Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: It is an open race to commence the program with many winning chances. EYE SEE PHILTRA (11) trailed the leader and used the sprint lane when he scored over ROYAL STARZZZ (5) at his latest victory. He is not going to receive such an easy run here but his overall form is sound so he is worth thought again. GOOD TOBE LOCKSLEY (4) performed nicely at his first run since April and he should strip fitter for the run. He is a handy type and should continue to improve with the benefit of fitness and experience. REGAL ROCK (3) ran along at a genuine speed and gave a bold showing when second behind Kathys Free at Bendigo on Wednesday. He is a good chance of finding his favourite front running role again so he must be respected. READY TO ROCK (9) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and rates as a value hope from his trailing draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 1,5,6,7

SELECTIONS: EYE SEE PHILTRA (11), GOOD TOBE LOCKSLEY (4), REGAL ROCK (3), READY TO ROCK (9)

RATINGS: 11/ 3,4/ 9/ 1,2/ 13/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: GOOD TOBE LOCKSLEY (4) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: HOORAH PHILTRA (11) defeated a handy field when he won the Super Series Bronze event then followed with a ninth in the Reg Withers Classic. He is a capable 3yo pacer and should prove hard to beat against this class. JACCKA CONNOR (9) has been racing at Metropolitan level so he appears to be very well placed in this grade. He had little luck from an awkward draw when unplaced behind Tiger Band Wagon at Melton last time out. THEROCKGOD (5) has been racing in very good form but has had no luck whatsoever at his recent performances. He possesses a powerful finishing burst and will be suited if the leaders go hard in the early stages of the event. TOORAM CEE CEE (6) used the pole position to his advantage when he led throughout to win in a mile of 1.56.6 at Charlton last outing. He faces a negative swing in the barrier draw but is racing too well to dismiss.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible early leader), 3,4,6

SELECTIONS: HOORAH PHILTRA (11), JACCKA CONNOR (9), THEROCKGOD (5), TOORAM CEE CEE (6)

RATINGS: 9,11/ 5,6/ 4,8/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: HOORAH PHILTRA (11) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: ARRAPS (6) is a fast beginner and will take catching if he is able to lead. He began quickly but couldn’t get across to the markers and was forced to race without cover throughout when fourth behind Treacheroustimes at Bendigo last outing. BETTER SAINT (10) pushed forward to race without cover and went down fighting when second behind Pete Mitchell at Shepparton last outing. He endured a similar trip when he scored at Shepparton on September 17 so he must be given a winning chance again. MYNAMEISRUBY (3) attempted to lead throughout but was nosed out on the line when second at Swan Hill on Tuesday. She has been racing consistently against this grade and should land a position close to the speed from her good draw so she is worth a ticket each way. LORIMERMAJOR (8) is awkwardly drawn but ran a good race after trying to lead throughout at Cobram last week and is worth an investment.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: ARRAPS (6), BETTER SAINT (10), MYNAMEISRUBY (3), LORIMERMAJOR (8)

RATINGS:6,10/ 3,8/ 4,9

SUGGESTED BET: ARRAPS (6) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: HESTON CASH (1) is resuming since June but has been performing extremely well at the Bendigo trials with her latest effort being a last to first victory. She is ideally drawn and should go well first up. PETE MITCHELL (9) moved up without cover, took a one out and one back trail in the back straight on the final occasion and battled on fairly in the latter stages when fourth last week. He has won five races against similar grade recently so he is worth another chance. NOBLE JULIA (4) led out then took cover when she got up to win in the last stride at Swan Hill. This race is a little harder but she is a chance of completing a hat trick. ROCKSTAR LEO (5) and MY ROCK MOVES (6) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 1,3,4,6

SELECTIONS: HESTON CASH (1), PETE MITCHELL (9), NOBLE JULIA (4), ROCKSTAR LEO (5)

RATINGS: 1,9/ 4,5,6/ 2,8

SUGGESTED BET: HESTON CASH (1) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: WHATS THE TEA (10) continues to race consistently against this class and looms as one of the leading chances again. She is backing up quickly from her effort at Cranbourne on Sunday but she was most unlucky when a fast finishing second on that track prior. AGAINST THE BRIDLE (3) performs best when he is close to the speed so he is perfectly drawn to suit his racing pattern. He struck trouble in the early stages so he had excuses at his latest sixth. MACHO MAORI (9) was a winner against similar grade at Shepparton three starts ago and was successful at a Melton trial effort last week so he is not without a chance. TETRA (4), MONTANA MUSCLE (6) and IVAR (8) are all capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 1,3,4

SELECTIONS: WHATS THE TEA (10), AGAINST THE BRIDLE (3), MACHO MAORI (9), MONTANA MUSCLE (6)

RATINGS: 3,10/ 6,9/ 4,8,11

SUGGESTED BET: WHATS THE TEA (10) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: OLLY ODD POTTS (9) appeared to have every chance after trailing the leader when fifth at Cobram last week but this is a much easier race and he scored under similar conditions on August 20 so he can make his presence felt. SALSBOY (7) is likely to settle in a rearward position from his wide draw but he possesses a powerful finishing burst and he just failed to gun down Kimchi at his latest narrow second. MURIEL (4) trailed the leader and was held up for momentum on the home turn when a creditable fourth at her first up run since July. She should be better from that run and is usually competitive against this class. PINNACLE HOPE (1) possesses early speed and has claims along with another fast beginner in STELLAR QUEEN (3).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: OLLY ODD POTTS (9), SALSBOY (7), MURIEL (4), STELLAR QUEEN (3)

RATINGS: 7,9/ 3,4/ 1,8

SUGGESTED BET: OLLY ODD POTTS (9) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: GLENGARRY RED (6) has shown plenty of promise at his first two attempts and should continue to improve with the benefit of experience. He worked hard in the run and kept on kicking when a strong winner over Sky Lindy at his latest attempt. LOTS OF CHANGE (7) led and rolled along at a good tempo when he scored at Yarra Valley three starts ago. He commenced from the inside of the second line and settled down midfield when a handy second behind Deejay Dex at his latest attempt so he is capable of going one better now. PARTYTIME (8) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and commenced from the handicap of 30m at his latest fourth so he is much better placed under these conditions. HURRICANE JANE (1), ASTRO (2) and SWEET MAORI MISS (5) are all capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 7 (possible leader), 5,6

SELECTIONS: GLENGARRY RED (6), LOTS OF CHANGE (7), PARTYTIME (8), SWEET MAORI MISS (5)

RATINGS: 6,7/ 8/ 5/ 1,2

SUGGESTED BET: GLENGARRY RED (6) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: LENIU (1) is a first starter for trainer Ian Ward, which created a good impression when he scored over Red Shores (finished third at Cobram since) in handy time at his only trial performance. He strikes a suitable assignment first up and must be respected. CRAZY ON THE BEACH (4) is a fast beginner and looms as the logical danger. He attempted to lead throughout when fourth behind Pink Scooter at his latest attempt. ROYLE BLOOD (3) has only been placed in two of her fifteen starts to date but she was runner up in a Shepparton Maiden event two starts ago and she was very unlucky on August 13 so she is not without a chance. KYRGIOS (5) was placed at Maryborough two starts ago and is a minor place chance again.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1

SELECTIONS: LENIU (1), CRAZY ON THE BEACH (4), ROYLE BLOOD (3), KYRGIOS (5)

RATINGS: 1/ 3,4/ 5/ 2/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: LENIU (1) to win
