finished off boldly for third behind Jansu at his latest attempt and won against similar grade at Ararat prior so he is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader) 5,6

SELECTIONS: LINDY GRACE (4), SWEET MAORI MISS (5), TUBS NOW SLIM (6), KYVALLEY PAINT (3)

RATINGS: 4/ 5,6/ 3/ 1,7/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: LINDY GRACE (4) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: HUGO ROCKS (5) was caught wide early and had to be restrained to last so he had little luck when competing at Metropolitan level last week. He motored to the line when a close second behind Blake Bolac at Swan Hill prior and he is capable of going one better now. WATTLEBANK ARNIE (8) is awkwardly drawn on the inside of the second line but he has returned from a break in outstanding form having won three of his past four starts. He finished off best to down Valiente in a mile rate of 1.58.2 at Bendigo on October 23. TWISTED BLISS (9) settled three back on the inside and angled into the clear at the 300m when she finished off well for second behind Powersofpersuasion at Mildura last week. She possesses a powerful finishing burst so she cannot be discarded. CHEERSTOLOU (2), CEE CEE IN AMERICA (4) and OZZIE BATTLER (6) all have claims in a strong race to commence the Quaddie.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3,6

SELECTIONS: HUGO ROCKS (5), WATTLEBANK ARNIE (8), TWISTED BLISS (9), CEE CEE IN AMERICA (4)

RATINGS: 5,8/ 9/ 2,4,6/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: HUGO ROCKS (5) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: LIKE A WILDFIRE (13) was driven aggressively to move up without cover and battled on bravely for second behind Cantfindabettorman last outing. His efforts in the Kilmore Cup and the Smoken Up Sprint prior were sound and he will take beating against this line up. HECTOR (11) trailed the leader and used the sprint lane when he accelerated beautifully to win a heat of the South Australian Cup then he went down fighting when a brave second in the Final. He is racing in fine form and should prove hard to beat again. PERFECT STRIDE (10) ran a game second behind Captain Ravishing in the Graham Goffin Memorial and his past two placed efforts in New South Wales have been sound. He is awkwardly drawn but he is racing too well to dismiss. KOSIMO (6) had little luck in the Argent FFA last week and he possesses a powerful finishing burst so he rates as a value hope. TIGER BAND WAGON (5) is stepping up in class from his latest victory at Melton but he is a versatile pacer and is capable of running a good race from his reasonable draw.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 1,2

SELECTIONS: LIKE A WILDFIRE (13), HECTOR (11), PERFECT STRIDE (10), KOSIMO (6)

RATINGS: 13/ 10,11/ 6/ 5/ 7,12

SUGGESTED BET: LIKE A WILDFIRE (13) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: CALLMETHEBREEZE (7) commenced from the handicap of 30m, circled around the field and endured a torrid trip when a huge winner of the Kilmore Cup at his standing start debut. He performed below expectations in the Bill Collins Sprint but he is capable of bouncing back into winning form under these conditions. PARISIAN ARTISTE (6) looms as the logical danger. He finished third in the Kilmore Cup when he was resuming over the staying trip of 3150m and he ran a cracking race for second behind the champion trotter Just Believe in the Maryborough Cup on Sunday. He is a swift beginner from the standing start and did well on the Country Cups circuit last season. VIRGINIA CLOWERS (5) is a tough mare that was able to grind out a victory in the Menangle Cup at her first run since July. She has won six of her eight starts for the season including the Lightfoot Laurels and the Matriarch Trot so she must be respected. BLUE COMAN (2) and REVELSTOKE (4) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible early leader), 3

SELECTIONS: CALLMETHEBREEZE (7), PARISIAN ARTISTE (6), VIRGINIA CLOWERS (5), REVELSTOKE (4)

RATINGS: 7/ 5,6/ 4/ 2/ 1/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: CALLMETHEBREEZE (7) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: RONZEL MICKY (7) attempted to lead early but was headed off at the start and ended up being behind the leader when unlucky ninth at Mildura, where she became badly blocked for a run over the concluding stages. She led throughout at a Mildura victory on September 06 and she was runner up at Mildura two starts ago so she is worth another chance. CHEERS POVERTY (1) had support and ran a creditable second behind Dancin Dolly last week, where he couldn’t lead early, worked hard then gained cover. He hasn’t finished further back than fourth at his past six starts and deserves to break through for a win. NIVEKALON EAGLE (6) has had a few chances recently but he will appreciate his easiest assignment for some time and is a possible improver. He has been runner up in both of his Swan Hill starts previously. DARK SANDS (5) is a fast beginner and will appreciate the move to the front line. He was able to lead throughout in successive victories in September/ October.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,4,5

SELECTIONS: RONZEL MICKY (7), CHEERS POVERTY (1), NIVEKALON EAGLE (6), DARK SANDS (5)

RATINGS: 1,7/ 6/ 5/ 2,9

SUGGESTED BET: RONZEL MICKY (7) each way

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: HIGHLANDHARTBREAKA (2) is a debutante for trainer Andy Gath, which recorded slick final sectionals at a recent Melton trial victory and is clearly the horse to beat. LA FRANK (7) endured a tough run when fourth behind Royle Blood at Shepparton last outing. He finished solidly for third at Swan Hill prior and looms as one of the leading chances here. SAYCHELLES (5) was resuming since August when fifth behind Goodtime Sailor at Mildura. She should be fitter after that performance and she showed enough first up to suggest she can be a place chance. KEEP BETTING (1) is likely to lead out then take cover and she was runner up at Swan Hill on October 01 so she must be included in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 2,5

SELECTIONS: HIGHLANDHARTBREAKA (2), LA FRANK (7), SAYCHELLES (5), KEEP BETTING (1)

RATINGS: 2/ 7/ 1,5/ 6/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: HIGHLANDHARTBREAKA (2) to win

Race 10:

OVERVIEW: IVANA BYTHESEASIDE (5) won a heat of the Heidi George Classic at Swan Hill in a slick mile rate of 1.55.1 on October 01. She is a short course specialist and will take catching if she is able to find the lead again. JILLIBY TYPHOON (1) worked forward to find the front and proved to be too strong at Mildura last outing. She is stepping up in class for this assignment but she is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern so she is worth an investment. ACE MONTANA (6) is resuming since June but he has been performing nicely at the trials and he strikes a suitable field first up so he is not without a chance. MY MAGIC MERLIN (2) has been lightly raced recently but he is the winner of 13 races and should be competitive if he is somewhere near his peak.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (likely leader), 1,2,6

SELECTIONS: IVANA BYTHESEASIDE (5), JILLIBY TYPHOON (1), ACE MONTANA (6), MY MAGIC MERLIN (2)

RATINGS: 5/ 1,6/ 2/ 3/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: IVANA BYTHESEASIDE (5) to win
